The food is fine, as is the ambiance, but I want to start with their service - which was great! We rolled in heavy @ 10:30a and they accommodated us without issue, had our chips, salsa, and bean dip (part of their default offerings) filled the whole time. Same with drinks, and we're always there along the way to handle our needs. We are new to the area and have eaten here several times now. The food is great. We get crunchy asada tacos and the flavor of the meat is so good. The shells are cooked perfectly and hardly greasy. My wife is picky on the rice and she loves the flavor of it here. They give you beans and salsa for the chips. I need to remember to ask for some cheese on top of my bean dip though. We were on a road trip and stopped at this restaurant for dinner. Service: Excellent. Our server, Myrna, and her helper did a fantastic job and were warm and welcoming super. They got warm, crisp chips with salsa and beans as soon as we sat. They refilled our chips multiple times. Ambiance: Simple and clean. Clean restrooms. Food: Our food and plates cane in hot and in no time. My son loved his Machaca Con Huevos and asada taco. My husband is vegetarian and he had a veggie burrito. I cannot recommend the burritos. Second time trying & both times disappointing. I called in my to go order. The burrito menu in Yelp photos barely lists any ingredients so I specifically asked the woman what's included in a burrito. She listed off things like rice, beans , sour cream, guacamole, lettuce. I ordered a ground beef one & told her I wanted refried beans since my husband's order had whole beans. Perhaps she thought that's all I wanted in addition to the ground beef? Mine only had ground beef, refried beans, cheese. No rice or anything else she told me. It was literally leaking out of the bottom, such a mess. All 3 burritos we ordered were wrapped so loosely they were falling apart. It's so hard to get a good burrito in this area which is really depressing. This is the 2nd time I've ordered burritos from here on the way home from Arnold & I didn't like mine the first time but unfortunately the tacqueria in murphys was unexpectedly closed. I had been avoiding this restaurant because it looked like a typical strip mall Mexican joint. Today, however I decided to give it a try, mostly because the second drink was half price for Cinco de Mayo. It turned out to be stellar. I've been living in Calaveras County for close to six years now and until today, never ate at a restaurant that I would go back to again. This one I would. I ordered a cup of Albondigas soup and Chile Colorado. Both were excellent versions. I ordered back to back Negra Modelos and instead of bottles, I got full draft pints. The servers were very nice and even though it took a long time to get my food, I can still recommend this place whole heartedly. A bit pricey, but worth it. I finally have a restaurant I can take out of towners to without being embarrassed. read more

I've been coming to La Hacienda since I was a little girl when it was over across from the stop light. I've always loved it and it's had a special place in my heart. With the new ownership I love that they've kept a lot of the same menu items the same like their famous salsa and taco's. But I have to say that the new chips & bean dip are fire! We thought we'd try somewhere new while in Angels Camp. There's a sign at the door that says chips and salsa are no longer available complementary and charging $3.50. I've never known a Mexican restaurant to charge for chips and salsa! We almost turned around and got in our car but I'm glad we didn't. It took a few minutes to be seated for good reason the server was all by herself. At one point I counted 11 tables that she was serving and doing a darn good job. The food here is average Mexican food from what we tried. Mr. S had the Chili Relleno on the lunch special and he wasn't impressed. I had the Tapatia salad and I have to say it was pretty darn good. Upon the first bite I realized that I have eaten here before, but it was many many years ago, and this is what I ordered. The dressing that they toss it in is unusual and memorable. The salad was huge and I took half of it home. Just a word to the wise it's pretty wilty when you eat it hours later, enjoy it now! read more

A friend and I went here today after our golf tournament. I have to say I had one of the best tostada salads I've had in ages! I ordered it with chili Verde which was so tender and flavorful I could not believe it. Their special dressing that they toss the lettuce tomatoes and cheese in is very tasty and has a lot of flavor, add that to beans and a tortilla on the bottom and you have a bomb of a salad! My friend had the Nopalitos and eggs which she said was very tasty too!!! Top off a great meal with good service and you can't beat this little gem in Angels Camp. read more

There was plenty of chicken in the enchilada. The chili relleno was small but very tasty. And the beef taco for #9 combo was crispy and loaded with ground beef, cheese, and lettuce. I could have eaten it all, but my wife reminded me about the heartburn I'd get. She had a tostada with chicken, and guac for an extra $1.50. Unfortunately the $1.50 did not get you much guac, but the waitress was happy to get more a no charge. She complained that the tostada could have been hotter, maybe serve it on a hot plate? The combo plate I had was sizzling hot when served, which was great! Overall, I'd give this place a 4.5 out of 5. Good atmosphere, and friendly staff. read more

our family of ten we're visiting from out of town to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. we just completed a local hike on the hottest day there ever was and were happy to find a Mexican restaurant in the downtown area of angels camp, but unfortunately we were turned away due to our size of party and time of entry. Tired, hangry, and defeated we searched for another restaurant but saw most were just Ten minutes from closing. Then we called La Hacienda. The man who answered could hear our panic and told us to come in. although There were just two families ending their dinner, la hacienda still welcomed us in and set up a table for our large party. the staff at the family owned restaurant was truly wonderful and made us feel right at home. Thank you so much for staying open for us and making the end to our family trip that much more memorable!! oh yeah and the food was DELICIOUS!! read more

The service was also very good.. my husband usually doesnt eat much of Mexican food but he really loved it here. we ordered more food after we finished our main course and were full but still wanted to try out different dishes of them. I love this restaurant! When I moved here as a kid in the early 2000's it was always our treat to come here . If we were good we'd get a fried ice cream. I went for the first time in 10 years (and after becoming the manager in the food industry myself) since I moved and was blown away by how much it was still the same! We even had the same server from when I was a kid. It was so clean in there and smelled so good. You can tell this establishment takes pride in cleanliness and presentation. The temperature was so nice too. We came in from the rain and I was expecting it to be cold but it was perfect. My dad and I had a lovely meal he got the two combo taco plate and I had the taco salad with a beef taco on the side. EPIC! I was shocked the restaurant wasn't as busy as it should be, but also was so happy to be able to be seated right away. Our food came out so quick too! My dad and I had a lovely conversation and enjoyed sitting there chatting we realized that it was getting close to closing time but never felt rushed or pressured to leave. I recommend this place to everyone I know who still lives here. We made it out for both our meals drinks and chips for under $50 and it's been a LONG time since I had a decently priced meal. Found a hair in my food and the staff was less than accommodating. They were actually very rude and thought I put it there myself.

Absolutely awful. Food not heated enough. Thought I would be safe eating the rice and was wrong. Myself and four of my friends got food poisoning. Hospital visit for fluids. Found myself in Angeles Camp for work, I was looking for Authentic Mexican food and came across LA Hacienda Restaurant. From the point of Walking thru the door, the staff was extremely friendly. I ordered a shredded chicken burrito with enchilada sauce on the sice. Believe me when I tell you the food, the sauce, even the the fresh baked chips and salsa was the best I ever had. On top of that, the staff made us feel at home... 5 stars easily. Angel's Camp is a long drive from where I'm at but I look forward to driving up just to goto this Restaurant. read more
