Houston is known for a large variety of Salvadoran food. This place came up after typing on Yelp. we drove 40 min from cypress tx to this place. Nice location, restaurant is in a shopping center parking lot. Door to get in were a little confused all tinted. The place is more like an elegant Salvadoran restaurant not those places with decent prices and good food, this is the opposite side. We ordered 3 large orchatas and 2 cokes, by the time our server was dropping ours drinks we noticed that they sell Colashampam this is a delicious soda from EL Salvador so I want my Mexican friend to try it, we ask the server if he can return one of the orchatas and gives us the colashanpan and told us that he was not able to do that because the orchata was already served, I know the orchata is coming from a dispenser machine or container and is easy to returned with out doing any contamination, anyway we told him to leave it on the table and give us what we were asking and he did. Food prices are high for the quality, each pupusa cost $3,25 bucks. Places in the same area are selling pupusas for $1.60 with lots of more flavor. A plate with pupusas and tamales, plantains which is a traditional plate cost us $18 dollars, don't get me wrong this place is for those who don't know about this culinary culture so they can try for the first time but maybe not coming back Lol if they really want to try the traditional food. Our one and only best dish here was the Buñuelos de Yuca with Chilate $11 dollars for this unique and delicious dish that is going to make me go back for sure. Please work on your chicharrón for the pupusas because it taste like pork skin soaked in water mixed with onion and tomato with not seasoned. Please excuse my bad typing. The food is delicious as always! We've been coming here for pupusas since they first opened, and honestly, we drive quite a distance just to eat here because we haven't found another pupuseria that compares. The last few times we've dined in, the service has been really disappointing. It took a very long time for someone to take our order, and even then, our order wasn't taken correctly. We also had to ask for napkins, and after several things going wrong, my husband (who usually never gets upset about these kinds of things) eventually got frustrated. We decided to just get the rest of our food to go. It's a shame because we genuinely love the food and have been loyal customers for a long time. Food was amazing!! Really delicious! Service was horrible! All the waitresses were just there talking and laughing and just ignoring us never once got a refill. Or got asked how was everything, or id we needed anything else. Had to ask for napkins and waited. 10 minutes just to get the bill and the only reason we got it was because we had to cut their conversation short and interrupt them just to get the check. What started as a nice meal with my family quickly turned into a really upsetting experience. Everything was going fine until our waitress got my sister-in-law's order wrong. We all heard what she ordered, and instead of simply acknowledging the mistake and trying to fix it, the waitress became rude and kept arguing with us, insisting that my sister-in-law had ordered what she brought.What hurt the most was seeing my sister-in-law become so upset that she actually cried and didn't even feel comfortable staying inside the restaurant. She ended up waiting in the car while the rest of us stayed at the table. No one should feel so embarrassed or disrespected over something as simple as an incorrect food order. After that, the waitress stopped checking on our table and had someone else come by instead. At that point, the entire experience felt uncomfortable and disappointing. Mistakes happen--we completely understand that. What matters is how you treat people when those mistakes happen. We would have been much more understanding if she had simply apologized and handled the situation with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, the way everything was handled left us with a really bad feeling and turned what should have been a nice family meal into an experience we won't forget for the wrong reasons. I heard about this place from my daughter. We only ever get pupusas to go but they are always ON POINT and the platanos are my favorite! They come with black beans, crema, and queso fresco. They're always really friendly when we come in to pick up our orders. read more

Drove from afar to try this place. I was recommended by a relative. I was told that this was a nicer looking Salvadoran restaurant and that the food was good. This was my third attempt to try this place because the hours on Yelp and Google are off. I had to call the restaurant regarding their hours. Initial impression: I was excited to see a young man selling mango and sorbete with all the trimmings outside the restaurant. That sold me immediately and I got my mango with alguashte, chile, limon and sal. The mango was delicious and made me feel like I was in El Salvador. Service: When I arrived with my family, the waiters were running around between tables and lacked attention and detail. We finally placed our order with two different waiters. While waiting for our meal, we never got checked on nor given any refills on our drinks. Lastly our meals arrived about an hour later. My plate got mixed up with another dish and it took them another 30 minutes for it to be brought out and corrected. Food: Our meals were okay with flavor to say the least. The masa in the pupusas were a little undercooked. Our soups seemed to be fresh. The horchata lacked flavor and depth. It was grainy, unsweet and watery. The nuegados en miel and hot chocolate were probably the best part of the whole meal. Overall, I think there is room for improvement. To be fair this is the nicest looking Salvadoran place in the Houston area. This is my Papusas place to go! They are not greasy and nicely even around. The inside is nice and clean even is nice to inside. Since I live in the area the name that was on the door and the name on yelp lost me but I knew I was in the right spot. One of the waitress did let me know that they are in the mist of expanding the location. It is in a good location strip mall with plenty of parking.
