Fresh off a Mercer Caverns tour, we stumbled onto this cute little spot and I'm so glad we stopped in for lunch! We got there a bit before the lunch rush, so parking was a breeze. There's a handful of seats inside, but most of the action happens outside on the porch hence "Porch Cafe," of course. You order at the register, grab a number, and pick your spot. The decor is rustic and cozy in the best way. Total charm overload. The menu's right there by the register, and they've got sandwiches and salads, exactly what we were craving. Sandwiches come in full or half sizes, and I went with the half. It comes with a side, and I picked the Pesto Mac. It did not disappoint. I could've made a full meal out of just that. Drink-wise, they've got a solid lineup, alcoholic and non. I went full nostalgia with a Shirley Temple, and if you're a plain-water person, there's a self-serve station for that too. Our food came out fast, and the portions floored us, that "half" sandwich was anything but small. Generous doesn't even cover it. The staff sealed the deal - friendly all around, from the woman who took our order to whoever swung by to check on us and box up our leftovers. Such a gem for a laid-back lunch. This is an amazing little restaurant! my daughter and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite before a movie yesterday (sat), i got the chicken bacon sandwich. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! my daughter is a picky eater, she got the kids menu turkey sandwich, she loved it! And then we got lemon bars and chocolate cake and snuck it into the movie theater! The service and friendliness was probably the best I've had (which is relatively non-existence in this area). The decor and atmosphere was top notch! I love so many things about Pickled Porch. The service is easy: order at the counter, get your number, and they'll come find you when your food is ready. The staff is great about checking in as they're cleaning the tables nearby. Their Blue Cran Apple salad is the best around - loaded with sooo many toppings. I almost wish the portion stayed the same (huge) but in a bigger bowl so it's easier to toss. I may ask about that next time. Always get the side of bread, too! My mom got the veggie sandwich and pesto Mac as part of their $11 1/2 sandwich and a side deal. They have 5-6 different sides to choose from - fruit, Mac salad, salad salad, and more - and a wide range of tri tip, turkey, chicken, and veggie sandwiches plus other delicious cafe-fare. I've never had a bad choice here. After lunch, my mom insisted that we needed dessert. She had a hard time choosing just one, but went with the turtle cheesecake. If they had bread pudding this visit, that would have been my number one choice! Nothing compares to their bread pudding! But the turtle cheesecake was great, not overly sweet and the caramel was delicious. They also have a unique craft soda and drink selection. I'm a huge fan of craft root beer and love trying different ones! You really can't go wrong here. My only complaint is that while sitting on the porch is lovely, there usually seems to be bees buzzing around the side closest to the corner bar. My FAVORITE place to eat in Angels Camp! Every time I take any of my friends or family members out here they LOVE it! I get the same grilled chicken sandwich everytime with their pesto pasta salad. It's so good hot fresh and delicious! They also have a gallery of sweet treats to try I noticed I would LOVE to try their cheesecake next time I come back! The service is always nice the girls here are so caring and always on top of everything it's really appreciated! Because it does get BUSY so for them to still be so nice and always get back around to you is excellent customer service!! They also have a bathroom around the side of the building and as it does have stairs, there is a ramp so A+ to them for making it ADA accessible! Love that As busy as this place gets the seating is a bit limited. Perhaps because the food is so good it draws in more customers there for less tables are taken. There isn't really seating that would would want to sit at inside because you're eating next to a line, and they do have a bit of a fly problem outside but nothing some fly tape somewhere couldn't fix! Old Town Murphys is so cute! We stopped on our way to Arnold on a Wednesday and parking was plentiful. It was busy tho. The deli case was full of amazing desserts. I saw lemon bars...yum! The top row are the sides you can choose from. They all looked good or you can pick chips. We had the Wedge Salad with Avocado. I had to ask for a knife but it was delicious. I could only eat 1/2. My husband smokes his own tri-tip so is lnowledgzble in the process. He really enjoyed the Swagger Wy Sandwich. The food came in about 10 minutes. They have a water station out on the patio. Okay so I don't have a photo of my food cause it was delicious and me and my fiancé devoured it. He took me to this gorgeous cafe about a year ago (we had to drive in that area for his work) and I was craving a sandwich. Cute little cafe and shop