Don't go here! Dirty place with food and dust and everything out. Always feels rushed and they don't know how to do nails. They took forever to take off my gel and then switched ladies. They didn't even take off all the gel I had to keep asking. Uneven application of color and missed spots. My nails are also all different shapes and sizes. Not enough cuticle work and just didn't do a good job filing. They just put a bunch of lotion on me after and didn't even look at the nails I had to ask for a nail file to sharpen up and take off the excess gel on my nails. read more

I feel sorta bad for posting about this because the people were very nice. But I called in advance asking for a regular manicure, which they said would cost $5. I was excited because it would be cheap and something nice to do. I get there and ask for a blue color with a little flame design for just 2 nails but I got what was shown in the picture. The lady urged me to get gel nails and/or a pedicure ($23) but I declined. I did get my eyebrows done with chocolate wax for $8 which was alright. As my nails are drying, the lady hands me a bill of $26 which did not add up from the $5 nails and $8 eyebrows. Apparently, she ended up charging me $12 for the nails + $5 for the design + $8 for the eyebrows + $1 charge for using card. I asked her how the price when from $5 to $12 (I guess I can understand $5 more for the design but it was also bad!!) and she brought it down to $10. I ended up paying $23 for a bad manicure and mediocre wax. read more

I went here with my friend for the first time after reading the reviews. And I wasn't disappointed. The walk up was a little unnerving, grey apartment carpet will do that to you in a walk up but when you get inside it's actually pretty nice. I will say sanitation wise I don't care for uncovered pedicure basins, I watched them wash it out between customers but I'm a bit skeptical still. The price is crazy low for the quality of nail you get and the quality of options color wise. I mean literally think of a color and they have it probably in a few options too. The customer service was great so was the complimentary wine! I cannot speak highly enough about this salon! I came for the prices and Yelp reviews and I will be returning for the wonderful customer service. Upon picking a color for my gel manicure, I was seated at the large bar, where everyone gets their nails done, and offered a glass of wine. As fabulous as that made me feel, I got a glass of water instead, and it was still served in a wine glass with lemon. Everything tastes better in a wine glass! I believe that Linda did my nails, and she did a gorgeous job making my short nails look glamorous. She took maybe twenty minutes, which was great. I didn't get the name of who waxed my eyebrows, but she did a stellar job. Like she didn't leave any stray hairs and cleaned up my eyebrows perfectly! I've never seen my brows look so good! So they sit us down in the Luke warm/cold water for our pedi, she starts the process and I ask her to turn on the water to get it warmer, she ignores me, so fine I sit and bear it because I only came for the hot stones and the much needed foot massage anyway to relax, well that NEVER happened. The lady picked into my toes until one of them bled the hot stones weren't hot and there was no massage whatsoever just a heavy amount of "sunscreen lotion" applied to my legs not even my feet and then wiped off with a lukewarm towel. There was no callus removal, no HOT hot stones, and an even worse gel manicure same thing just really a clip, file, buff and application of polish on the manicure there was no relaxation in sight. Not even to mentioned they lied to my gf giving her the regular acrylic and tried to say it was dip like she did something special but really just gave her the pink acrylic to make it look like the dip & she tried to thin it to look more natural which the dip is supposed to do but WHATEVER I could go on and on for days but I Spent $120 in there even though we asked for the specials and they weren't given then specifically asked her to make sure my toes were dry and she said yes put my shoes on for me and ushered us out of the door since they were trying to close. I do feel really bad about this rating, but a chip in a (very surprisingly) expensive manicure after less than a week did me in. Everyone here is *so* nice. They made me and my friend feel really pampered and looked after! But... it is still a service, and we did pay for it. The quality just doesn't line up with what I paid, unfortunately. My friend called and made reservations for their $30 mani/pedi with hot stone massage special. When we arrived, we told them that's what we were there for. When they offered us gel, we accepted, thinking it'd be a slight upcharge. When we got our bills, we both paid double what we thought it was going to be. I get it - gel is more expensive; we've both had it done before. We just wish we'd been told about it beforehand. During the pedicure, the pedicurist was great at everything... except the cuticle part. The scissors were pushed in so hard it was painful, and I didn't notice she'd cut two toes until the nails were cleaned with acetone. Cue more pain. After the prep was done on my toes, my pedicurist and another lady switched - presumably so she could apply the gel. I was talking to my friend, so I didn't notice until the last one that she was pushing the cuticles back on my fingers with her own ungloved fingernails. I just thought she was really pushing the cuticle stick for all it was worth. The gel application was odd - she rushed through it and didn't give the nails much time to cure. I suspect this is part of why they chipped in less than a week. They started to appear dull/rubbed after only two days, which was annoying, but I was willing to overlook it until they just started chipping. Oh, and there wasn't a hot stone to be found anywhere. Not a single one. I will say that we were told the gel was guaranteed for two weeks, and they'd fix chips/issues during this time. That's nice. But given the fairly rough and gross cuticle treatment (which can lead to infections...) I don't really want to go back to get my nails fixed. The cheap specials might be worth it if you're okay with all of that, but I probably won't be back. I'd save your money and go to a different place in Rittenhouse - I know I'll never stray from my usual place again. read more

