We stopped in La Luna on our tour of the eastern US and it was all that we could have hoped for: great service, excellent food, and wonderful views. The beet salad was fresh and delicious, though it had just a touch too much dressing for my taste. The roasted red pepper bisque was surprisingly light and packed with flavor. The star of our meal was Linguine with Clam Sauce that has a great smokey, garlic flavor. I seriously thought about getting a second order to go. The meal was complemented by good wines. If we make it back through Rochester we will be back. read more

I am only giving 1 star because they don't have an option for 0!... We had a bridal shower at LaLuna, the venue setting is beautiful but they never cleaned up the cobwebs, the event coordinator, Noy, never responded to us until the day before the shower and when she did respond, she changed almost everything on us (the pricing, the time we could show up to setup, the menu...)... Then the day of, she showed up 10 minutes before the event started, so her poor staff couldn't find everything to help us setup, she tried to blame the bartender for her mistakes, when they served the food was the time she decided to tell us that they were NOT making the 4 Gluten Free meals we were promised (so our guests didn't have much to eat). Fortunately we did a great job at decorating ourselves because leaving anything up to Noy meant we wouldn't have had a bridal shower at all. read more

So we recently had a baby shower at La Luna. Our experience started off good as we received an email from the planner with an awesome price for the brunch menu. Well...come to find out a month later they had sent us a menu that was over a year old and the new menu was over $10 more per person! My advice to the restaurant...delete old menus so you don't send them out to customers! They did work with us to come up with a menu that was somewhere in between so that was nice. When I met with the event planner she said that we could come an hour early to set up for the event (event was at 11 so we could be there at 10). So we showed up at 10 to start decorating and there was no one there....for TWENTY MORE MINUTES! They showed up 20 minutes LATE when we already only had an hour to decorate. They didn't event apologize for being late. We were also told the food would be served at 11:30..well it wasn't served until closer to 12. Also, we had mimosa's included in our menu. It was XX amount per person for mimosa's (not XX amount per mimosa) and we were not told these would be limited in any way. Well...they made a certain number of pitchers and when they were gone that was it....but this was not communicated to us at all during the planning phase. On the positive...they had centerpieces leftover from a wedding the night before that they actually saved and used for centerpieces for our event. The restaurant is nice and the food is good, but they really need to work on their time management and communication! read more

La Luna truly deserves 0/5 stars. Stergios, the owner, is an incredibly difficult, non-communicative person. We were hosting an event there and he was very difficult to get a hold of - unresponsive to emails and calls. He was extremely temperamental - friendly one second, rude the next. He tried to nickle and dime us the entire way. He also told us he didn't have a contract - who doesn't have a contract when they're hosting events?! We stopped in one night in April to test the place out on a random night and he had booked a baby shower for the space and there was no space inside for us to eat. His solution was to sit us outside - in April - in Rochester. He put heating lamps near us, but we were still cold! As we started expressing our dissatisfaction, we started hearing stories from others about how terribly they'd been treated by Stergios. When we heard rumors he watered down the alcohol for large parties, we switched venues. He kept our deposit and threatened to sue us. I have never worked with someone so extremely unprofessional. He obviously care more about profit than customer satisfaction, which is a sure recipe for closing. Save yourself stress and money and avoid this place like the plague! read more

