Wow, one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ate at in a while. Super friendly customer service, quick for take out. Food was ready in 15 mins. The food portioning was good way more then I expected. They give you bag of chips for every meal your getting something you don't really see anymore, sides of salsa. Salsa is good and has a slight kick not to overpowering it's delicious! Came here for Father's day with the fam and I hate to say it but food is not that good, it's ok but definitely lacks in flavor and doesn't taste right, but the beef and chicken milanesa was really good, hence the 1 star! The salsa was the first give away that the food was not going to be good, it's taste like tomato sauce or a jar of Tostitos salsa plus no heat what so ever and their warm verde sauce taste like it came straight out of a can, so disappointing. The beans were not tasty at all, you can tell they boiled the beans and just squashed them with some water super bland. The rice was hard no taste. My mom had the carnitas, which were ok but was not your typical carnitas, my son had the chile verde which was tough the verde sauce was terrible, it was tangy super watery, they need to remove from menu or figure out a new recipe, he had to return it, which they did happily and replaced with a chicken burrito which my son was way better. My daughter had a chicken tamale which she couldn't eat it was rock hard on the corners, and dry with no taste, a disgraceful tamale for sure, she didn't eat it and didn't complain they just took the full plate away, and didn't even ask if their was something wrong which is another sign they know their food is isn't up to par. I tried the menudo as a sample because once I tried the salsa I thought I better ask for a menudo sample and nope it was bland pretty tasteless. My daughter in law had the fajitas and she was not impressed much at all, I did take a bite of the meat and wasn't that bad. Found this place through my girlfriend's parents. We have been here quite a few times. Tonight I stepped out of my normal and got the Carnitas, let's just put it this way I won't order anything else they where AMAZING!! ANETES poor service! This has been my fav place to get food. Always satisfied with food, amount taste. It is $ bit more but the taste is worth it. But due to my visit today I asked for lime, the girl working said I already have some in my to go boxes. I said okay and left. Went home...NO LIME! Went back cuz I have to have lime with my food. I asked the same girl ANETE if I can get some lime plz, she said it was in there, told her no it's not. He went to the kitchen to ask the cook and he came back and again said that they were closed. The hours on Saturday are until 10:00PM. I drove across town. Which is so uncommon these days. Hands down just on the service 5 stars. I didn't have any complaints, my combo plate of Chicken enchiladas with a wet verde burrito. (I just wasn't aware the burrito was going to puro de asada) Although the asada burrito, even after I warmed up my leftovers was still great. We chose this place for dinner last night because it was the highest/ most reviewed sit down Mexican restaurant in Modesto.... After we were seated with menus, I quickly looked over the menu for drinks. I couldn't find them on there and there was no drink menu on our table either. I cannot stand it when I am asked what I want to drink before I have had a chance to look at the menu to see what I want... The waitress seemed annoyed that we asked about where the drinks were on the menu. We had to ask specifically "do you guys serve margaritas?". She said they do... ok.... "well do you guys only serve plain or do you have any flavors??"... we had to ask a lot of questions to get to our point and finally ended up ordering strawberry margaritas. We didn't care for the salsa or the gooey stuff I'm assuming was bean dip? Our drinks came out in a timely manner and tasted like frozen lemonade... we didn't even end up half way finishing them... I ordered the chile verde. The sauce was good on it, I'll give them that... but the meat was very hard and dry.... My husband said his carnitas were cooked nicely but lacked flavor. Went here with my sister a couple days ago, for the first time. When we walked in we were greeted and told to sit where ever, okay no problem. When we sat down and were given the menus not less than 3 minutes later someone came by and asked, "okay are you ready?", we politely told them " we'll need a couple minutes" and then walked off, NOT EVEN A MINUTE LATER, a girl came by and asked if we were ready. "No? Sorry..." When we came in it was 9:00pm and on google it says it closes at 10:30? Okay, so why did we have to be rushed? We were so upset, but didn't say anything because we understand how it is to work in the food industry. Also when we looked over we saw they were treating another table kind and laughing with them, while they would treat us so rude. The only person who was kind to us was the bus boy who comes and cleans the tables. I would've forgiven the rudeness and rushing if the food just didn't just taste plain and was cold, literally was in and out in 30 MINUTES, because they wanted us out so bad. Hey Mexican food lovers, I was just not impressed at all with this joint. I rate my restaurants on a few things. 1) Price, 2) Staff, 3) Cleanliness, 4) Speed 5)FOOD.... I will start off with what was good with this place and that will definitely be staff. They where all extremely nice and very personable. Doesn't surprise me since it's a family owned restaurant. Now let's move on and I will explain what they failed in and received 1 star. For starters they don't have many options in types of meats which is a huge no no for me for a Mexican restaurant. They are over priced (which is fine if the food is bomb) and they take forever to bring your food out. I'll add that there was only 4 tables while we waited which doesn't equal the amount of time we waited. I also used the restroom while I was there and it was grimy. It just looked like it wasn't properly cleaned. Now for the most important reason people come here. I ordered a carne asada burrito supreme, 4 shredded beef tacos and 4 pork chile vede tacos. No one was happy!!! The burrito had way to much sour cream to the point that that was all you could taste (and we love sour cream) the asada was to dry and crunchy (may have been old) the shredded beef was moist but the taste was off. Funny but it tasted like pastor (which I asked for and they didn't have) and that's just not the way it should taste. The chile verde was really dry. I got to have two and two of each taco so I know my wife wasn't over exaggerating how dry they were. Sorry for this honest review guys. I just like keeping it real. No hard feeling to the restaurant owners. Your staff is on point but many areas to work on. I hope you don't see this review as hate but merely on how to improve your restaurant. Thanks! read more

I came over here with some friends after playing laser tag. For some reason we all decided to get the Shrimp Cocktail. The service was good, but the food took longer then expected. When we got our Shrimp Cocktail it was in a big bowl and it was watery like soup. Also there were no avocados in it. It actually tasted okay, but the kicker is how stingy they were on the crackers. We had to ask for crackers 3 times, while conserving our crackers. read more
