I was recommended the avocado tacos here, and they're delicious and well spiced, and the avocado is fried well. The price is fair and the tacos felt authentic, and I love a good vegetarian taco. I was deeply disappointed by the elote ribs, though. Instead of being left on the cob, the corn was sliced into skewers that I found unappealingly flaccid and rather wet. The spicing and dressing of the corn was oddly sweet, and just made a rather disappointing experience. I think they could pull off the dressing as "their take" on elote if they left it on the cob, but I really, really hated the "rib" style. As it is now, I would not recommend it if you know what elote is supposed to be. The restaurant itself had a nice hip, young, alternative vibe and the servers were friendly. read more

Tried Vatos Tacos yesterday and ordered about 12 tacos...honestly, they were just okay, nothing that would make me come back for tacos again. I also ordered two margaritas (one pineapple, one regular). When I got them, there was no salt on the rim. I asked the bartender about it, and he told me that I should have "ordered it with salt" and that it was an upcharge. I've been to plenty of places and never once have I had to "add on" salt to a margarita, it's just a standard part of the drink. Paying extra for salt on the rim doesn't make sense and really left a bad impression. Between that and the underwhelming tacos, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Oh my, wonderfully cute ambience and atmosphere. However, I am getting lost. That was just what stood out but the food excellent large portions and everything was very tasty but what really got me was the service!!! during the time that I was in line I had looked at their mocktail menu as I don't drink, and I had decided that it was a little too pricey from my taste and that was fine. I was there for my friend. It was her birthday and we were having a nice experience. Well, I had ordered a water with some lime. Then after I tasted the water, I had some questions however the staff went above and beyond to take care of me and to be kind!! I left feeling like they were the type of crew and perhaps owner, the owner may have been there that day? The hubs and I got a quick two each small street tacos. I went vegetarian with two fried avocado and the hubs got one pollo and one carne asada. They are the perfect street tacos size and really tasty. We got them "to go" to eat in the exchange courtyard which was a nice setting to eat them in. Service was friendly and fast! read more

Never been to Vatos but feel like I should have. I was born on Cinco de mayo so I feel like it's in me to eat here. I ordered three tacos, Baja fish, pork belly and Al Pastor. Al Pastor had great flavor and nice amount of meat so much that I had to finish it with a fork. The Baja also had a large piece of fish and great flavor. The pork belly was a little dry to me. More like thick bacon vs the juice cube you usually get with pork belly. Either way it was a good experience unfortunately I didn't get to try the tequila this time. read more

When I visited Fort Collins, I asked a few locals where to eat and many of them recommended Vatos. I was excited to try it out and was even more excited when I saw that it was located in a food hall type location. I'll be honest, my review may be a bit biased because I had a burrito and it seemed like they are known for their tacos. Even so, I thought the burrito would at least be decent but it severely lacked meat and it honestly reminded me of a burrito you can buy at a supermarket and microwave. Limited seating inside. You'll have to sit in the old town area. The highlight for me was the Mezcalita. It's a cocktail with a tajin rim. It was very flavorful. The tacos were good but high price. Vatos Tacos is nestled in The Exchange in Fort Collins, which is a real cool food court type of area but also if you wanna enjoy wine/beer/cocktails you can do that as well! My partner and I stopped in for a quick bite and were for the most part pleased with Vatos. Pork belly tacos were to die for, carnitas was good too..really enjoyed the salsa that came with the chips. Tacos are super small just a heads up. Would go back to try the nachos or a burrito. Thinking of making a weekend outta our next trip, so definitely wanna stop by in the am for a breakfast burrito then! read more

Fantastic nachos! Full of flavor with the perfect amount of spicy, crispy and not at all soggy. The prices are great for anything you order, and they have daily deals so be sure to check those out. The inside is a bit small, but there's a lot of outdoor seating at The Exchange so that's not really a problem. Staff were patient while we made our decisions and friendly while taking our order. Will definitely be back for more nachos and to try some tacos! read more

This is located in old town in the exchange in Fort Collins. It is a smaller building with no indoor seating. There is outdoor seating. When i arrived around 630 pm on a weds night it was very busy with a long line out the door. It took awhile to get up to the front of the line to order and staff kept needing to get into cupboards that were near where the line was so kept having to move from side to side for them. The menu is clearly labeled on gluten free items. There were limited vegetarian/vegan items but there were a few. I ended up ordering something modified off the menu - a vegetarian burrito in a bowl with no cheese. They give you a device that will buzz when your food is ready and then you can come in a grab it. The portion size was okay. It looked good but it was extremely spicy. Phew. I wish i had known beforehand. Did not particularly enjoy it as i tend to like blander foods, but i ate it. Due to limited choices of what was avaialble to order i dont think i would probably come back here in the future but it was fun to try some place new. My friends who i was with who are not gluten free/vegan both got some sort of tacos and greatly enjoyed them. read more

My experience at Vatos tacos was not a good experience. I had ordered two tacos. One fish and one coconut shrimp.. the coconut shrimp taco only had one shrimp in it, and the rest was the breading from the shrimp when I took it to the cook and said, can you add another shrimp or two as there's only one shrimp in my taco,his response to me was... it is what it is. He only works there.. I demanded then that he gave me an extra shrimp which after eight minutes of talking to him he finally did. Three years later and the pork belly is still a 10/10 taco. Another winner is the coconut shrimp. Great crisp on the shrimp, flavors melt together wonderfully! This spot truly doesn't disappoint. The red salsa with chips is the cherry on top. read more