La Luna is a gorgeous and unique space. Unfortunately their coordinator... Noy Cohen, is horrible. My experiences with La Luna have been nothing short of horrific. Upon first meeting with Noy she is uninterested in your event. It is impossible to get her to answer questions; she is distracted, unfriendly and does not seem knowledgeable about her industry and even her venue. When we asked about Noy's responsibilities for the event, whether she sets up and takes down, assists with planning, attends the rehearsal her answer was no. she said we are to do those things ourselves. She had forgotten about our meal tasting we had schedule and had us order off the lunch menu which was completely irrelevant from the event menu. Immediately following this meeting we hired a wedding coordinator, not wanting to do any of these things ourselves. After doing a TON of research on coordinators we settled on one that met all of our needs and began working with her immediately. A few weeks later Noy found out we had hired someone and her response was beyond unprofessional. She refused to allow us to have a coordinator stating that she wouldn't let someone else into HER venue. She then offered me a list of coordinating services at $40 an hour and stated I have to pay her and can not pay someone else. These services were never once discussed or offered to us in the past, and at this point I am already invested in who I hired. After checking our contract and consulting with our attorney we were certain we were not breaking any rules and told Noy we were going to continue with our coordinator. She again refused, said it is unacceptable and she wont allow it. After she hung up on my fiancé twice and refused to allow us to speak to the owner we asked for our money back and began looking at other venues 8 weeks before our wedding. She agreed to refund out deposit and was given a deadline of one week from the day we spoke. A day before the refund was due she contacted the company my coordinator works for. She tried to make a deal with them asking for a cut of their earning. She sent a text to the owner of the company and said: "We have decided that for this wedding only, we will allow your coordinator in, however, a fee of 30% of the $750 booking fee would need to be paid to me to not be present at the event. If the client is still interested in the venue then this is what we have decided. Thank you." They obviously were not interested in paying an arbitrary fee for her to do nothing and her angle was essentially extortion. 5 weeks out from our wedding I gave up. We had not found an alternate venue and I just wanted to get on with planning so I reached out to Noy and stated again that we would like to continue with the coordinator we have and that we will pay the fee ourselves. It appears she was unware I had been informed of the conversation with the coordinator because she then asked me for $300. When I confronted her about why the fee has changed, referencing the above text I received via email she disappeared. I never heard from her again. From four weeks until my wedding I worked with Stergios, the owner, and my wedding coordinator. Initially he was difficult to work with, confrontational and hard to communicate with. He lightened up eventually and was able to execute his responsibilities which included dinner service and managing his staff along side my coordinator. He remained at my wedding the entire evening. I have talked to several La Luna brides who have had negative experiences with Noy. I have been told that she has left several weddings, one even before the ceremony began... and left in charge individuals who were uninformed of the expectations for the evening forcing the bride to run her own wedding. This type of behavior is simply unacceptable in a wedding coordinator. It was also in my contract that there would be a bridal suite and upon meeting with Noy we were told it was being renovate and would be complete way before our wedding. Anytime we went we were told it was still under renovation. Upon arrival to my wedding we learned there was no such bridal suite and we were instructed to put out things on the stair landing. There was a separate bathroom for us to use but no where for us to take a break, freshen up or get ready. My wedding was beautiful, but this is all thanks to the coordinator I hired and not Noy, or La Luna. Dinner was great with the exception of the "garlic smashed potatoes" they had so much pepper in them they were completely brown, and hardly anyone ate them. The rest of the meal was delicious. I would not recommend La Luna to anyone until Noy is gone. She will make you feel like you are nothing more than a dollar and will do nothing to earn it. She takes credit for work that isn't hers. She is unprofessional to say the least and I would not want anyone to have to go through what we went through. read more

Dinner at LaLuna was great! Had meatballs and the arancini first. Loved them! Crispy on outside and cheesy on inside. The meatballs were huge. My husband had the chicken parm. Rated it the best he had ever had. I had penne vodka with chicken. Would get again. Great evening from beginning to end. Good food and good wine. Will be back. read more

I had my wedding here on 10/8/16 and had worked with Noy the entire time. After reading a bunch of negative reviews I must say I am shocked. She catered to each and every one of our needs and was very attentive! I probably changed my mind several times with things and she kept up with each and every one of them. We set up several meetings with her (some which we probably didn't need but I was a nervous bride lol and wanted to make sure things were getting done- which they were). I had Noy set up the entire wedding including putting my centerpieces together and she did an amazing job !!! When I walked in the venue the day of the wedding my jaw dropped and couldn't believe how absolutely stunning it looked! She turned the best day of our lives into a magical evening that went perfect! At one point there was a line at the bar and Noy jumped right in and started serving drinks as well! Noy- thank you so much for making our dream wedding come true! We couldn't have done it without you!! The only reason I give La Luna four stars instead of five is because the food was just okay. The eggplant parm and salmon were great but the chicken Marsala was barely warm and a little dry - but it's hard to expect to much from such a large event . read more

I ordered the Roasted Beet Salad with the addition of chicken. I can understand the chicken being a bit over cooked, at least it was warm, BUT the issue was the 'roasted beets' were sliced beets from a can. I wouldn't have minded the salad being so small if the beets were actually roasted (or even warm) but at $9 a plate 6 cold beet slices with some greens on the side is a bit steep. Had a wedding there 8/29/15 Food and service was decent. Then the nightmare began.Someone stole the wedding gift envelopes with money in them. The table to put the envelopes was right next to the kitchen in a dark hallway. The restaurant help walked past it all night, When we called the next night and told the owner what happened, he was not helpful at all.He got upset when all we wanted was to see if he had any camera's or if he could check with the staff. NOTHING. He could or would not help us. Just be very careful if you want to go there. But please do not book a wedding, or bring your own security. I help set up for a sweet 16 there. The event planner Noy was very rude and unprofessional. We were setting up a back drop and one of the poles were being held on the dance floor, she yelled you're scratching the floors. We did not scratch the floors and the last time those floors were done had to be 2004 when I attended an all white party. She stood over us, did not stand by the contract. The owner was also very rude and nasty. The kitchen staff were very nice and respectful. I would never recommend this venue due to the disrespect we were shown. read more

I've been here twice and I LOVE IT! This is probably now one of my top places to eat in Rochester. While it's a little on the expensive side, it's amazing Italian food. Worth every penny. Their house red wine is great. The first time I went I got pasta with mushroom Alfredo sauce. It was so amazing. The portion size was pretty big. I ended up taking half of it home. The second time I had the mushroom ravioli in Alfredo sauce, which was absolutely amazing. The ravioli were huge. It came with 4 or 5 of them. My boyfriend had the pizza which he said was perfect and my father had the salmon. It was grilled perfectly and seasoned just right. It wasn't dry or mushy. We sat outside and enjoyed the view and the weather on a covered patio. The service was fast. The waiter knew the menu and answered any questions we had knowledgeably. This is probably my favorite Italian place in Rochester. I'm always recommending this place to my friends, family and co-workers when they're looking for a nice place to eat out. read more

