Bacon egg and cheese with a hashbrown

A very cool and unique way to enjoy waffles! Look I'm the first guy to tear into an egg and cheese on a bagel. But to have it on a waffle instead is a cool and interesting experience. Very tasty waffle and a very welcoming staff. They do savory or sweet and have an array of coffees. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed this new waffle restaurant that came to town! It's a small place with some seating indoors and options to really customize the waffle you want. Offers savory and sweet options, even including a menu item with a hot dog. Prices are very fair and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating (and also willing to help us choose from all the options) Will definitely come again!

The American. Chicken & waffle with hot honey syrup. Chicken was cooked to perfection and the hot honey was a great combination.

Food was excellent. Inside was very clean. Prices were reasonable .The owner was super friendly!!

The first thing I did was head straight for my favorite, Cantillon from Belgium. This visit, I tried their Kriek LG, a fruited lambic made by adding sour cherries to a two-year-old aged lambic. All I can say is... WOW! Tart, complex, refreshing, and dangerously drinkable. If beer could win an Academy Award, this one would be giving an acceptance speech. Now, let's talk food. I ordered the Thai Curry Mussels, and they were absolutely outstanding. The broth was packed with flavor, and the mussels were cooked perfectly. They easily rank in the top five mussel dishes I've ever had, and I've done my research! Pro tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of eating all the bread first. Save some for the end so you can soak up every last drop of that incredible curry broth at the bottom of the bowl. Trust me, you'll thank me later. The service is always excellent. John usually takes care of us in the back, and he consistently makes the experience even better with great recommendations and friendly service. In side is cozy and friendly! If you live in Philly and haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Great beer, amazing food, and outstanding service--this place checks every box. Just be warned: one visit and you'll be planning your next trip back before you even leave.

Since the bar seats were full, we had the choice to head all the way to the 2nd rear bar. We took the short journey to the secluded small bar that was also full and took refuge at one of the four tables. We took a look at the "Beer Bible" or their version of a drink menu. The bartender informed us that we could not sit at the table unless we were ordering food. At this point we ended our pub crawl and left defeated scratching our heads. This was far from a classy place without a line out the door during the week which made it even more alarming. Interesting experience as our last taste of Philly.

Located in East Harlem, the subway took me to 103rd Street. A steep hill fortified my appetite. Cafe D'Anvers is easy to spot with it's inviting red exterior. Laura was at the table. Jackie greeted us cheerfully. We came here for Moules Frites which we ordered and a glass of Sancerre to wash it down. Two large kettles were put down in front of us with plenty of mussels and a separate bowl of fries. Mayo and ketchup to dip the fries. I prefer mayo. We ate our way enjoying the meal. Dessert was vanilla ice cream with a sour cherry sauce and their signature chocolate mousse with strawberries and puffs of whipped cream. Both desserts satisfied immense. I recognized the mousse cups as I had bought them at Eataly. Jackie told us that they make the mousse and have an account with Eataly to sell it there. Laura and I enjoyed our lunch here. I also spied Jo Malone hand wash of English Pear and Freesia in the gender neutral restroom. Cafe D'Anvers is a cozy restaurant with both seating and a bar area. I am looking forward to another meal here.

Never-the-less, service was great, given that I was the only person they had to take care of.

We appreciated the fans set up to keep the air circulating. Service was very attentive while we were there. Everyone with whom we interacted was gracious, friendly and attentive. Really, no complaints about service. The food? We had some hits and some misses. The mussels were a hit and the portion was generous. The fries were great but some crusty French bread would have been a good addition, to help soak up the flavorful broth. The Merguez sandwich was a miss. Despite the menu stating that it was served on a baguette (and picture on Yelp of other diners receiving the sandwich on a baguette), ours was served on ciabatta. Really, not the same thing. We did not say anything at the time but we would not have ordered it had we known. Total disappointment. Also, the person on our party that ordered this sandwich found the fries way too salty. Luckily, the attentive staff kept the water refills flowing. I doubt we would return to this restaurant in the future the next time we're in the area, despite the friendly and attentive service.

Through the years the fries and sauces have shifted slightly, but overall it's the exact same iconic experience it's always been. When you're down for pure salty‑crispy fry bliss with a ridiculous lineup of sauces, this is the spot. Whether it's a pre‑funk stop, a post‑drinks craving, or just a "treat yourself" moment, Pomme Frites stays tried‑and‑true. The fries come out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked every time. The sauces are still the star -- you can't go wrong with any of them. It's one of the few places that's stayed consistent in a city that changes every five minutes. Still my favorite fry spot in NYC... and honestly the only place that even comes close is Reykjavik fries in Iceland. Forever a classic. Forever worth the stop.

The fries are more like french cut fries (though I'm more of a shoe string kinda gal). These are actual fries too.. as in like 4 inches and none of this 1 inch crumbs a lot of places try to pull off There is a place in near where I live that is also a fry shoppe (nowhere nearly as good as Pomme Frites) that has options for different cuts of fries (but not all types are freshly cut). It would be cool to see an option for this that is all fresh cut, though it may not be feasible.

Wow, how have I not reviewed one of my favorite go-to spots in NYC yet!!??…read more I have been going to BXL Cafe since the mid-2000's and make a point of hitting it every single visit to the city. The first time, we stumbled into it during a snowstorm, seeking shelter after visiting Time Square with a group of friends, one of whom was in the city with us for his very last trip on this earth. He was very sadly dying of cancer and dreamed of being able to go to NYC one last time. May he be resting in peace. On my last night in the city, I suggested to clients of mine that we hit BXL Cafe and they were all willing and ready. Like every other visit, the service, drinks and food were all fantastic so I'm surprised by some of the 3-star reviews because this place is fantastic. This was a Thursday night and the place was absolutely mobbed. It was a bit of a squeeze getting to the table I reserved in the back where I joined my clients/friends of many years. Our server was awesome, very attentive, friendly, and put up with us trying to hook up our one single buddy at the table that night. She suggested we start with the croquettes and even though I had been raving about the mussels, some in our party ordered other things. No clue why! The mussels are always amazing. My clients/friends did enjoy what they ordered. The croquettes were very tasty; I believe my favorite was the ham croquettes. I didn't quite care for the shrimp croquettes, I mean, if I had to pick in the future. My go-to has always been the Thailandaise Mussels with coconut milk, lemon grass and curry. This has always been so awesome, I never stray from it. Sooooo good and a massive portion in a big 'ol black pot served with crusty bread and a big portion of fries. I guess my only complaint would be that while the fries are good and crispy, they aren't the traditional double fried in duck fat fries of true Belgian Moules Frites eateries. My favorite in this true Belgian way is the fries served at Wurstkuche in L.A. (of all places). These fries are absolutely heavenly and I'd suggest BXL (and The Back Abbey in Claremont, CA) set up a conference call with Wurstkuche so they can perfect theirs. Still, BXL Cafe is an absolutely wonderful stop and well, the beer on tap and by the bottle is always fantastic and fresh. Long live BXL Cafe! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
