Even though it's called La Habra PETS this place is definitely a reptile focused shop (and I guess Funko pops too since they have a corner selling those as well). Yes, as some other reviews have stated here, this location is a bit dusty and ages, but I feel like that adds to the charm and the fact that you can tell that it's a community staple. There are lots of pictures of young children, who I am sure are all adults now, with some of their reptiles, artwork for sale/on display, and lots of books and other affects that would indicate that the owners/shop's history is deeply dedicated to herpetology. The workers there were attentive and helpful and there are lots of reptiles here that I haven't seen elsewhere, such as the pink soft shell turtle that they have in the front. They have a slew of geckos, tortoises, and bearded dragons (of all ages and sizes), as well as iguanas and tegus. Lots of feeders available too. read more

I have been to this place a few times and every time I leave sad. Much of the animals are neglected and not properly cared for. They are stressed, diseased, malnourished, kept in dirty tanks ALWAYS. I noticed various animals in shedding w no humid area to help them shed. The place is always dusty and dirty. Lot of the animals aren't even for sale and are used for breeding also in poor environment's. Came for basic supplies but did not want to give my money to this business. I would nvr get an animal from here bc ik its coming sick. It's disappointing bc they do have potential. They have a wide variety of animals and have the space to sell more supplies. Even the tanks they were selling were dirty w dust and webs inside and out. The only reason I gave two stars is due to the variety of animals they had. Too bad most are half dead and living in poor environment's that could easily be upgraded. Have nvr been in a reptile store as smelly as this one either (a big tell of their level of care). read more

I brought my family here from Rancho Santa Margarita because we needed some feeders for our BD and wanted to check them out. That's a 45 minute drive. I saw the 4 star rating and good pictures from Yelpers, so we thought we would love this place. We were so wrong. This place must be reviewed and frequented by people who don't know any better. The place was so dusty, disorganized, with thick dust everywhere. This place is filthy. When I say filthy, I mean disgusting. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept or mopped in what looked like forever. The counters were just as dirty covered with who knows what. If you look up in the aisles you'll see thick strands of cobwebs everywhere. We literally thought to ourselves that there had to be some large resident spiders in the store just roaming around. The glass tanks with reptiles on the left were so dirty and splattered, that it looked gross and neglected. All the enclosures looked like there was no cleaning or maintaining them. I wish I took photos of those but I didn't even think of taking pics until I was almost out of there. There was a ton of bearded dragons there that were so thin and sickly looking, as well as black bearding from the stress. The geckos were also emaciated. Their tails are supposed to be plump but it was much smaller than they should be. The poor reptiles were in enclosures that had nothing to climb or hide in. The feeder rats/mice were in the back for all to see. They're overcrowded, fighting each other, looking sickly. It was sad. I've never been to a reptile store that had live feeder rodents out in the open for everyone to see. From our experience they're usually under the counter or hidden in the back away from everyone's eyes. I asked multiple questions and it was met with an "I have no idea" look on the face. I asked what the names of a couple specific BDs were but he had absolutely no clue. He answered with "I don't know the names of the breeds. We just breed them." That doesn't sound like a good responsible breeder that cares about the animals at all. I don't understand how this place has 4 stars. I really don't. I can't support a place that doesn't take good care of their animals from feeders to actual pets. I love to support small businesses but I can't come back here until they clean this place up and treat the animals better. I Really hope they do that soon because this place was absolutely depressing as a reptile owner/animal lover. Please PLEASE do your homework before buying animals here. read more

I bought a crested gecko from here a year ago, which promptly died. I honestly should've known better coming back. I came to buy a rat that was nursing, and even offered to buy all of the pinkies with it. I was rudely refused, flatly turned down for a reason I was not provided with. They sell pinkies as food for reptiles, and they sell rats as food for reptiles, so I have no idea why I could not buy both. mind you, this was to help orphan rats that I'm trying to save. Never in my life have I seen someone so cold and ruthless to customer, much less to a customer who returned after being sold a sick gecko. Avoid this place like the plague! the owner is as mean as he is thoughtless about his own business model. I understand the right to refuse service, but this dude went out of his way to be a jerk to me. read more

I came here this morning (Thursday) not knowing they were closed and happened to catch the owner stepping out letting him know I had misunderstood the hours. Since I was with my son who was very excited to see the bearded dragons he let us in too see them anyways and went over everything with us. Such amazing customer service and he was so kind to let us in. We will be back tomorrow to get our bearded dragon and his set up! read more

amazing reptile store perfect for beardie owners. the workers were nice and helpful. they let us hold any animal. they had a whole wall of baby to sub adult beardeds. they breed their own beardies and told us what types the parents were. we picked a baby with a mom that is hypo red and the dad was a dunner. the baby was very fragile and did need some more food but it was a beautiful selection and its a very trustworthy store! highly recommend! also great prices. read more

