Luckily, i was able to snag the last box of Thin Mints and a box of Trefoils, so I am not complaining. Since I was already at the location, I thought why not try the restaurant. I did not know what to expect and honestly I did not factor in that it was a buffet. Coming from Miami originally (though currently living in Saint Albans), I was lucky (no pun intended ^_^) to have had some really great buffets to experience in Miami, FL (ie. Kyojin in South Miami, Canton in Coral Gables, POC in Coral Gables) but I was craving Chinese food as I had not had any in so long. Lucky Buffet did not disappoint. They had sit down dining service as well as to go service. I am not sure if they deliver. If they did that would be amazing! But it was pretty busy which is always a good sign for a restaurant because it means they are doing good business and there is a demand for it. I ended up eating with my eyes and then my stomach because i filled 2 to go containers with a variety/assortment of foods like General Tso's chicken (my favorite), chicken & broccoli, crunchy and flavorful snap peas, crispy wonton noodles, very breaded/fluffy battered chicken tenders, and some vegetable fried rice that i doused in the General Tsao's sauce). I also got some of these Buttered scalloped potatoes which O-M-G were so darn good. They also had sliced onion mixed into the batch and no complaints there. It came out to a total of $38. There was a sign that said it was like $7.95 for pound of food and I figured I would splurge since I am not sure when I would be back there. I walk everywhere and in the cold, frigid temps, it's a bit cumbersome (and dangerous) to walk with food like that over icy sidewalks and slushy-muddy snow. I can't speak to what dining in would be like, but it seemed pretty decent. There was a steady flow of customers coming in and out which is always good to see. I also liked how they had fortune cookies sitting on display in the middle of the place for guests to take. I took about six lol I can't resist a good old fashioned fortune cookie:) If I ever happen to be walking by again, I would consider it again, but it is a lot of food. So you have to go on an empty stomach and also try not to over indulge or else you will have tummy issues. Chinese food is notorious for having MSG, but I am not sure if they use that there. I will say that they had a pretty decent dessert bar and ice cream selection. The people of Saint Albans are "lucky" to have this restaurant in their midsts. Also parking is pretty ample for those that have vehicles and the restaurant itself seemed pretty clean and well organized. If buffet items got low, they immediately would replenish them. The food was hot and ready to go. A plus was the little keychains being sold at the front at the counter. I had to get a Stitch one because I love the Stitch character. He's so cute ^_^ They also had a Spiderman one and Hello Kitty one so any fans of those characters would be pleasantly surprises and amused to see them being sold there once you check out and pay. The service was really quick and friendly, there are many spelling mistakes in the menu (brocori tepmura anyone?) and sometimes things arrive at your table without you actually ordering it but really, aren't all these places kind of like this? Everything my friend and I ordered was really good and I wish I had more space to try more of their maki rolls. This is the first sushi restaurant I've been to that puts cheese on their sushi and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's a bring your own wine place (good to know for next time :)) and I would also like to try their desserts (also next time). I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu, it's exciting to have an AYCE sushi place closer to me than Montreal so I will take advantage of it :)

Messy food tray plays, no one is cleaning it or monitoring it from time to time. Som customers are just messy. Place atmosphere is cool and wide chair and table to dine. I said I wasn't going to do it on this last visit, but I broke down. I'm talking about going to…read morethe buffet at Saveurs des Continents, the apparent new name for Buffet des Continents. The newer name means "flavors of the continents" when translated into English and that probably has a better ring to it than the previous name. The dishes here go all the way from 2 to 5 stars, so that averages out to 3.5 stars, which isn't so bad considering how much choice they offer. Mostly I take from the Canadian-North American, Italian, Greek, and Middle Eastern food. They also have a staffed grill where they can cut you a nice little slab of meat. They have a section with Asian food and I also noticed a sushi area, the latter of which is beyond my line of demarcation. This is why, as I've said on the previous review, you will be breaking bread with people from 5 continents. (Should there be a token Australian in attendance, that would take it up to 6 continents.) The service at Saveurs des Continents is fine. Be sure to engage the server in such a way that they don't forget you and won't clean off your table while you are going up to the buffet line to get another plate of food. (I've had that happen up at St. Jerome once, and the place was far from full.) In this case, the server and I spoke Spanish and he didn't mind at all because, after all, this is Montreal and it subscribes to the concept of a "cultural mosaic." Bring it on. There is also a person who will come around to take a drink order, but I go with the included coffee or tea. With all that said, the pricing scheme is fair. It is slightly different depending on the time of the day and day of the week. The pricing includes a gratuity to the tune of about 12.5%, if I recall correctly, that they distribute to the employees. You are free to give your server a little bit more if you choose to. So, in revisiting Saveurs des Continents, I'm going to go with 4 stars. They offer a lot of food choices across a broad spectrum, fair pricing, decent service, and a unique brand of quirkiness and diversity that you don't easily forget. Also, with REM joining the Metro system and Exo commuter trains, this newer light rail system can take you from the city to the south shore. Your stop will be the Panama station and, from there, there is a pedestrian underpass and path that goes to the shopping center with this buffet. One thing is that it will be easier to get back home with the light rail and not think of having to adjust your tilt steering wheel upward. Finally, if this American manages to come in here once on each visit to Montreal area, then this Saveurs des Continents is more realistically a 4 star sort of place.
