"Have to buy food to enter " policy or can't come in. El Muchacho, you guys suck
    M A.

I am unable to rate the food or service for this establishment because my friends and I (four women) were denied entry. Standing outside of restaurant, it appeared the atmosphere inside was vibing. It was around 9pm on a Wednesday when the situation occurred. We were told by the hostess that that we had to order food. We had already eaten dinner elsewhere and all we wanted to do is sit around, have drinks and listen to some Banda music. I had raved about El Muchacho Alegre because of their fun and energetic atmosphere. The last time I had gone to El Muchacho was August 2023 for a birthday celebration. I believe El Muchacho's, "have to buy food" policy is a very stupid policy. I believe customers can bring any restaurant lots of revenue from ordering drinks alone. Whatever their reason is in denying us entrance to their establishment, is all good. They suck and their loss. Next stops this week : El Cuichi Mariscos Banda and La Malinche Brewery El Muchacho Alegre . It will be my last visit

This place is known for Banda music and it sure was a fun spot to enjoy some food, drinks and the beach. My son, parents, brother, aunt, and uncles both came along on our trip to visit my sister in law. We really enjoyed the ambiance and staff. They were very nice and came regularly to ask if we were good or needed anything. If you come to Mazatlan you have to come here. Especially if you love Mexican music and be prepared to get your very own concert. Highly recommend.

omg the camerones al coco was fire i could taste the freshness of the shrimp with the egg wash and panko... and the coconut sauce thing topped it off ~ ceviche was so good too, i'm also a fan of the pulpo/ octopus being cooked like that... but i do wish it was on the grill a bit longer lol oooh and the cocktails were v naice so many tourists came here and so i could imagine how lit it would get at nighttime. and they are well known for the live banda music and it was lovely to vibe JAHAHAH only downside is that i'm deeply afraid of birds and bro there are many of em at lunchtime ahhh anyways v attractive service !

Great food amazing views the seafood is super fresh. I really enjoyed it. They have a live band playing, and they can come to your table and play amazing music. The service is somewhat slow; however, this place is packed. I recommend ordering everything at once.q

Came here to dinner with my family. The wait time was about 30-45 mins, they have you wait to the left of the restaurant on a outside patio. Before you come here just know this is definitely a party restaurant with live Banda playing all throughout the night non stop. Once seated it was so loud I could barely hear what my waiter had to say. We ordered drinks, in which the waiter was up selling us and convinced us into ordering the drinks he was promoting. Upsetting considering he hyped them up to be so good when truly all I wanted was a Paloma. I ordered a Michelada as well which lacked flavor it tasted like pure beer. The menu had a wide variety of cold and hot seafood options. My family all ordered shrimp dishes. We also ordered they're family special called "the parrillada" which had about 6 different types of shrimps. Once the food came out I had to wait about 10 minutes for the waiter to bring over tortillas and salsas. Which I fell like that could've been avoided if asked when ordering. The food over all was good but over priced for what it is. This restaurant is definitely more for ambiance than food. So if you're looking to get drunk to some live entertainment this is the place for you! Overall it was good but they do need to improve the service as it is overly packed and can barely hear inside of the restaurant.

The service was great but the food took a long time to arrive and was cold, the restaurant was very crowded and very loud

Had dinner here with a small group of 5. The caribbean ceviche looked incredible. I had tacos gobernador with shrimp, yum and everyone's food looked great and fresh. The service was thoughtful and attentive. The margaritas were tasty as were the limonada's. They also had a mariachi band that would play requests for a fee. It was worth it, they were great!

Food was amazing. Fresh seafood specials and even had some steak for meat eaters. Drinks were great after walking the boardwalk for a stretch. We got the perfect spot on their outside deck in the back. We hung out here for a while before walking up the boardwalk. Service was excellent, they had a few numbers they did when someone ordered a certain menu item and had whistles and dancing

Beautiful atmosphere, connected to the beach and the restaurant next door even had a live band playing cover classics although that music was competing with the Latino music at the patio we were at. They are strict, asking me politely to put a shirt on even though we were on a beachfront environment. Service was good--the server was friendly and patiently answered our questions regarding mixed drinks and food options. The food was good but I had minor stomach issues from the raw seafood I ate--I usually have a strong stomach too but I guess it's not worth risking it l in Mexico with raw seafood. The plate my friend was pretty good consisting of cooked shrimp. This is definitely a great place to stop by for a drink and snack before walking along the beautiful beach of Mazatlán.

Octopus tostada and tostada negra both good

If you're looking for restaurant for quiet romantic dining this place sure as hell ain't it. Muchacho Alegre is obnoxiously loud. In addition to the constant band/dj music there's also steady flow of dude blowing trumpet and trombone right in your face. That said they locals love and thrive on ear shattering music directly into the ear drum. We took a table upstairs as our fragile bland American senses can't handle the ambience. Despite being a seemingly tourist trap this place serves surprisingly good food. The gem is their pescado zarandeado (grilled whole fish). By god the flavor is out of this world. I've had grilled fish from plethora restaurants ranging from hole in the wall to the extravagant, this is by far one of of not the best grilled sea bass I've ever had. The fish is moist, chard perfectly and seasoned w some buttery sauce that's indescribable. The tostadas and grilled oysters were good but skip the grilled prawn. Ironic mazatlan is known for their shrimp yet it is the least palpable dish on their menu. Come for the grilled fish. Bring ear plugs...

Food was good, micheladas were spicy. Banda charges for each song. It's very loud here . Fun place to come for celebrations. They go around giving shots to people. Decor is very nice inside. Everyone's order came in quick and not much waiting time . We came on a Monday around 9pm

Food is so delicious it's so worth the visit. We happened to be there during a tropical storm. The storm still didn't stop us. The service was great our waiter. ALEX was amazing. Food options are great. The drinks that they recommended were so delicious as well during the storm. They immediately sat under a covered spot. Dishes were flying napkins were flying everywhere. It was overall a great fun experience. Lol when in mazatlan! Shrimp ceviche curtido is a must plus their Cruz Lizárraga camarones! Can't wait to visit again
