Sagra is sort of a fast casual concept where you order your food at the counter, and it's brought to your table. The decor is really nice, green walls with wood and metal accents. There is a full bar and a nice menu of Italian favorites. I had the pasta al funghi, which was delicious, if not a huge portion. My husband had the eggplant cutlet sandwich. We took a la bianca pizza to go (white pizza with roasted greens and ricotta) and that was excellent. I'm glad this location was utilized after losing Fifth Frame. I will return to try other dishes! The food at Sagra Italia was fresh and more interesting than almost any other Italian I've had in the Rochester area. The pasta la Limone was rich and creamy and just lemony enough. I was seriously impressed with the salad. It was VERY bright and acidic and had a fantastic lemon vinaigrette and was served with house made foccacia croutons and a lemon wedge. It was honestly THE most interesting and memorable green salad I've had in years. The La Bianca focaccia pizza was rich and indulgent with an amazing texture to the crust. The desert focaccia with blueberries wasn't as big of a hit. It was sweet but the firm texture of the item as served, cold, was more like crusty French bread with random blueberries in it rather than a desert. Unfortunately, our visit to Sagra Italia got off to a rough start. We walked in, saw a clearly placed 'please wait to be seated' sign and then proceeded to hang out at the table with the wait to be seated sign for SEVERAL minutes. I tried to make eye contact with the bartender and the person at the front counter but since they didn't engage I assumed that there was in fact a host or hostess who would come to seat us. I eventually went to the front counter and said we'd been waiting to be seated for a few minutes and the person said that being seated was only for Friday and Saturday nights. I was crabby and said they should take the wait to be seated sign down. There is ALSO a sign saying to order at the front counter on the same table but we didn't read that one once we saw the wait to be seated sign. Despite that start, the rest of our interactions with the front counter person were good. read more

The space is charming and cozy with an open kitchen concept. We were seated with menus and instructed to order at the counter when we were ready. The staff were friendly and patient. Our app and mains arrived close together, but expected with this kind of ordering system so we did not mind. Artichoke hearts stole the show! Dainty, salty, perfectly fried and paired with a zingy lemon aioli. My mom loved the broth in the seafood dish and the quantity of seafood was appropriate for the price. My dad enjoyed the lasagne and its large portion size allowed us all to share. The Eggplant Cutlet in my dish was lackluster. The breading needed depth - oregano, salt, something more to make it worth that $7 up charge. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente and the sauce was lovely. I wish the sauce had more zing to it (but that's personal preference, not everyone is into a very lemon forward meal...although it was its namesake). Once I heard Sagra Italia had opened, I was so excited to try it, especially because they make their lasagna with bechamel instead of ricotta. Unfortunately, when I ordered delivery today they were sold out of the lasagna (it must be that good!), so I got the bolognese and a half caesar salad. The pasta was so good, lots of meat in the bolognese and tons of flavor. The pasta was cooked nicely al dente, even after surviving delivery transit time. Generous portion that had me very full. The half caesar was also a pretty big portion to me, and it came with a huge cup of dressing, which I appreciated. The croutons were my favorite part, so crispy! Overall I really enjoyed my meal and I hope to stop in for dine-in soon to try the lasagna! read more

I've heard a lot of buzz for Sagra and was excited to stop in on a Saturday afternoon. We were easily able to find street parking. The space is quite large with plenty of seating (including bar side) and an area with local goods for sale. The concept is explained well with signs making it clear that you go up to the counter order and then your food is brought out to you. The ordering process is easy and the turn around time for our food was quite quick. We ordered a few plates to share between our party of 5 including the meatball, apulia cutlet sandwich, and vodka cream pasta with chicken. The food was very good. I enjoyed the flavor of the meatball, the foccia bread cutlet sandwich, and the delicious flavor of the vodka sauce. The sandwich was tasty but the sautéed rapini added flavor to the sandwich which didn't work well for me combined with the other ingredients. I enjoyed it more taking off the rapini and eating it on the side. Overall, very happy with our visit and would like to try a different sandwich, as well as one of the homemade pasta's next time. read more

