Honestly, probably the best food I've had in a long while. I was craving warm, spiced, Mediterranean food but sadly it was still breakfast time. La Mama was open so I made the trek out. Glad that I did cause it hit the spot. It took a while for the order but I didn't mind. The location is clean, spacious and the person I assume to be the owner was pleasant. He said the only thing he didn't have available yet was the roasted lamb or goat shank and shoulder cause it look awhile to get tender. We had the lamb and chicken kebabs and they were delectable. The lamb, wonderfully seasoned and tender. The chicken was a bit ok the drier side since it was breast but still good. The rice was my favorite part because, hello, rice girl here. I enjoyed it all, down to the salad and seasoned fruits. One thing I will add is that I saw the other review of the person who said the owner turned away a homeless person. I too would have thought and felt the same way as that person. However, while I was there, the homeless man who was hanging out in the vestibule of the Wells Fargo parking lot connected to the same building, assaulted another person, leaving them bloodied and injured. So, I can understand why the owner had asked the previous person to leave. He was the sole person in the shop when we were there and he not only has to keep his safety in mind but probably ours as well.

We all (8 of us) really liked this place! It's not a fancy place but the food and service certainly make up for any shortcomings. I had the chicken shawarma wrap. It's messy and I loved the seasoning. I had a cup of mango juice to go with it and it was a great lunch! Others also had the chicken shawarma, the chicken Caesar wrap and the chicken kabobs. They all said the same thing as me - loved it! It's worthy! Give it a try!

Absolutely loved my experience here! The staff was amazing friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was fantastic, full of flavor and beautifully presented. Every bite was delicious. And the drinks did not disappoint. creative, perfectly balanced, and a great complement to the meal. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great vibes, great service, and top-tier food and drinks. Will definitely be back!

They also now have pizza. I was super excited to try the new items and unfortunately they weren't a hit. The Shawarma wrap was disappointing; not enough fillings, lacked flavor and wrap was dry and crumbly and not in a desired flaky way either. And at $17 I felt some kind of way. The pizza was undercooked and soggy. Service was excellent as you order at the walk up counter. The lime and mint slush was delicious and refreshing and made fresh once I ordered it! The calm ambiance and vibe there never disappoint! But I do hope they rethink the new items and make some adjustments to them. I love Baba's and will continue to be an avid customer but I will stick with the hummus bowls and pita and hope they keep that summer lime refresher on the menu!

The gyro meat here is, IMO the true star, and when paired with their fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion and sauces it truly shines. It offers the right balance of pepper, hint of spiciness, alongside a nice crisp savory meatiness that can only be achieved on a proper vertical spit. My extra piece of advice, is get the spicy green sauce on the side. It offers that little extra jalapeño oomph alongside their creamy tzatziki and it's a perfect balance. Bit expensive to dine here for lunch too often so I try to keep it to every few weeks, but what a treat it is when I do allow myself to eat here for lunch. 5/5 goodness guaranteed!

They have a decent parking lot for that area of down, but I could see it getting packed on the weekends. They do take reservations. Food 5/5: I had the hummus to start and a chicken bowl with garlic sauce, house salad and quinoa brown rice. The chicken was moist and flavorful, I did ask for an extra garlic sauce(so worth it!!). The sauce comes in a small container, and I would ask for extra if you really like sauce. The hummus was so flavorful, the pita was warm and fluffy. Overall I was impressed with the flavor and overall seasoning of everything. Service 5/5: our server waited on us right away. All the food was fast and correct and our server was very friendly. Ambiance 4/5: it did get pretty loud in the restaurant, so I could see this being a downfall if you like quieter places. Overall plenty of tables and space. I'd love to see an option to upgrade to a salad for their main entrees, even if a small charge!

The food has a genuinely authentic Turkish character that reminds me of meals I had in Istanbul. The steak kabob, rice dishes, baklava, and Turkish tea have all been excellent, and the menu has a nice selection without feeling overwhelming. The tea and desserts in particular make it easy to stay a little longer after dinner and enjoy the evening. The service has always been friendly and attentive, but one thing I especially appreciate is that they never make you feel rushed. On one visit, we stayed for well over two hours after our meal, drinking tea and chatting, and never once felt like anyone was trying to move us along or turn the table over. It has an upscale atmosphere while still feeling comfortable and welcoming. To me, that is what a great restaurant experience should be--not just good food, but a place where you can actually enjoy the company you're with and make a memory out of the evening. If you enjoy Turkish food, I would definitely recommend Lumi. I'll continue coming back whenever I'm in Minneapolis.
