My partner and I dined for breakfast daily and loved the crepe bar, variety of fruits, and made to order omelettes. Breakfast is 5/5 stars. However, we also dined at La Laguna one night for dinner out for the 7 nights we stayed at the Fairmont and it was the worst meal of the trip! The service is incredibly slow. We order guacamole, tortilla soup, chicken mole, and tacos. The guacamole was great and came out a minute before the tortilla soup and mole. The mole was way too sweet and was a 5/10. Meanwhile we finished all 3 dishes and waited 25 minutes until our server came back. Given the wait we asked for the check and to not bring the tacos (which we felt bad about). Needless to say the food is below average and the service will keep you waiting long enough to go home covered in mosquito bites if you didn't douse yourself in bug spray before heading to the restaurant. My husband and I are honeymooning at the Fairmont Mayakoba. We took advantage of the all-inclusive package, which allows us to dine at just about all of the restaurants on the resort grounds. During our first day in Mexico, we dined at the La Laguna and had an excellent experience. We were greeted by the hostess who asked if we had a reservation. We didn't make one, but there were plenty of seats available. She sat us at a two-seater with a beautiful view of the water and adult pool. We were then quickly greeted by our waiter and pour of the glasses of water and made menu and drink suggestions. We started with the guacamole and queso fundido, the waiter also provided us with some tasty bread as well. The guacamole was so fresh and tasty, the dipping chips were sturdy enough for dipping but not too hard to chew. The queso fundido was also very tasty. For our main course, I ordered the pork chop and my husband had the catch of the day which was sea bass. The courses were amazing, seasonings were awesome and the meats were cooked to perfection. We will definitely be returning to dine again during one of our remaining six days.

Last night was our departure meal from Mexico. Met up with some friends at the restaurant for a meal to enjoy conversations of what we did on our trip. Service and food was on par at La Laguna overlooking the lagoon at night. A beautiful sanctuary hidden in the forest and surrounded by water. Be aware that their limited menu choices make for an ideal meal. They will perfect the food selections as they come out to your table. I had ordered the grilled octopus with cauliflower and cream sauce, and some greens. If you're a fan of octopus, they do it really well. It had a nice char and drizzled with marinade. The margaritas were strong and perfect for the night. They made guacamole at the table. It is freshly prepared for you as you can request the strength of each ingredient to the recipe. Our meal was wonderful. A perfect ending for our relaxing vacation. Couldn't have been to a nicer resort with this many food selections.

La Laguna was absolutely beautiful and magical at night. I came here with my fiance for drinks after dinner (did not eat here) and we were seated on the outside patio right on the lagoon. Lighting and ambiance were spot on. Our server Edwin was fantastic and made us feel so welcome. He was very attentive and made our experience so much more enjoyable (Didnt order food)

We're at an all inclusive resort for our honeymoon and of course we are going to eat at every restaurant on the premises. This was our first night here so we decided to check out La Laguna as it was closest to our casita. We walked through the pool area to reach the restaurant and it is situated along the river. We were greeted by name as we RSVP'd earlier in the day. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the slight breeze off the water and it was a beautiful experience. Our waiter greeted us and gave us the dishes and appetizers he'd recommend. He also gave us drink options and we weren't disappointed. The ambiance was calm and serene. I wish I had this option back home. My wife and I eat at a lot of places but so far this was the best. We could here the birds and other animals nearby such as the coatis. The animals were not threatening at all and it didn't bother us. We had some fresh guacamole, queso and bread. My wife loves guacamole and orders it anytime we go to a Mexican restaurant. The queso was way different than the way we receive it back home. It was extra cheesy as the cheese was stretching whenever we dipped a chip in it. And the bread was made fresh on the premises and served with an oil, butter mixture that tasted so good. For my main course I ordered the whole fish(Bass) grilled and as you can see in the pics it was a delight to see as well as to eat. The fresh veggies and burnt lemon all brought the flavors of the fish together so well. Not to mention, it was a huge fish, I almost did not eat it all. Overall it was a great experience and since we are here for 7 days, we'll probably try lunch here as well.

4.25 Dinner was excellent, and breakfast was equally enjoyable. The service was helpful, friendly and attentive. The house Cabernet Sauvignon was delicious paired with the best chille relleno that ive had. For breakfast I went for the red chicken chilaquiles. I'll eat here for breakfast every morning this week and again for dinner if I can help it.

Ate breakfast here Daily. It was such a great choice to include it in the resort. Everything was included. There was American and Mexican fare. Many choices for juices, cheeses and breads. They have a Mexican section where you can have many different tortillas. The cochinita was delicious. All the juices are fresh squeezed and taste delicious! There are many fruit juices to choose from. The staff are very efficient. They are continually refilling the areas with the specific foods. The areas are clean. Do recommend

We came here on our first day of the honeymoon for an early dinner and drinks. My wife loved the raspberry Paloma (the best she's ever had) and I enjoyed a strawberry margarita. The restaurant was very vegan and special diet aware and made sure everything we ordered was vegan for my wife. The chips, salsa and guacamole was great. I had the red snapper fish which was the catch of the day. My wife got vegan "gorditas" which she enjoyed. The atmosphere is great, the staff is accommodating and friendly. I am also going to review the overall hotel experience (amazing) so check that out as well! Overall breakfast buffet and al la carte is also great, recommend the eggs Benedict with salmon! We had the all inclusive package which was amazing!

We are staying at the fairmont with an inclusive dining package so we have already had breakfast lunch and dinner here. All have been good. The cocktails have been incredible. They are definitely the best in the resort. Each mixed with fresh local fruits and I cannot say enough good things. We thoroughly enjoyed our first lunch here and the dinner was well done. I will say that the salads and desserts should not be missed!! The entrees were okay but every app and side was fantastic so far.

