Been passing by this pupusa spot for months and wanted to try it. The food was decent but I've had better. They start you off with chips and salsa. We got some bean and cheese pupusas which were good with the sauce and curtido - pickled vegetables. We also had the camarones a la diabla which is a shrimp dish simmered in a chipotle sauce. It was a bit disappointing - not spicy at all. The food overall was a bit bland and could use more salt. It was kind of hot during the first half of the meal in the restaurant and they were playing awkward church type music which is not the vibe for when I'm eating dinner at a restaurant. I was craving some Salvadoran food, and overall, I had a great experience. The food was decent, and the portion sizes were fair, though I felt the crema on the breakfast could be a bit more generous. I tried the pupusas de frijol y queso, and they were very good--the tortillas were nicely toasted, which I personally enjoy. The curtido came in a small scoop (for 1 popusa); unlike most Salvadoran restaurants, they don't offer self-serve curtido, and I'm not sure if they would charge extra for more. The tamal de pollo was okay. The masa was a bit dry but had good flavor. I also tried the ensalada drink, which wasn't what I expected--it usually has agua de marañon, but this one was made with watermelon juice instead. Still, it was refreshing. Customer service was excellent, and I appreciated the easy QR code payment option. The restaurant has a modern atmosphere and plays Christian music throughout the day. They also offer Mexican dishes, which I haven't tried yet, but I might on my next visit. Overall, I would recommend El Sol and would definitely come again for more Salvadoran food! read more

More like 2.5 bc it's a small business and they should still be supported. We have a usual spot we go to off Fry Rd for pupusas, but we were in the area and decided to try them based off a Yelp & Google search. The service itself was fine, no wow factors. The music was okay, but the same video played repeatedly. Our server was nice & attentive, but we were the only two there. Being completely honest here, my Hubby and I did not enjoy the food at all. Any of it, not even the iced tea. Maybe I should've gotten sweet tea, but I've never tasted tea like that; no refill. And the soup, never again. My Hubby and I know Caldo de Res, and what it should taste and smell like. The meat used in the soup that evening could NOT have been cleaned before cooking bc the soup smelled awful. And when my Hubby tried it, his reaction was a hard "NO". We didn't finish anything except the salsa bc we used it to flavor the queso, and once the salsa ran it we didn't ask for more. We didn't even eat all the chips, they tasted like they were over-toasted. We took the pupusas & soup home, my Hubby thought he could "fix" them, but he literally just trashed it when we finally made it home. There could be potential at this spot, bc ppl have said good things. Unfortunately, we didn't experience those things on our visit, and live too far from the area to say we'll honestly try them again. We wish them well. read more

Picked up a big order of pupusas for staff ... was given boxes ... marked in ways we can't understand... the issue is some of the staff doesn't eat pork... and u can't see inside the food to tell what's inside. So some of the staff couldn't eat. So I can't give a full review of the taste because I am the one who ordered the food and also I was one of the people who couldn't eat because I don't eat pork. Also I ordered 21 pupusas... order came with red sauce... and was charged 4.23 for 3oz of green sauce. I guess we didn't spend enough for options. Or for service that would have us return. read more

I am surprisingly impressed with the food here. My meal was very simple but every bite was flavorful, satisfying and hit the spot. The pupusa de fajita (beef pupusa) was delicious. I also order a breakfast taco and again very satisfying. Good food here and definitely worth stopping by to try. Only took a photo of the beer pupusa. The moment I saw the breakfast taco I couldn't help but dive in. Forgive the hangry person. Overall, I give A+ for this place. Server doesn't speak the best English but it's okay bear with her. I had the carne asada and it was just ok. The meat was very small and it had what it seemed to be refried beans from a can. I also had a pupusa and it was much better and of a good size. We ate here recently to try it out as a new spot. The place was not very busy and that was kind of nice cause it was peaceful and we could hear each other talk. Our server was on top of everything and attentive but not to much. I wanted to try the Fajitas which were really good and while I don't remember what my wife had as her main meal it was very good also. The Papusas we ordered were excellent. Very good Salsa with the Chips. Pricing on average with others. All in all we were very pleased and will be back again and again to try more things on the menu. This place has a menu that displays several "Lunch-specials", like any other restaurant that provides an incentive for an affordable lunch on week-days. for this, they announce plates with a Fountain Drink included, for X price. But, their Fountain Drink machine has not worked for several months, so they bring you a soda can instead. But when charging you the check, they charge for that Soda can separtedly. Why drink is not included as the menu promises?, well , because the menu promises from the machine, not from a can, same difference!, this is ridiculous. But they do not clarify you this when you order. All in all, the food is not that great, you need to wait easily 15-30 minutes for a Pupusas order, plus, all the time they will be playing out loud Christian music, whether you like to hear it or not. Funny, they have these deceiving practices... Would not recommend it. read more