Disappointed from start to finish. Three different people worked on my full set. It seemed like only one technician could do acrylic and she really rushed through it. Acrylic came out very thick and lumpy. All of my nails are different lengths and shapes. The whole process took 2 hours on a monday night around 6-8pm. at 8, while my nails are drying, the owner grabbed my jacket and put it on me to send me on my way with wet nails (which of course got messed up). She also wrote my receipt and then charged me an extra ten dollars at the register. also, a $5 surcharge for using card instead of cash. Will not be going back, would not recommend. read more

I've visited this salon 2 times and liked my first experience which was a pedicure. However, after my second visit, I left disappointed and will not be returning to the Nail Spa Bar. Reason 1. I wanted a fill to my acrylic overlay. My nail tech must not have been experienced because when filling down my old acrylic, the tech next to her was telling her not to do something and the only word I could understand was FUNGUS! I asked the experienced tech if there was something wrong with my nails and she explained that she shouldn't be putting nail glue at the seam of my old acrylic before applying the refill. Reason 2. An older woman applied my refill powder for my inexperienced nail tech. I should have know this wasn't going to end well! Reason 3. I asked for a touch up on coffin shape since my nails were already in that style from my last fill. She made them completely uneven and some of my nails turned out more round that tapered. I asked her a few times to even them out. She couldn't tell that they were asymmetric and one corner of my nail was drastically higher than the other. Reason 4. I had a good first experience here. 3.5 stars. After walking into 3 different nail salons nearby, and all 3 quoted me $40-$45 for a mani-pedi, nail spa bar said $30! Pleased and surprised I accepted and sat at the massage chair for my pedi. The lady was very hard to understand she didn't speak much English, but she did a damn good job on my toes! However she was so rough with the dead skin brush on my legs she cut a scab on my ankle. Ouch! But my toes looked great. Then to the mani, she also did a great job, but some fingers were a little messy, some were picture perfect. I got a French on both toes & fingers. (Extra $10, so my total was $40, which is still a great deal I think!) the nail dryer was old and breaking, took a while to dry my nails. Being observant, I was watching a few other employees who could speak much better English. However they were slightly sloppy too.. One girl next to me asked for her big toe to be re-done because there were bubbles in the polish. And the other girl needed a toe re-done because her worker leaned over her wet toe polish and the string on her apron drug over top the polish and smudged it. Overall great prices. With a girlfriend getting married and another friend wanting to go out for a day of pampering leading up to the days wedding events it only made sense to look into nail salon options that could take both of us at a reasonable time and with a reasonable price tag. Enter Nail Spa Bar. What Nail Spa Bar offers is a mani/pedi with hot stone massage in big massage chairs plus a glass of vino all for the minimal cost of $30. They have an incredible selection of colors to choose from with brands including Essie, OPI, and Vinylux. Vinylux?! As soon as I saw it I snatched a nice neutral for my fingers and brought it over to the nail tech to glaze my nails with a splash of color. If you're not familiar with Vinylux, let me fill you in...vinylux is a unique formula that does not use a base coat and instead strengthens by way of UV rays using a special topcoat. The result is a manicure that is guaranteed to be chip free for 7 days. I love Vinylux, I've had it a few times over and have loved the results. I should have known that the tech didn't know what she was doing as soon as she laid down a base coat on my nails, but I'm not one to tell someone how to do their job. The rest of my manicure was same old same old and though I didn't notice, I'm fairly certain that the special vinylux top coat was not used to seal the manicure. How can I confirm my suspicions? Well, here I am the day after my manicure and my nails are already chipping. No Bueno. Why carry a specialized product when your employees don't know how to apply it? (Insert sad face). The rest of the experience was meh, nothing spectacular as far as I'm concerned; the more I look at it the more I realize that the manicure was kind of sloppy, has already lost its shine, and causes me to think "I guess you get what you pay for"...cheap price tag, mediocre servicing. Will I go back again? It's been three days and I can already see that the acrylic is lifting, one of my thumb nail broke, and acrylic from my left middle finger chipped off at the tip, exposing the tip. This is the first time I broke a nail or my nail chipped doing regular activities. Especially with the fact that I work in retail so my nails go through a lot but even with that, I've never broken a nail. I do not recommend this salon if you want to get acrylics done. I knew with the method they do the acrylics that it was not going to be quality work, but I always try things once, so now I know for a fact, this is not worth $30-$35. ***Also on their nail bar, there's a sign that says that they will not give refunds for acrylics. I've never seen that at a salon ever, and the fact they have that up isn't a good sign as for their work or service.*** Idk why I keep doing this to myself. I recommend Luxxe Nails in Brewerytown for gels and acrylics, they do QUALITY work and they last FOREVER until you need to get your nails done again. I debated writing this review because I thought it was just me and perhaps my clumsiness. But honestly, I got a manicure/pedicure this morning and my whole manicure is chipped off after a day of just walking around. It's the worst manicure I've ever gotten and I should have stood up for myself more but I was just kind of shoved around the nail salon. Three different people worked on me and at one point, someone forgot to do my top coat, just left me sitting there wondering what to do. I've also never felt so pushed out of a place, a whole mani/pedi in 30 minutes or less. As I walked out, I thought 'Hey, at least it looks okay for 30 bucks' but then by 5:00 PM my nails look like a chipped wreck. I do have to say my pedicure was well done, the technician was attentive and asked me questions - the only highlight of the experience. But it will not make up for my chipped nail polish, broken nails and incorrectly cut cuticles. I wish I didn't have to write this but its actually not fair to other customers. read more