This will forever be my favorite reptile shop! I remember the first time I entered the store, it was with a friend who needed to get feeder crickets for one of their reptiles. I was taken aback by their huge selection of reptiles, and was even more impressed by how they were treated by the staff. I moved a couple of years ago, so unfortunately I don't get to visit here too often anymore. But this reptile shop is where I got my first bearded dragon, Mushu, four years ago. He was the cutest little dragon ever, and I remember taking him home in a small plastic container with ventilation holes because he was so little (his body minus his tail was the size of my pinky finger). The staff recommended a tank for him to grow into and what size I should upgrade to when we starts getting bigger. They also helped me out with tank lighting/heating, substrate for the tank bedding, food (crickets) and driftwood for him to lay on. I returned every 1-2 weeks to get him crickets because they had the best deals. 20 for $1.00 was an absolute steal, so I got a cricket keeper and would have them live in there until I needed to buy more for my bearded dragon. This is a fantastic little reptile shop and highly recommended to anyone looking to start a reptile hobby or continue it. Don't let this place (or the bad reviews) fool you! It may not be the corporate pet store you're used to but this place has something those pet companies dont - (aside from a huge selection of reptiles) - knowledgeable and caring staff. I've come here a few times throughout the years just to browse. When I got serious about owning a reptile, I came in to look and the owner (?), Chin, answered all my questions and gave advice even though I wasnt ready to purchase yet. Most pet stores dont know much about their animals if it isnt on a pamphlet for them to hand you. I looked around some local places but decided to make my purchases here. I'm glad I did, I've learned a lot from La Habra Pets and any time I've had any problems with my pet, Chin and his staff are always helpful and friendly. We come here instead of the closer "Pet Co.'s" for the interesting selection of animals, the customer service, and to check out whats new in the store. Feigning death beetles, Jackson Chameleons, Centipedes, I've seen them all here! We've even seen other customers bringing in their exotic pets. Everyone who works here genuinely treats their customers and their pets like friends. I'll definitely be back to buy a snake when I get the courage to own a snake ^-^ Meanwhile, see you at the store when its time to refill the crickets! read more

Oh my God this is the worst reptile shop I have ever been to. The kept baby snakes in takeout containers with no hides or water! One of their adult chameleons was kept in the smallest size critter keeper! I was gifted a baby corn snake by a family member from there and he died 2 days after I got him. I have been coming to this La Habra Reptile store even when I didn't live in the city. Good to take your kids on a trip to see and handle exotic reptiles. Everyone there is friendly and way cool. They even have a small library collection of books for children to check out & bring back for free. My 8 year old bought his first snake and loves it. I am writing this solely on the grooming side of La Habra pets. Anna, the groomer, does a fantastic job on your pet. I personally have been taking my Maltese, for 6 years, to her to be groomed and shave down in the summer. Prior to this Maltese, she had been grooming my girl Maltese as well. This local reptile specialty store has been in business for 25 years. They carry a large variety of reptiles. I came in to browse and look at these unique creatures close up. I had no intentions of taking one of them home, just wanted to admire their prehistoric beauty. Most of them are born and bred here in the store. They have large and small lizards, snakes, chameleons, geckos, tarantulas and much more. I got a real kick out of watching a bearded dragon. I think he liked me.They stock fresh food (crickets & mice), cages and linear tube bulbs that are essential for reptiles. Bird wing clipping, nail cutting & trimming for lizards and turtles are also available. For $2 they will manually check to see if your reptile is a male or female. It's fun, educational, an all around great place to visit. You don't see many stores like this around anymore. I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a reptile. read more

All I can figure is that the good reviews here are written by people who are not knowledgeable about reptiles. That's the only explanation, because while this store has a great "selection," we should remember that the items being sold here are living creatures, not grocery store items or accessories. The enclosures are absolutely atrocious. The person responsible for housing gorgeous monitors in tanks that lack sufficient space, humidity, temperature gradient, and substrate should be ashamed. One reason so many reptiles, including various monitor lizards, die prematurely in captivity is because inexperienced owners purchase them from shops like this and trust that the enclosures their pets are being housed in at the shop are appropriate to recreate. These are intelligent, active lizards who want to dig, burrow, climb, swim and explore, and here they are left with barely enough space to turn around, on a plain, hard surface sprinkled with some kind of pellets. I was excited to visit this place based on the reviews but I left in extreme disappointment and sadness for the animals that reside there. read more

This place has a big selection, but I would give it no stars if I could. We were eager to visit this place after searching for reptile stores around the area. We drove 30 miles to come here because of the great reviews. When we arrived we immediately noticed how dirty and unkempt all the tanks were. Moreover, none of the reptiles had their heating or UVB lamps on! Anyone who knows anything about reptiles know that proper husbandry and adequate lighting are key to healthy reptiles. PLEASE IF YOU ARE NEW OR INEXPERIENCED WITH REPTILES, BE WARY OF OF THIS PLACE. The animals seemed to be suffering. We didn't want to stay any longer because it broke our hearts to see them like that. Never coming back. I hope those animals get saved, or at least I hope the people turn their proper lights on! read more

Came home to notice all the roaches were dead. I called asking about it they basically told me come back today if not they won't do anything. I was told that it was 90° outside(more like 75-80). Messy appearance inside as it looks like the main selling floor looks like the back room. Trash all over the place. Could be more organized and cleaner. Pets in there don't look like they are cared for either. A good amount of them have no substrate and are in an empty cage. Some don't even have proper lighting. Felt sorry for the pets. There were no prices listed for the pets they have on sale. Makes you wonder if they are going to make their own prices up depending on the customer. Service was fine which gave this place one star.
