It's a smaller shop located in a busy, small plaza, so parking and driving in it can get kinda fisted, so I'd just take note of that. Shop is super clean and all the enclosures are clean too. Love that. There's plants for purchase too, some merchandise, and all the supplies, including their own mix of bioactive substrate and even bioactive tanks already set up. Sadly no silkworms when I visited, but there seems to be a good stock of everything else. Love that Reptile Factory also has pre-cut greens if need be as well. Solid reptile shop!

All good. I returned yesterday and dealt with a woman at the counter. I told her I needed the 5,000 medium live mealworms. She went to the back, came out with the cloth sack with mealworms inside. Whispered something to a different guy there and then rang me up. This time it was $86! Surprised, I confirmed that the amount was 5,000 and they were sized medium. She said yes. Not sure why they were $32 more this trip but I needed them. I got them home and opened the bag to discover they were large mealworms, not medium. I have baby birds that these are way too big for. Ugh.... $32 more than 2.5 weeks ago and the wrong size on top of that. Things like this are so frustrating. I mean how hard is it?

I visited here before, years ago, but this was before I kept lizards myself, and now coming back, I was delightfully surprised to see that they have upgraded immensely and modernized. Everything is super clean and sleek looking! Honestly very refreshing since, no offense, many other reptile stores are a bit more aged and cluttered. The set up of the enclosures are a delight to look at! Alright, I don't want to be a hater to the other reptile shops, but AT MOST, the fanciest thing you're going to see is MAYBE a uromastyx, but I was SO EXCITED to see the reptiles that they had here. Like, yes they have bearded dragons and geckos too, but it's not PILES of them and they have much fancier morphs. That black red monster beardie that they have is gorgeous. However, I got to see full grown, inquisitive ackie monitors, an Asian water monitor, Leachies that aren't over $1k, various tree monitors, a Baron's Racer, lovely fire skinks, Kimberly rock monitors, a Gidgee skink (NFS), etc. I have seen some of these ONLY at zoos, reptile shows, or the East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley (the oldest reptile store in the nation). So for the Basking Spot to have these species is a huge testament to the shop's dedication to the craft and hobby. I got my questions answered and I can see that the community loves shopping here. Proper husbandry and breeding practices (as you can see from the fire skinks they have, not the easiest to breed) and responsible ownership, we love to see it! ALSO, it is almost impossible for me to find wax worms, let alone silk worms in person as feeders for my lizards. Sometimes my local pet store has the wax worms and it's a hit and miss if I go to IE and can find silk worms. I GOT BOTH HERE! And the worker was nice enough to carefully pick them out so they weren't pupated yet, thank you! The shop is a bit farther for me, but I will come back 100%!!

Even though he's not a vet, he took the time to ask us detailed questions, observe our chameleon's movements, and help us troubleshoot possible causes. We learned so much from him, especially about improving our UV lighting setup and overall husbandry. He gave us realistic options based on the time and resources we had before leaving town, which we really appreciated. We're so glad we stopped by before our trip because we genuinely were worried our little guy might not make it. Bryan's guidance helped us feel much more informed and prepared.