We chose La Marea after researching it on Tripadvisor, Google and elsewhere, looking at photos and reading credible reviews. La Marea did not fail to deliver on a perfect dining experience. The restaurant is located inside the Viceroy Riviera Maya hotel. It was really hard to find, but that made the experience all that more enjoyable. The Viceroy is the definition of a hidden gem. We were received in a palapa in the reception area of this beautiful property. It was night and the the hotel employee accompanied us through lighted pathways through the hotel's grounds that are covered in lush foliage. The restaurant is located near the water's edge and sits above the hotel's lovely pool and overlooking the bar. The open air restaurant is very, very romantic and well-accoutered with comfortable seating, fine flatware and unique pottery. The menu and wine menu are impressively large, with many Mexican influences. There were so many choices on the regular menu that we could hardly decide what we wanted; they also have a tasting menu, so to have the most diverse dining experience, we chose to have that. I would like to say what great service we received from our waiter Sergio and all the other wait staff and hotel employees (they really make you feel like a VIP), and I would also like to praise Chef Carlos Zamora's creative dishes: they all show the incredible quality of Mexican cuisine in the hands of an artist. Just for fun, we had a coatimundi come into the restaurant from the surrounding trees while we were dining, which was just so amusing to see (I don't think it was his first time). If you want to celebrate a special occasion, or just want to celebrate life, please make a reservation and dine here!

Okay, where do I start…read more I made a reservation about a month before our trip, they were already pretty booked so I made a 4:45pm. I somehow missed that the coursed meal doesn't start until 6...and we didn't realize until same day. They couldn't rebook us until 9PM but told us to swing by early to see if they could get us in AND THEY DID. It was a Christmas miracle. And I'm glad they did because the whole experience was about 2.5 hours from start to finish. The place isn't very big, but is beautiful inside. They have an awesome bar and and open kitchen so you can see everything. It's a really neat place. We were seated pretty quick once they got the table cleaned, and then were greeted by our waitress. When we told her we were there for the 8 course meal, they switched waiters on us, and then the upselling started. Right off the bat they tried to talk us into a cocktail...when we were doing a pairing with our meal. It took them a little time to get the meal going, and then between courses was a little hit or miss. Sometimes it was free flowing and sometimes it took 10-15 minutes to get our next dish. The food. We were a little nervous we would leave still a little hungry but I assure you, you will not. For ~$100USD each, you get so much food, and a drink with every course. It was fantastic and so worth it. Here were the courses and pairings (that I can remember lol): 1. We started with the dips - a bean dip with cheese sauce and guacamole with crickets. Very classic, very well done. The crickets added a nice, nutty flavor. I was a huge fan of the beans with their blue corn tostadas, so much flavor. They also had a third dip that was pumpkin seed based, it was good but not as memorable. Their hot sauces came out with this course. It was paired with a house mezcal (with salts, cucumber, and orange) that was incredible and smooth. 2. Shrimp ceviche which was super refreshing and flavorful. They paired this with sparkling wine. 3. Sea bass with a cream sauce and grapefruit. I'm not a huge fishy flavor person - my first bite had all three compnents and I thought it was delicious. My husband just had fish as his first bite and thought it a little fishy, but once we added everything else he agreed it was great. Three small pieces, so it was a nice course. Paired with a sauv blanc. 4. Roasted tomatoes in a mole sauce. A nice veggie course. I thought they were cooked well, nothing super fancy. Paired with a Chardonnay. 5. Cooked shrimp with potatoes. My husband called this a "filler" course - there wasn't much to it. The sauce had some greens in it but it was just something light and easy to serve. Can't remember the pairing here. 6. THE CARROTS. MY FAV THING. OMG. Literally so fresh, the perfect texture, and the sauces. I could have eated a whole bowl with this one. Paired it with a red blend. 7. Cow tongue. I forgot a photo. I was starting to get drunk, I'm sorry. Paired with a red wine. This was tender, the sauce was delicious. If you're not used to beef tongue, please don't let it scare you. It was amazing. 8. Dessert. Also amazing. I think it was paired with a sweet red but....a little drunk here...we got a cheesecake which was more on the savory side, super unique, and so delicious. I was a huge fan. We also got a passion fruit custard and I'm a SUCKER for passion fruit. This was phenomenal. The food was INCREDIBLE. And such an amazing experience. And now the loss of a star. I hit on the service a little, but there was also some upselling which we don't love, especially at what is supposed to be michelin recognized. We often try Michelin recognized when we travel and the upselling was unexpected, I undertsand the culture down here, but still. ALSO we LOVED the house mezcal so much we asked for another shot ($280 pesos/shot). When we got the bill, the waiter upcharged to one of the most expensive mezcals on their menu ($520 pesos/shot) and refused to change it. We spent $60 on two shots after paying for our 8-course meal. It honestly was SUCH a dissapointing end to our meal and felt so icky. Be very careful with the service here.

Most ceviches are marinated in the same ingredients: lime, tomatoes, jalapeños, red onions, and cilantro. Casa Amate's ceviche was unlike anything I've ever had. Instead of the usual ingredients, the Kampachi Ceviche used roasted corn kennels, sweet potato slices, cornnuts (canchita) and was served on a pool of rocoto chile cream for the eater to mix as desired. For the main course, I ordered the Pampa y Costa, which was oyster and wagyu with chimichurri sauce, served in a large oyster shell. The oysters were the star of the show, while the wagyu and chimichurri sauce didn't really add much to the dish itself.