This place is decent but it really depends on what you're going there for. We went there for a somewhat bridal event -both my friend and I are getting married and our two other girlfriends were taking us there to get a mani/pedi. The impression I got from going there was that it's a bit like a factory. There's no soothing background music, just the hustle and bustle of ladies that seem a bit stressed and frenzied. We were sort of half-greeted. A lady who appeared to be in charge did offer us water or wine but none of those ever came so more than 30 mins later, I decided to pipe up and ask for some water again. They had a wide selection of colors, as expected. Their prices are very good (it was $30 for mani/pedi [extra if you got gel]) and that included a complimentary hot stone massage for your legs. The latter was a bit unremarkable, about 30 seconds of rubbing heated stones on your legs. It felt nice, just short-lived. My fingernail color only lasted a few days but my toenail color lasted a few weeks, I'm thinking related to me using my hands a lot. Make a note that they are also cash only. Overall, I had a good experience here because of the girls with me but it doesn't have the most relaxing environment, therefore I think an alternative place might be more suitable for a bridal event or an event intended to create relaxation. And I have never found a salon I've liked more around here. They have every OPI and Essie color in existence and they're able to match your gel mani with regular polish pedi no problem. They give you red or white wine, tea, water, etc. The girls there are extremely friendly and treat regulars like family. If you're looking for a new nail place, look no further. And ask for Mon. You won't be disappointed! I deducted one star because you will wait during peak hours. Sometimes they underestimate your wait time. But they truly do do the best they can. I have gotten my nails done here for the past year. I wish I knew earlier but I found out too late and now I'm really bummed about leaving Philly and not having this amazing place for my nails. The highlights are definitely the very nice people, complementary wine/coffee/water, and massage. This place just does a good job of catering to the people and making sure they are satisfied with the work done on their nails. For a manicure/pedicure/eyebrow I can't remember exactly but I think I spent honestly less than $40/$50 so that is an awesome steal. It's slightly more for gel on the hands but regardless, they are so good! The people are shy to talk but they know if you keep coming they become more talkative then. Linda does eyebrow waxing which she pays attention to and is very meticulous when doing so. I love her. I have gotten nails done from almost everyone here and they all do an excellent job. They also fix it if something happens the next few days for free of charge. Tips: Very busy during weekends and then after 5pm on weekdays since that is when most girls come to get nails done. Best time is to come at 10 am because you are the only person there and you have much undivided attention. Great experience today! But, Groupon buyers beware! I bought a Groupon for "Nail Spa Bar" but the location on 4th street. Groupon wrongly has the phone number of this location on the website which was what I called and ended up here. Half way through my gel manicure I mentioned that I had a Groupon and the technician educated me that it was not for this location but they are aware of the wrong phone number on their site. The lady was very apologetic (although it wasn't her fault!) and ended up giving me a great discount! This place as garbage walked in and instantly regretted making an appointment there. There were two other ladies that were sitting on the couch waiting to get called when my cousin and I walked in. Finally got called and instead of finishing one person they would skip around so EVERYONE had to sit there for hours. The lady next to me had to go out to feed the meter not once but TWICE. I got the SNS dip polish so I didn't have to put my hands into the blue light but this place didn't have the correct topcoat so they insisted on putting the gel top coat on my SNS dip. They didn't dip my hands in the powder enough and 4 days later my nails cracked. I am very upset that I waited around 2 hours to get my freaking nails done so I suggest if you want to dave yourself from all that frustration to find another nail salon in the area. read more

The decor is a little overwhelming and cluttered but the space is pretty large and therefore they are good at accommodating walk ins. The reviews are true, you can get wine here! I have gotten water with lemon and tea. I had a gel manicure that lasted over 2 weeks. And fun fact, if you go back there is no charge to remove the gel! Today I walked in and had gel removal and a manicure with a cute heart design for Valentines day. The positives about this place include the friendly technicians who are really patient when you are picking a color. I usually change my mind like three times (I recognize how annoying I am) and they don't mind at all and often help me search for colors. The reason I can be so indecisive here is because they have a massive color collection with multiple brands, including Essie and OPI. I have never seen so many different color gels! My manicure this time could be a little neater which is why I took off a star. At the end of your service if they are not too busy, they offer you to sit in the massage pedicure chairs while you dry! They do not give shoulder massages while you are drying. The prices here are among the best in the city for good service and if you pay with cash you pay $2 less.
