It's a pretty safe neighborhood, I have friends and family that lives here and I've been working in this area for years. It can get busy definitely on holidays, kids school breaks and weekends. Be prepared if you plan on hanging around this area on the weekends and holiday breaks; traffic can be hectic as well. Yes, you can fish at the SD river! Overall, mission valley is so beautiful and a great place to visit if you're from out of town. Happy Yelping!

If you need to run errands or kill time between plans, this is where you end up. Downside: it's basically a sea of shopping centers and parking lots. Traffic gets bad, especially around Fashion Valley and Friars Rd. Not much character or walkability -- you're driving everywhere. That said, it's central. You can get to the beaches, downtown, or the Zoo in 15-20 minutes. Tons of chain restaurants and some decent local spots if you know where to look. 3 stars because it's useful but not a destination. Good for shopping and convenience, not for vibes.

I was once the Duke of Kensington Mini Park This one, too! In addition to the above, I can also recommend Kensington Club, Earthwell Refill, and Stella Jean. The Ken Club is one of the oldest bars in San Diego and they are old school. Cash only! I have seen bands here and I have sung Louis Prima and Faith No More during Sunday night karaoke. Check out their calendar of events. Earthwell Refill is a zero-waste shop that sells household and hygiene products. Bring in your empty bottle or purchase or borrow one from the shop. We get our shampoo here. Stella Jean has good ice cream. They do a few vegan flavors. I want to try the Date Shake Cake. The history of one place that has the many places that have the many places such as a cheesecake factory that was only used by Merv Griffin which is one place you may say is what is the place and the many things to discover. There are many that like to take trips through the many older neighborhoods which can be declared as some of the older neighborhoods are some of the many where the older times of San Diego can be found. I had taken the bus from the SDSU neighborhood and wanted to see the many other parts of San Diego that had remained hidden for many for some you have to take the bus to get to. To have taken the bus the travel to the area was a time of 25 minutes I had seen the many stops that when you travel on the San Diego Transit route 11 to the area of Kensington Adams Ave parking you can't find much. From the many years that when you look at Kensington the history of Kensington was the history and the background of Adams Avenue that had a Spanish background in the many house that were during the years of 1926. For many that knew Adams Avenue was streetcar row that in 1913, a massive trolley car barn was built, to store and perform and complete minor services to several hundred trolley cars would exit and enter if through a series of switches off. When you take a look at Adams Ave you are seeing the many areas that was the main track system that would take you to the many stops that would be along the many stops from the Antique Row and further on down Adams Avenue. With the many areas of Kensington, you are on a history walk that takes you to the many areas of the park and the many areas of the neighborhood that you see many of the art works that are still on the walls you see from the tattoo shops and the Lastat's coffee shop no that's not the Vampire it might be. The city of Kensington is one place that you can take a bus up to the area you can walk amongst the many locations and take connecting busses that can take you downtown and over to the area of North Park the many areas people do drive by and not know they have passed by history of the North Park area. As a Yelp Elite is take a day and take the bus you can save gas and time where you can visit the park and the many shops of Kensington and the many areas of Hillcrest you can ride the city bus number 11.

It is an excellent locale to park and wander right up to the water's edge of the Bay and really do some awesome plane-spotting. This morning I went early when it was very foggy to check out the action. I parked in the parking lot across from Ace Hardware, right off Historic Decatur. The strobe lights that guide pilots on instrument landings into San Diego's airport when visibility is reduced sit right out in front of Liberty Station and go across the Bay. The planes descend very steeply at this point and you can almost look up above you as they fly over and feel like you can touch them. Other than being very noisy, it is very cool. When British Airways first arrived in San Diego, this was a good place to watch it land and take-off. Now it is all about the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane that has all the plane buffs in a state of excitement. My son and I watched it yesterday take off above us in Liberty Station and it is really quiet for such a big plane. Liberty Station's Lookout Park is nice. There are no bums or vagrants wandering around...yet. Lots of young buff types from nearby Point Loma Workout jog by and there are always stroller brigades of young moms from Navy housing exercising along the well-kept pathways. It is safe and clean here. And the airplane action is topnotch! 5 YELP STARS all the way!

It's cute how LSL has a page on Yelp. Didn't see that one coming!…read more But this place does have some purpose. Rating it against other "lookouts" it is about a 2 star show. It doesn't have the scenic views of places like Cabrillo or Sunset Cliffs. And even as far as local airport viewing, there are other parks around the country (D.C. comes to mind) where there are much better views of the air traffic. It's not worth going out of your way to come here, but it is a decent turnaround point if you're out running the park.

Barrio Logan is an amazing part of San Diego with bn it's amazing art painted on the bridge…read moreunderpass. The art is by incredible, their is a small playground, ocasional car shows. Their are many artists in be little divided storefronts along the main drag plus good restaurants and a coffee shop. You can also drive across the bridge with no tolls. A great way to spend a few hours.

Welcome to the neighborhood city of North Park, San Diego…read more One of my favorites and an absolute must, day or night. Parking might be a challenge, but with so many great gems, finds and foodie spots, you will want to spend plenty of time here. From great all-inclusive bars like Redwing, a karaoke and sports bar with trivia Thursdays, comfort eats and a cozy patio. Ranchos Cocina, the reina of versalite Mexican cuisine with the most extensive selection of Vegetarian and Vegan dishes. North Park Community Park is a laid-back, slightly hidden park with park tables, playground area, sports fields and a community center on Idaho Street. Most streets in North Park are easy to follow or remember with names of States, Presidents and numbers. Great Craft Brew, Barcade, Pizza, Asian Fusion, Mexican, Taverns, Pubs and more. Some less common, but very notable places like Granada House, an event venue that you can reserve for a variety of things like special occasions, private gatherings, celebrations and more is quite the cool find. Similar to Queen Bee's: Cultural Center for enjoying the performing arts in all its forms or the Observatory Theatre. North Park Farmer's Market is a little more close knit than Hillcrest being a Thursday Market from 3pm til 7:30pm, but you'll feel just a welcomed, maybe even more so do to a slightly more intimate space. I can't say enough great things about NP. Rudford's Restaurant is a must, but I absolutely miss the rough around the edges charm of North Park Diner off Ohio Street and those dreamy home fries. The area is very trendy, hip and thriving with life of all ages, but more so in the college to late 40s crowd. Interstate 805 aka the 805 is your friend. Easy public transit. Great residential area and pockets. Parking can be smoother during the week and certain times of day. Like most of San Diego North Park welcomes all. For this evening kayak event, we met at Aqua Adventures where our guides Gunner and Jordan led us out to the bay area. We were able to go at our own speed, but stopped at resting points for everybody to catch up. This was a really fun, chill event out on the water. Unfortunately, I didn't bring a camera so no pics of the seals. Thank you Christel L. for putting this event together!

Driving southbound on the I-5 and exiting Coronado Avenue heading west all the way down towards the…read morePacific Ocean, you will run out of road and hit straight into this beautiful red 3 poles together making John Banks' masterpiece overlooking Imperial Beach. Coronado Avenue turns into Imperial Beach Boulevard at 14th Street. If you turn right onto Seacoast Drive and glance toward the structures, the red poles will display the letter "A" "R" "T" and if you look at the collection from different areas, the 3 red poles will look like extended banners fluttering in the wind. It's a very interesting landmark gracing Imperial Beach. There are two benches on either side of the sculpture where you are welcome to sit and gaze out into the oceans to watch the waves roll in and tides dance about along the beach. I love this artistic landscape beautifying the entrance onto the beach from Imperial Beach Boulevard which literally punctuates this place as exactly what it is... ART! Come and check it out!
