Southern fried unchicken

Stopped in today for the southern fried unchicken platter. Absolutely phenomenal today! Fried perfectly, Mac and cheese was amazing and the corn bread was so sweet and so delicious

Southern Fried Un-Chicken with Bake Mac No Moo and Honey I'm Home Cornbread

Discovered La Lus Cafe after seeing a recommendation in a local magazine (Thanks SJ Magazine!). So many good choices on the menu. We finally settled on the Southern Fried Un-Chicken with Bake Mac No Moo and Honey I'm Home Cornbread. The Un-chicken was breaded and deep fried mushrooms and was so good. Easy to forget it was not chicken. The No Moo Mac was so interesting with a flavor I never quite figured out, but found to be so tasty. I love cornbread and wow was this cornbread good. It was perfectly done with a very moist consistency. It fell apart when you picked it up due to the high density and moistness. Loved it! Really friendly staff. They are currently doing take out only but have the ability to have dine in. Really enjoyed the meal.

Cheezy La Lus Meatloaf with a side of Baked Mac No Moo, and Eggplanting My Roots! Everything was great!

Hah Holy Vegan! Incredible flavor in an unexpected neighborhood. I'm so happy for this business to open its doors in Beverly. The flavor and love that went into each of the meals I tried was fantastic. What I like the most is that it's not just 'vegan'.. it's actually delicious food that just so happens to be plant based. I tried the 'meatloaf' which had a hearty texture and wide range of flavors, from the charred outside to the chewy inside and sweet BBQ sauce. I've had allot of faux meat in my day but this took the prize. The cafe makes their own homemade, plant-based alternatives and it really shows they are in it for the cuisine and won't settle with just taking some pre-made packaged food and putting it on a plate (unfortunately like allot of other vegan spots I've been to). I'm already excited to go back and try the 'chicken parm' I had a side of the Mac which was tasty, but a little dry. It was a cold walk home though and unfortunately they had not started indoor dining yet. I'd still get it again. The eggplant fries were a big hit with my mother and brother as well. We munched on them all the way home before getting to the entree. $15 for a main and two sides is also a great deal as far as plant-based restaurants go. The indoors looked relaxing and inviting. Super cool murals on the entrance hall and inside really set the home-made vibe. There is a little stage and sound equipment too, which I was told will be for karoke and open-mics. So happy to hear that, the town could really use that kind of love and space for artistic expression. Just amazed to see this, super happy for the team and sending them the best of wishes for opening up a healthy alternative in a town that needs it, and during a pandemic to top it all off! What energy! Big ups to everyone involved and best of success moving forward. Will absolutely be back soon! *\(^_^)/*

A container full of trash
Truthful J.

So I literally came on here just to see how the food is advertised looking to compare it with the trash we got. We order the oyster fried mushrooms, vegan Mac n cheese and yams. What we got is old soggy tangy mushrooms looking like vegan chicken gizzards, bland macaroni and vegan cheese no type of seasoning with watery flavorless yams. Do not and I mean do not waste your time going here. Usually I'll give a place a second chance but when you willingly serve me slop you don't have to worry about me no more. If you look at the other pictures of the fried oyster mushrooms they are firm and Golden brown just like when I cook them myself. However what's on our plate is soggy, oily, limp and dark. They should be ashamed to even attempt to fry and serve them to somebody. A WHOLE DISGRACE!!!!!!!

Bullshit, this placed is closed and still on here. I have had such a hard time to find food I can eat ( as I am vegan). Very disappointing.

Everything had very good flavor. My least favorite was the eggplant only because of the consistency. Personal taste of course considering I'm a meat eater. Was looking for a little bit more crunch or firmness on the outside. It was more like a soft cake if that makes sense. The cauli pesto was delicious. Fresh and pesto was just right. The salad was plentiful with a very nice dressing. The olives added the saltiness needed. The vegan feta tasted like Feta! Impressed. The vegan whipped feta was #1! The caramelized dates paired so well with the feta. Overall I was impressed and have to say I would recommend if you are vegetarian, vegan or not! Can't beat fresh and local ingredients in my mind.

Super friendly staff, answered any questions I had about menu items or options. Also very caring and brought our coffee to us carefully not to spill. And the store itself is adorable, very cozy vibes and a great selection of plant based options for food for both take out and dine in. Loved the little market with quality sustainable goods. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

I order a few items and was disappointed by all of them unfortunately. * Raw-violi (pickled and brined beet slices, cashew macadamia nut cheese, pesto, and saffron cream, 1 star off): the beet slices were too salty; the cashew macadamia nut cheese did not taste like cheese, but more like ground up nuts; I did like their saffron cream sauce...not sure how it went with the beets and nuts, but it tasted good on its own * Mackin cheese (elbow pasta with sweet potato truffle cream cheese, 1 star off): I could taste the sweet potato, but there was no truffle flavor * Mash-n-gravy (crusted tempeh, truffle mashed potatoes, kale, carrots, and gravy, 1 star off): I have had good tempeh before, but the tempeh here was a salty, compacted soybean; again, there was no truffle flavor in the mashed potatoes; the entire dish was a goopy mess * Bananarama (banana cake, blueberry compote, and mango-vanilla sauce, 1 star off): the cake was dry and tasted like a day or two old; I did like the mango-vanilla sauce though It is sad that the condiments or sauces used for the dishes were the best part of the meal.
