I am not sure what happened to this office, how they went from the best experience to the worst. I have been trying to schedule my next appointment since the very beginning of December 2025. Called multiple times and left a voicemail but never got a call back. One time spoke to the front office and was told someone will call me to schedule an appointment but again no one called. Which is strange because never before I had to get a call from someone else to schedule an appointment it was always the front office who took care of it. Finally reached someone in mid January. I was told the price changed as of January. I let them know that I have been trying to make an appointment since December. The girl at the front office proceeded to lie that they were not really performing the procedure during the price change. I asked to get a manager on the line and she apologized and offered a discount for my next procedure and made my appointment a month out. Days before my appointment I get a call saying the provider who was going to perform the procedure is not ready to provide it for another 2-3 month. WHAT!?!?! I have been coming here since 2021 but will not be coming back. It is sad to see a place I trusted go down like that. read more

I am so impressed with La Jolla Vein & Vascular! In August I had a Superficial Phlebitis behind my knee that was a little scary.... They got me in right away and did an Ultrasound to confirm that I did not have a Blood Clot, so I was safe to travel. They are now my go to for issues I am have with my legs. I transferred here from CVISD where they would not show me my ultrasound prior to treating. The experience getting started here was great, and they were super responsive. They told me they would provide online access to ultrasound scans -- where CVISD wouldn't even let me take photos or video while it was in process! Dr. Steinberger must be one of the friendliest doctors I've ever had the pleasure to work with. She doesn't make you feel rushed in any way, answers all questions, and goes above and beyond explaining things. You can tell that her heart is in it, which matters a lot in my opinion. All of the staff are very outgoing and friendly. The atmosphere in the office is very nice and modern, Liz (the receptionist) is very friendly, and the parking lot is large enough that you'll always find somewhere to park. Don't waste your time & MONEY. I have been coming for a couple years now to see Dr. DeYoung for my venous reflux and he was wonderful, along with his staff. I just saw a new doctor, Dr Steinberger, and my experience wasn't as pleasant. Instead of her addressing some of the concerns & symptoms I am still having, she was dismissive and recommended I go see a laser specialist for cosmetic reasons. That's not the point of why I am seeking "professional" help for my veins. I don't need a med spa type of recommendation. Nice office staff, but I would recommend seeing another doctor who is willing to help to come up with some type of treatment plan and not dismiss your concerns. read more

I don't usually write reviews like this but thought it would be important for others to know. I believe La Jolla Vein Care may be a good option if you just are approved for simple sclerotherapy. That is what I thought I was going in for. I am 42 years old and have a few spider veins that I don't like. After paying $390 for my "Consultation and Ultrasound", I was told that I needed Radio Frequency Ablation and was given a quote of $8,500. Because this sounded like more of a medical procedure, I decided to go through my doctors office for a 2nd opinion. I had another consultation and full ultrasound done with Scripps Vein Clinic, where I met with their Chief Vascular Surgeon. (this guy doesn't just treat superficial varicose veins, he specializes in everything vascular, including carotid artery surgery) My point being, they know what they are doing. Scripps did not find any of the "venus insufficiency" that La Jolla Vein Clinic documented and proposed surgery for. My spider veins can be treated with sclerotherapy at a cost of $300 per session. I will most likely need 2 - 4. I'm very grateful that I got a 2nd opinion and didn't risk my health with a surgery that wasn't needed... not to mention the $8,500 they wanted. read more

Several yrs ago, I had an immune disorder which required taking tissue from my leg for a biopsy. I warned the doctor that I had many ugly spider veins- When she looked at them, though, she stated that it was her strong opinion that they were Varicose Veins/not spider veins and rec'd an appt with a specialist. Since my legs have really hurt my whole life, despite regular yoga and massages, I took her seriously and asked for a referral. She referred me to La Jolla Vein Specialists/Dr Bunke. The office took my insurance and I am so lucky to have found Dr Bunke. Dr. Bunke is an expert, a super - specialist in varicose vein treatment and other vein/vascular disease issues. She's written a professional, medical textbook on this subject, has many years of experience in treating only vein-related probs and has helped me immensely. The process began with Vascular Imaging which identified Venous Reflux Disease, Varicose Veins and Abnormal Artery growth, among other things. Over the course of several years, my Varicose Veins were treated through several Phlebectomies done in the office and Foam Sclerotherapy to close off some veins (I found out/ in the process, that vein "stripping" and a hospital stay are no longer the protocol for Varicose Vein treatment). After the treatment, I was measured for and wore compression stockings and had to walk, un interrupted for at least 30 minutes(?) a day. While I did have to make a personal commitment to follow through with my end of things, I was happy to. The results have been life- changing. My legs, which hurt me since my 20's, are pain -free. And, the treatment was deemed medically necessary and covered by my insurance. I really felt respected and well treated by all of the staff in the office, especially Anna. She's well - organized, kind and patient in managing scheduling, the insurance process and truly treats patients with the highest regard. Every now and then, I have to go in for a follow-up/ check- up, but I'm pretty much done. My legs are now no longer in constant pain and probably even look better. Dr Bunke and her staff are true gems. I'm so lucky that my other doctor accurately identified my Varicose Veins and referred me to her. They can often be overlooked/ mis - diagnosed by alot of doctors. I'm very grateful to be treated so thoroughly and accurately with the highest expertise. I trust Dr. Burke 100% and highly recommend her and La Jolla Vein Care to anyone with Varicose Vein issues. I know that they also treat cosmetic vein issues but I don't have any experience with that. I am so glad that I chose La Jolla Vein Care! I had been bothered by spider veins for many years especially since pregnancy. They took great care to do an ultrasound to make sure there were no underlying issues. I had sclerotherapy. It is a cosmetic procedure and not covered by my insurance, but I felt it was fairly priced and I wanted my treatment done in a doctors office. I have been dealing with post pulmonary emboli leg problems for 44 years. My vascular doctor referred me to La Jolla Vein Care over ten years ago and first Dr. Bergan and then Dr. Bunke have guided my varicose veins with ulcerations to FULL recovery. The care that I received from ALL the staff at La Jolla Vein Care has been exceptional! A course of treatment was decided upon by Dr. Sarah Lucas, after a thorough ultrasound was performed by Jessica King, the Director of Venous Imaging...very fascinating to see the condition of my veins by ultrasound. I can't say enough good things about the professionalism/care/competence of these two as they worked together throughout the course of my treatments. They're just outstanding!! I received three forms of treatment: Clarivein, Radio Frequency Ablation and US Guided Sclerotherapy. These procedures were thoroughly explained beforehand and education about follow-up care was provided verbally as well as in handouts. My follow-up care throughout the procedures with Nurse Practitioner Anna Cardinell was also exceptional.