loved the aesthetic and service was absolutely sweet. Very busy and very local community supporting this business and I see why! The Pickled Porch Cafe is a cute place with great outdoor seating and situated next to a picturesque downtown area. The sandwiches were great - the ingredients were clearly fresh and were flavorful. This place takes advantage of customers. My husband and I would visit this place often, last few times the food has been BAD. I ended up taking a picture of my turkey sandwich, bread was so old and dry it was falling apart before I could even take two bites. I ended up using a fork and eating the inside of the sandwich with my side and throwing out the bread. Perfect spot to grab lunch on our way out of Big Trees. My hubby and I split a Swagger Wy (one of their Tri-tip sandwiches with Gorgonzola cheese) and a Snarky Bird (chicken breast with smoked gouda). Perfection with incredible fresh toasted sourdough rolls. It was around 1:30 on a Saturday and busy but not so busy we couldn't find a table on the beautiful wrap around porch. The sandwiches are big so if you get a half sandwich which you can also select the side, that's a pretty good idea, I could not have eaten a full sandwich in one sitting. We had a tri-tip sandwich and a turkey sandwich. Both were excellent full of really nice produce. The only thing I'd recommend is to ask them to toast the bread because they normally just serve a cold sandwich, but I prefer a sandwich warmed up and toasted The flavors for the meat salad and the Caesar salad were very good produce was fresh . I would definitely come here again for a early lunch , they also have desserts here we didn't try them as they were out of coffee, but they do grew their own percolated coffee, which probably runs out at the end of the morning. Another nice option as they have outside seating where you can sit in the sunshine or sit under their porch canopy. Visiting my parents up in Valley Springs, they were raving about this place and really wanted to take me; I can't turn down a sandwich. When we got there, the owner was tidying up the landscaping which was already quite well manicured. The establishment itself is just darling. Clean, organized, and functional. There was so many amazing options but I went with the Tommy Bomber with fruit, mom went with the Turkey Cranberry with the Pesto Mac, and my stepdad went with the Clam Chowder which he claims to be the best he's ever had. Our food came out quickly and beautifully! And WOW!!! The sandwich exceeded my expectations. Fresh ingredients, full of flavor. This sandwich was a labor of love, I just know it. When I say I was talking about this sandwich for the entire drive home... I mean it! My stepdad says "I remember talking about my first Pickled Porch sandwich too". Seriously. We stopped for lunch in this little town and saw the quaint porch and cute name. We had the beef and blue cheese sandwich and the turkey basil and both were fantastic. They have a lot of unique sodas in bottles and it was fun trying a couple. The ginger root beer really just tasted like root beer. I had the pomegranate soda and it was refreshing. Salad came with the sandwich and it was generous. They charged an extra dollar for the Caesar, and she didn't tell us that. I didn't mind, but it would have been great to be told it was extra. The girl just said to pick our side from the top shelf in the cooler. It was hot out, and there are only 2 small tables inside. Every time we go to Angels Camp we have to stop here and get our favorite sandwiches. The sandwiches are amazing as you can see by the photos. Each sandwich comes with your choice of chips or daily salad choice. I love the Cranberry Turkey sandwich, loaded with alfalfa sprouts. I feel so fresh and heathy when I eat this sandwich. I choose the beet salad which complimented my sandwich perfectly. My hubby had the Tri tip sandwich on this trip. He loved it. We love this place and don't miss a chance to stop here. I normally don't write reviews, and I'm really upset that I feel like my experience was this bad to have to write this. I ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 salads to take back to work. Both sandwiches were made wrong (one was supposed to be no tomato, no mayo and the other no onion and light sprouts which I clarified twice, and the girl repeated it back to me. There were onions on the one and about a whole tomato on the other. I was also supposed to get 2 macaroni salads, one I got but there was barely anything in the container (which happened the last time we ordered), the other side wasn't in the box at all. When I called to let them know, the girl told me that there was nothing they could do for the sandwiches because we had already taken them. Well, I'll let you know that the person eating the sandwich took the tomatoes off and ate it. She is now itching all over her body and has red splotches everywhere. I know Gretel would not be ok with this and I would have rather talked to her about it, but I was told she won't be back until August so here I am doing what I hate.