I met on 1/25/17 with the event planner Noy Cohen about spefics of renting La Luna for my daughters Sweet Sixteen.Prior to this meeting she sent me prices of the venue that changed once I arrived.Noy said that the information was confusing and assured me that everything was current.We went over all the details in that meeting.She really wasn't that pleasant with that meeting.After that Noy didn't really communicate well with me about details of the party.A couple of days before the function Noy sent an email about concern about the children tearing up the building and attempting to take away an hour for the function.I immediately reached out to her via phone and she ignored my calls.So I called her from a different number and she picked up.I asked her why are you avoiding my calls after you sent the email. She didn't have a very good response. I asked her do you send that type of email to all your customers rather the function? She still never gave invoice so I texted her that I was nervous the day before the function.She called me being really rude and unprofessional that truly ruined the party before it got started.I cried because if it wasn't the day before my daughters party I would of definitely wouldn't have gave them a dime.Remind you the owner never came forth. The day of the party Noy was there being extremely rude to my party planner and guests.The owner closed the door in my party planners face as she attempted to bring in items. My grandparents told me how rude they were once I arrived so I pulled Noy aside to talk about the attitude.She denied it as six other people that witnessed it said otherwise..They brought the $600 worth of food out before the guests arrived after being asked to bring it out at another time..So when the guest arrived it was cold and nasty. La Luna is a gem in the City of Rochester. I hosted a large birthday party at La Luna and it was the perfect space. We had about 200 plus people and the space still had plenty of room. The food was great and staff was very attentive. Noy the event manager is great to work with and very talented. The owner was onsite and made sure every thing went smooth. The outside deck is great with an amazing view and a great area for cigars and drinks. I have also attended several events at this space and it has always been fun. read more

Came here for lunch with my fiance (who works nearby and has an hour lunch break), and his sister and mom. We ordered 2 Caesar wraps and 2 salads behind a table of about 8, and waited an hour for our food. Our waitress was lovely, we had good service- however, as a past sous chef, I'm definitely dismayed that my fiance had to have his lunch packed after his break was over to eat back at the office- there's really no reason that a sous chef can't put out two uncomplicated salads and two Caesar wraps ahead of an 8-top. my second time eating here, I can say it as definitely better the first time we are here but this past weekend the food was still good. one thing I did not like was the lack of quick service, was told because they were understaffed and it was busier than expected was the reason why water refills and bringing the check back to us were abnormally slower than usual. Even though on our way out there was maybe a total of 7 tables of guests between inside and the patio? We had our wedding here on 11/5/16. Our actual wedding night turned out amazing! The food was incredible, the staff was great, and everything came together perfectly. The event coordinator, Noy, and the owner were there the whole night making sure everything ran smoothly. Our guests had nothing but great things to say about it. We were able to come in the day before our wedding to set up the little details and make sure everything where and how we wanted it. Noy was easy to work with over emails and she answered any questions we had. If you communicate exactly what you want, there should be no issues. It is a such a beautiful venue to get married at and I would recommend it to those searching for a unique place to get married in Rochester. read more

I love love love the food here!!! Every time we go it is consistently good. Best aranchinis around. I love that they don't put meat in there like many other places. Love the vodka sauce, chicken Marsala, salads. My fiancée had an amazing steak special last time we went. Servers are always great, view off outside terrace is amazing. Especially during summer time. You can even sit outside and dine. So I don't know why it is also always dead when we go. I mean one time we were the only table in there on a weekend night. Which was fine bc we had a large group. Weird and awkward atmosphere! How do you mess up a business with a great location and great view? Someone is not managing this restaurant wisely. We called ahead and we were told that they were busy but could squeeze us in. When we arrived to our surprise the restaurant was half full (at best). It took us over 20 minutes to get our drinks ordered which seemed way too long especially considering they were not busy. The food was good, however nothing to rave about. My mushroom ravioli was good but literally had only four small ravioli for almost $20. They didn't even provide you a salad with your entree which is normal in just about every italian restaurant. As far as our waiter he had no personality and didn't even know if he could serve us the bottle of wine we ordered because it had a 2008 vintage. We sat outside; there was no lighting, no music, no atmosphere at all. All in all we would not go back until they make some serious changes. We had a Christmas Party in the back formal dinning room. It was intimate, clean, and the Staff of 3 was perfect! Noi, Connie and Michele were over attentive to the party and what ever was needed they were there, and were so friendly and welcoming. Spoke to each of us, made us feel like we were the only people in the place that mattered. The food was amazing, and of course the open bar that our company gave us was the bomb.
