I enjoyed this place, and on my last night in town, I took a ride with multiple street tacos from La Luz. Not disappointment, a lot of flavor in each item I got, and the staff here was kind and quick with my to go order. It came on time and luckily it was in the late evening so not too many around to hold up a line. Maybe next time I'm in town I'll try more than the tacos. read more

Something has changed and not for the better. We've been coming to La Luz for years. It's been our little place. The last 3 times my wife and I have noticed a change in the food. Lack of flavor. Not a fan. They advertise "fresh" and yes the overwhelming helping of rice was fresh but the chicken was sparse and lacked any real flavor. There was no heat in their hottest of salsas. Not even close to authentic - very Americanized south of the border food. Service was good and I like having a salsa bar. This kept it from a 1 star review. $18 for a smothered rice burrito and a glass of water is just over the top for me. read more

My wife and I both had Atomic Burritos, which were good. Not sure why it's called "Atomic", 'cuz there was no discernable heat, but they really came alive with the addition of salsa. 6 salsas are available in-restaurant and we tried all of them. Some had quite interesting flavors. It was a fun flavor adventure. Government actions have raised the cost of both the ingredients and the labor to make burritos, so I have no problem with the restaurant raising prices accordingly. What I do take issue with is having one price on the menu you select from (near the door), another price on the online menu (higher), and a third price that is actually what you pay (highest). Uncool. I also take issue with the tip-before-service expectation at this and many other restaurants. At this one, you're getting your own drinks and bussing your own trash, just like at McDonald's, so it's not clear to me why a tip is expected. read more

I've been eating at La Luz for many years. I discovered their delicious fish tacos when the restaurant was located in Old Town Fort Collins. It's my favorite fish taco of many others I've tried. I like the new location on Boardwalk in mid-town. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. What makes La Luz fish tacos so great is that the fish is grilled, not deep fried, and the toppings are fresh. I usually get the tacos made with their corn tortillas, which are very good. Then there is their salsa bar. A whole bunch of flavorful choices, from mild to hot. I mix them. The staff are very friendly. When I am not quite sure what I want, they suggest things that are great. They even made some horchata to drink when I was last there. They have a good selection of craft beers, too. I like to bring guests to La Luz because it is an open space, very clean, and nice looking, not cramped the way some restaurants are. I know Peter was the biggest jerk you've ever met but when he owned this place it was infinitely better. I'm so done going here, and I used to love the food. Of course the only remaining location sucks, but from time to time I still crave the fish tacos or an atomic burrito. I went in to get both of them yesterday, and it set me back more than $30. The fish stunk and the remainder of the taco was just filled with all cabbage. Disgusting and a rip off. The burrito had very little meat in it. To think I paid $15 for it when I could get one with twice the protein at any number of places within a mile. Just the way that they run the store is littered with with poor decision-making. They have these black plastic bags for to go. It's just so un appetizing. And it always stinks here. It smells like sour milk. It's a shame. read more

Solid! Got the del mar burrito which is made with grilled fish and grilled shrimp - very tasty and the burrito was quite big. The chips and salsa were really tasty - was told the chips were made there. I got the mildest salsa and a couple of the spicier ones - the mildest is tasty, not very chunky and the creamy green salsa had a nice flavor and texture but it was a bit too spicy for me and the 3rd one I tried looked like it had lots of spices in it and was tasty while not being too spicy. I also got a margarita to-go which I really liked. Comparing this place to Illegal Pete's in Fort Collins which I also tried out a few days ago - I preferred everything more here. read more

What a wonderful find...just loved coming here on Mother's Day. The owner served us and what a beautiful soul. Wonderful personality, caring, and serves fresh ingredients in everything in the menu. Very mediocre Mexican food for more than chipotle/qdoba prices so I'd go for those instead. I've been slightly corrupted from having good Mexican food it Mexico and always hope to find places with the same style and feeling here but this is definitely more like a chipotle where you order at the front and they make it for you. I got a burrito bowl for $10 and it was pretty small. The flavors were fine but nothing special really. One cool thing was the salsa bar which had a variety of salsas but all of them didn't really have much taste... My mom ordered fish tacos and one bite in we both tried and spit it out... the bitter fish bile flavor was so strong. We asked for a replacement and they gave us a shrimp taco instead. Probably one of the worse tacos I've had sadly - lots of thickly sliced cabbage which just gives it a raw taste and some shrimp on the bottom of it. The flavors and sauces didn't tie any of it together. Saw someone get shrimp enchiladas and that actually looked better with the whole plate of rice and beans but I probably wouldn't come back again. read more

Ermie, Herman and the staff at La Luz never disappoint. Some of the best "fast" Mexican food if you don't have time for a traditional Mexican spot....but you want better than Matador, Chipolte, Qdoba, etc.. The Salsa is made fresh, and they sell it to-go. I am literally addicted to their medium salsa. We cook with it a lot and I use it in Mexican omlettes, in ground beef tacos, and home made carnitas. This place is tucked away in a random strip mall. But so worth seeking out! We have eaten here lots and loved everything we've tried. It's inexpensive, fast and totally authentic. I like getting the carnitas nachos with a side of green chili. The carnitas melt in your mouth! My husband loves the burritos. Salsa bar is the perfect accompaniment. They have a limited drink menu. I love this place. I have celiac disease, and they're really careful and mindful of gluten. I've been here a couple of times, and it's always pretty empty which is a shame because the food is really good and very reasonably priced. So sad. We've been coming to the Old Town location off and on for years--every time we're in Ft Collins. This year, since that location closed, we came to the Boardwalk location. Got 3 Mahi Mahi tacos and the queso with chips. The "home made" queso consisted of sautéd onion and chilies and a huge hunk of melted cheese. It was impossible as a dip. We needed spoons, so we could pile the melted cheese on chips. It wasn't appetizing at all. The tacos were nicely sized, but more cabbage than anything else. The Mahi was smothered in a sweet and spicy red sauce. Not what I expected. Salsa bar is still great, but other than that, we have no reason to return again. read more

Had a combo with fish taco & spinach burrito, ride & beans. Rice & beans were best forgotten (white rice, boiled beans). Spinach burrito was just ok. I really like La Luz! It helps that kids eat free on Sunday. The Boardwalk location has a slightly different menu, and you order at the counter instead of having a server come to your table, but the parking is easy peasy. Just tried the weekend breakfast (served until 1 pm) and the migas were delicious! Hubby had the chorizo fajita omelette with potatoes and said "they have a really good breakfast." My go to lunch is the veggie tacos, the nachos or the pesto chicken burrito. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

The food was horrible. The website took my online order and money, but when I arrived to pick it up, the cashier didn't even know they had an online system.
