I really wanted to like this place because the view is beautiful, but unfortunately the experience didn't live up to it. The service was very poor. The waitresses rarely came around, and it felt like no one was paying attention to the tables. At one point, you could see customers walking around trying to find someone to help them. The food itself was actually tasty, but everything was served cold, which really took away from the experience. Even the coffee during brunch was cold, which was disappointing. Because of the great view, I'll give it one star but the service and food quality control definitely need serious improvement read more

My son got sick after eating here, he kept complaining of stomach pain and we later found out he tested positive for salmonella. It was awful. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously and improves food safety. We will not be returning. read more

I snooped some of the other reviews of this place and I have to say that I am shocked to see those one-stars! Did we even go to the same place?! It goes without saying, but the view is insane here. You're right at the top of a huge hill with an unobstructed view of the lighthouse. There's even a set of stairs that take you all the way down the hill that the locals use for exercise. There's a set of steep stairs going down one side that will take you all the way down to the ocean. They're great for pictures and those glutes! The restaurant itself is pretty casual and it has a variety of items on the menu that would please any diner. I was the only person in our party that did not eat seafood (I know, a SIN in Mazatlan!) but I was happy with the choices I had. I went for the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was SO good! The chicken was delicious. The rest of the table got a wide variety of dishes, one of which was a cheesy shrimp taco that looked so good it almost made me want to eat shrimp! ... almost. Our service was great and the table turnover inside seemed quick and efficient. The best part, however, had to have been the dessert. Ahhhhh I'm drooling now just thinking about it! They get them brought in from a local bakery in town called Dolce Mami and when I tell you not to skip the dessert, I MEAN IT! We got the little chocolate pie and the banana cream pie. The chocolate one was velvety and delicious, but the banana cream pie was heavenly. It was very hard for me to share. My friend is lucky I love her. Overall, I would absolutely come back to La Marea next time I'm in town and absolutely recommend you check it out yourself! Even if just for the view and dessert! read more

Lovely view of the El Faro lighthouse from the distance and the surrounding bay. Ate late lunch at 2:00pm after the hike. The back stairs are very steep and the steps are high, it's another hike of itself! The tuna and shrimp ceviches are generous portioned (compared to Los Angeles) and fresh. Would recommend this area for casual day and if you're not in a rush to get back. Walk back to the cruise terminal is downhill local streets and took 20 minutes. The service staff constantly came to take away plates and wipe table in the middle of us eating. I think it's their way to make sure we didn't just walk up and leave? It's definitely different table service than the US. But they were gracious and were quick to get drinks, more napkins, etc. Women's toilet was small, would highly recommend leaving your bag with a friend before going in. Place was clean, staff was courteous, seafood was great, and the view was wonderful. Would visit again. read more

Absolutely beautiful view, nice atmosphere. I had a pretty good shrimp taco, and a pretty bad roll of sushi (el faro roll) which was recommended by the waiter, but which seemed a bit off. The fools that we are we decided to eat lunch at La Marea AFTER climbing the Faro. Then going up the steps to La Marea?! OMG! We earned that lunch! But it was worth the climbs. They talk about the great food and service in this place and maybe I got the lazy waiter ? Not sure but we opted for the inside AC portion of the restaurant and the view was great. Also very comfortable seating along with the beautiful sight. The service .... Hmmm maybe could have been better. Our initial drinks took like 30 minutes to arrive. The food didn't even take that long. The food was decent (arrachera , marlin and fish taco , potato wedges) then when ready for a second drink I almost had to stand up and go and get Juan Carlos our waiter who was too busy talking to the bartender instead of actually being attentive either the customers . The view and ambiance is 5 stars hands down. Top part of the restaurant is a little casual and open floor plan. If you are looking for more fine dining type of experience ask to sit below. The views are spectacular, the restaurant is indoors with A/C pumpin which is key during those hot and humid Mazatlán days. We arrived at 7pm just in time for a beautiful sunset. I had the ahi Tuna salad which was a little salty but good, everyone in my party loved their food from, chicken fettuccini, ceviche and shrimp tacos with chihuahua cheese. Order the dessert!! It was soooo good! My fav was the banana cream pie and when we were leaving I walked by the kitchen and wished I ordered sushi. It looked amazing! Staff was kick ass, super friendly and helped me practice my spanish. Cant wait to go back and definitely recommend!! read more

I've been to this restaurant twice the first time I ordered a lobster dish which was not good I paid about $25 dollars for the plate and the lobster just didn't feel fresh the lobster meat was very dry and plus that same night I got a horrible stomach ache then I though I would give it another chance I took my parents for an anniversary dinner because the only spectacular thing this restaurant has are the views they are beautiful but I got a shrimp plate as the waiter was setting down my plate at the table it had a long hair and he saw it he took right away but the manager said he would bring me a new plate and since I didn't trust them that they would give me a completely new plate he said I had to order the same equivalent so I just ordered a completely new dish I ordered tacos which they sucked service was food was bland view was spectacular. read more

Horrible service. Too bad since they have a beautiful view. I had a group of 16 people with me. I called the restaurant prior to make a reservation and they assured me the table would be ready. We got there at 12:15pm. Still made us wait until 12:30pm to seat us. Okay no big deal. We waited another 15 minutes for anyone to even look our way. We were told they can only take drink orders because the kitchen was not open yet. Okay....so we put the order in and still had to wait another 20 minutes to get just the drinks. The restaurant started getting to get full and we saw their orders come out and nothing our way. We had to flag down servers to get even chips and salsa. We got a young kid as our server. Poor thing it wasn't his fault but managements. In total it took us 2 hours to get all of our food. I literally ordered a tostada and a cheese and shrimp taco. Please keep in mind we were the first ones at the restaurant at 12:15 and they opened at 12:30pm. My family and I will never go back again. Go to the mirador for pictures but not to eat at the restaurant. It's not worth it. read more

Let's see.. where to begin... Bohemia Oscura was on the menu but unavailable, so we ordered Negra Modelo and it was delivered barely cool. My wife ordered the Marlin tacos and i had the Ensalada La Marea con Atún. According to the menu, this salad comes with a multitude of fresh ingredients, including strawberries and seared tuna. The meals were delivered ten minutes apart. My tuna was not seared, but instead cooked all the way through. The salad was missing the promised strawberries, but there was no one to tell as the waiter disappeared after serving the second meal, and didn't return until we hunted him down to get the check. I do not recommend wasting your time on this overpriced excuse for an upscale restaurant. There are plenty of places in town that will serve you a good meal for a reasonable price and appreciate you business. read more

We dropped by for breakfast after walking up to the faro (lighthouse). So we were pretty hungry when we arrived at the restaurant. And we were especially thankful for the air conditioning. We sat ourselves down and waited and waited for someone to take out drink orders. Then we waited some more for the drinks to arrive. I asked for hot tea and the water they brought me smelled of coffee. I didn't mind it too much. After a while they remembered to take our food orders for a party of ten. Then came the extremely long wait. It's a good thing there was a Pokemon Stop there or I would have been extra exasperated. It was ridiculous how long we waited for our food. I had two cups of bad tea and at one point they offered pastries to only half our party. And yet we still waited for our food to arrive. The food was mediocre but we were hungry and tired so we decided to stay put. I ordered the chilaquiles verdes con bistek. The food arrived cold and the meat was tough to chew. Only once did they offered a refill of the coffee water. The view of the faro and the coast was pretty. The service and the food was pretty bad. Don't go here if you can help it. Just take pictures from the height and move on. There are better restaurants just a mile away. read more