Wish I could give 7 stars. We got three dishes for take out. Place is so cute and the food was ready and hot. Everyone was really nice. The family that owns it are fantastic people. And the food. The lasagna bolognese is now one of my favorite dishes ever. Perfection. The bechamel sauce on top throws this to the stratosphere. And the la Bianca pizza was so unique with the lemon ricotta. Their pizza is next level with a delightfully crispy crust and generous, fresh toppings. My son had the lasagna which was so good, and my husband was a big fan of the bolognese. Cute casual Italian restaurant. It is counter service but they bring your meals out to you. I ordered the Marinara pasta as the noodles were handmade which really ups the taste and quality of the meal. My friend ordered the vodka pasta which was creamy and also delicious. Brand new place just opened couple months ago. Nice cozy dimly lit atmosphere. However it was a little cold inside. Not much parking I'm aware of but found a spot on the street fairly easily on a Saturday night around 530. When you first walk in to the right there are couches for waiting area if needed. They have signs right up the stairs with how they operate. See pics. The seating has two long high top bar seating towards the back and a few extra tables to sit. There are about 4 tables that seat 4 or 5 the other tables are two seater tables could be three After we found a table we put our coats down and went to the counter to order. Got the fried artichokes for an app and entree was the shellfish pasta. The bf got the bolognese pasta. All very good and flavorful. The shellfish one was a little watery though unless it was suppose to be. After we ate they have instruction where to put the dishes on the way out. Love the different upscale style. This is perfect. If you're staying at the local hotels, this is a very short walk. The food is great. Thalt's simple. Enter. Get a menu. Order at the register. They serve you at the table. Simple and affordable. But it's not fast food. Everybody's dish was excellent. I had bolognese and added half Caesar salad, but you could possibly share the half salad with someone. We're here with a big group and everybody was here for the first or second time and we're very happy with their food. They also have good wines. Good Italian wine. read more

Went to Sagra last night. It just opened this week and is owned by the owner of Tapas and is right near it on St. Paul. It looks elegant but the serving style is more casual. It's not full-service. You order and they bring your food when it's ready. They have a full bar and a smaller food menu with many great things on it. The menu doesn't feel overwhelming. Everything is made in house including the focaccia and pasta and it's the best food I've had in ROC in quite a while. Everything tastes so fresh. They have focaccia sandwiches, pizza, the best Caesar salad ever, and fresh made pasta dishes. But they have like 4 in each category so it's not overwhelming and I love it! Ambiance was awesome, ok parking if you can find street parking. A bit disorganized and long food wait but it was saturday nite. You order and they bring it to your table or bar, find a space first it's small. Salad was amazing delish, lasagna was sold out so didn't get to try, said meatball for the win for sure! Ended up with Focaccia pizza, was Ok, light fluffy but lacking toppings we paid extra for, and was so hugely we let it go but the cold mushrooms in a hot pizza made me sad, heated up the next day in air fryer and was good. I love this place. It's such a homey feel. Homemade bread homemade pasta full bar. You can hang out and watch the game. They want to try to build a local community in the downtown area. It's a curious concept that felt like cafeteria-style dining... First, they do not take reservations. You walk in, find a seat, find a menu, and then place your food order at the counter. Drinks you need to order separately at the bar. Water? You help yourself at a separate station. Your food is delivered to your table by a runner. With two entrances, it makes for interesting people watching as folks enter from both doors vying for the next available table. The menu is limited (pizza, pasta) but interesting. At the time, they were serving a very limited selection of wines but no wine list. When ordering at the bar and counter, I felt like I was always in the way as runners and staff tried to navigate around the us. We weren't asked to clear our own table, but with bus pans strategically located throughout, most patrons cleared their table before leaving. Our entrees were served hot and the portion size was commensurate with the price. The tagliatelle was al dante at best and unfortunately stuck together and clumpy. However, I definitely enjoyed the sauce! The vodka cream sauce was very good. I'll be curious to revisit them to see if they modify the concept to a more efficient and traditional style of dining with a host(ess) and servers. read more

This place is simply amazing. One prior reviewer said the food was excellent but given the counter ordering didn't feel the complete dining experience. DUH ! That's the whole point - it is not a sit down and be waited on place (although they serve you at your table when your order is up). It's even better ! You can get the most amazing homemade pasta dishes and so much more. The chicken cutlet sandwich made on homemade bread is the best I have ever tasted . Full bar with great service and wonderful drink selection. The waitstaff is attentive and cheerful. One of the best dining out experiences in Rochester. You can tell how good and authentic the food is by a clearly discerning clientele that regularly dines here. Sagra Italia is the closest to Italy I have seen ! It wasn't that I didn't like this restaurant, I just didn't love it. The Caesar salad was delicious, and the meatballs were fantastic. I ordered the homemade pasta with marinara. The sauce was good, but the pasta was sticking together. The chocolate chip espresso cookies were absolutely amazing. What threw me off was the self-service setup. Between the line at the bar and the line to order food, it felt a bit chaotic, and having to clean your own table cheapened the overall experience. The pacing was also off. We'd barely taken two bites of our salad when our entrees arrived. Would I go back? Probably. But for me, dining out is about the full experience, and this one was just okay.
