We stopped in on a recent road trip for lunch. The staff is very friendly and make sure you have everything you need. The chips and salsa were good. I ordered the combo plate with a taco, relleno, and enchilada. The taco was decent and the enchilada had a dark rich flavor. I didn't care for the batter around the relleno, but the pepper itself was really good. The green chili that smothered the relleno was a thick sauce. It was really flavorful. Hubby had the beef flautas. I wish I had read the reviews first, because everyone said they were dry, and that was spot on. The tortilla was crispy, but I think you loose a lot of the beef tenderness when you fry them when the meat is already well done. The beans and rice were good. read more

I didn't read the signs, but this is kind of in the downtown Roswell area so beware of any possible street sweeping days, etc. LOCATION/AMBIANCE The alien statue and the vibrant colors would have drew me in if I had not already had this on my bookmarks. The ambiance is inviting with a semi-separated dining area with various table sizes. I took my burrito to go for a long trek to Colorado, but I would have a meal with my bestie here any time of the day because... margaritas and the first round of chips & salsa are complimentary! THE GRUB Their menu seems to have quite an assortment of Mexican food options. They also have weekly specials on their menu board when you first walk in. However, on 4/6/2023 I was craving something called the rajas con queso with carne asada added in ($9.68). It's a regular menu item, but I would eat this for breakfast if I could. If you like cheese, this is the meal for you - and it is a hefty burrito! I'm not entirely sure what all this restaurant puts in theirs, but the "rajas" is supposedly "strips" of poblano peppers. "Queso" definitely refers to cheese... this burrito was served piping hot with so much gooey, melted cheese with very tender carne asada - so good! They also put a couple of salsas on the side in my bag. Much appreciated because it helped turn up the spicy heat. This burrito is completely delicious all on its own, though. We each ordered a menu item to ensure that we received a full sampling of the menu. Fajita Plate I ordered this item that came with shrimp, carne asada and chicken as proteins. The shrimp on the dish was okay (definitely not fresh, but I am in New Mexico and no where close to an ocean, so I didn't expect it to be). The chicken and carne were flavorful getting much of its pep from the caramelized onions and green chillies. Carne Asada fries Thing One ordered this menu item and devoured it. The fries were pilled high with tender carne and fresh guacamole. This appetizer turned into meal was not only filling for my beast of a teenager but nicely executed. Our nephew from Roswell recommended this place to us when we come to Roswell next, so we got breakfast there when we came for Thanksgiving. My wife is from Roswell. The salsa for chips was unremarkable, and since this is the main way I evaluate a New Mexican restaurant I was not expecting more from the plates we ordered. But I was wrong. The breakfast plates were very good. I had stacked enchiladas with eggs, and she had eggs, bacon, sausage with homemade flour tortillas. All was tasty. I commented that there weren't any knives for cutting up the food, and my wife said she never used a knife to cut up food (except for steak) until she married me! At the end of the bill the "free" chips costed 5 dollars per bowl but we had no indication they costed money, we had 3 bowls they just brought them out, ask for no chips and there will be be no fee just be quick. Spicy, tasty salsa is an immediate boon. A-plus on the salsa. The red chile enchiladas are amazing!!! We went Xmas style and the green chile was one of the strangest green chile I've ever had. We went back because like I mentioned previously, the other two highly rated Mexican restaurants in the area were closed due to a COVID outbreak. The second time we went, I had Carne Asada Tacos; which were wonderful. The meat was nicely cooked and flavorful, the corn tortillas fresh and the accompanying Mexican rice delicious. Sauce that came with it was a kick in the pants spicy but so good! Husband had the chorizo burger; which he said was good but thought the chorizo and beef should've been mixed together like we do at home.