We've committed to supporting local every Sunday by going out and getting takeout for ourselves and our friends. Yesterday was Vatos Tacos and Tequila - we were determined to get some margaritas to go! I ordered the chorizo mango taco and the mango fish taco. Spicy chorizo on top of sliced and roasted poblano peppers, topped with crisp cabbage, spicy red onion and a generous amount of diced mango to slow the burn. The mango fish was still crispy, even after we drove home with it steaming in the plastic containers they gave us, and was drizzled with a sweet crema and even more fresh mango. The portions are generous and I wasn't even able to finish both of my tacos, which made my boyfriend very pleased since he was on the receiving end of my leftovers. As far as the margarita, we ordered a quart of the Vatos margarita (blue agave tequila and fresh lime - simple and delicious) and split it amongst three of us. They didn't add ice at the restaurant, thank goodness, so we felt like even though it was a pricey choice ($40 for a quart!) we were getting the most bang for our buck. Definitely a splurge and, while delicious, we likely will stick with getting our margs from the liquor store curbside delivery from now on. Stopped in for some tacos and margaritas as we've been wanting to try here for awhile. They have a good amount of gluten free options but my wife was disappointed she couldn't do the nachos since the chips are fried with gluten containing products. I tried the nachos and they were super tasty but for $10.25 they were a small snack. Quite disappointing how small the nachos were. The tacos were standard street taco size and full of flavor. The margaritas were decent. I just can't give 5 stars with those tiny nachos for over $10. I'd surely eat these tacos again but get nachos elsewhere. read more

Bomb. Came here before a concert at nearby Washington's. They have a burrito on the menu too. It's called Vatos Tacos and Tequila so that's what we ordered. I settled on the Vato margarita and my companion grabbed a draft beer. Taco wise I went for a vegetarian and a fried avocado. Big fan of the Fried Avocado taco at Torchy's but this was better. Can be hard to get vegetarian food that isn't all lettuce or vegetables no one likes. NOT the case here at all. Also grabbed a large chips and salsa. Spicy but very flavorful. Just enough to enjoy with our tacos and munch on while we had our drinks. We sat inside at the one main table. Some side room to stand if you want but most people take food to walk around The Exchange when the weather is nice or they are feeling adventurous in the snow. RUN don't walk to Vatos Tacos, cause everything there was amazing! I ordered one of each of the carnitas, carne asada and pork belly tacos with a frozen margarita. The tacos were everything, fresh, tasty and each one had a blast of its own flavor. Only qualm, was that their size was a little on the small side. Their frozen margarita was also strong which is great for those who only want to enjoy one drink. First time visitor and I am ready to go back! The building itself is small but they make it easy to place your order as soon as you walk in. If you order an alcoholic drink, they will hand it to you before you leave to be seated. I did not realize this and forgot about my drink, but they did give it to me later on. Once your order is complete and you have paid, you can choose to sit on their rooftop, and there is also a patio area outside. They give you a buzzard to let you know when the food is ready so you can pick it up. We ordered chips and queso and added chorizo. Chicken tacos, Asian taco, chorizo and mango taco and had churros for dessert. All delicious and for a great price! I even had a margarita and felt I got my monies worth! They give you two churros per order and they are cream filled served with chocolate. Best churros I have had in a long time. Service was welcoming and helpful with recommendations. Came for a breakfast burrito. Among many other protein options they have chorizo ($4), so of course that's what I had to get. Did not need any additional sauces. It had just enough heat from the green chili sauce already inside. This is a great gathering place within the new Exchange plaza on the north side of Old Town, near Laporte and College. You wouldn't know that the space is constructed of metal containers. We came on a cold 17 degree day. There is a large heated stone fireplace outside in the courtyard which is really nice and toasty. However they have a great indoor space that is heated really well. There is a nice space for large groups. read more

This review is for their family meal in which $26 gets you a build your own taco station for the night. It's covid so I ordered takeout and the food was slammin good. The beef for the tacos were seasoned and not overcooked , the Queso and chips were delicious and the salsas were very fresh and tasty. Smallest tacos I've seen for the price. 3-$4.00 depending. You can literally and easily eat them in one bite. I got a burrito and one taco. The taco was decent and the burrito was just a larger version of something you'd order from Taco Bell. With a drink, it was $18 ($2 tip). Pretty outrageous. About a mile north on college next to Carnicieria Las Delicias is a taco stand. It's half the price and twice as good. read more

I'm extremely disappointed. I ordered four street tacos and for some reason they are just placed in a tray. Not wrapped individually so now they're all mixed up. I would think you'd wrap them in foil. I also ordered a large chips and salsa to go. There's 32 chips in a large. I don't find much value in that. The salsa is soooo good. Delicious lunch! Located in a strip of cool looking restaurants. I ordered three street tacos: carnitas, coconut shrimp and pork belly. All three were delicious. They were loaded with meat and toppings. They are on the smaller side so plan accordingly to your hunger level. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito, it looked huge! He said it was delicious but wished there was more meat. There is a cute courtyard to eat area adjacent to other businesses. Frozen margaritas are strong!!
