So I love to go to La March outside of normal grocery stores because of all the different diverse fruits and vegetables and herbs I'm able to buy that I don't normally see at Giant or safeway. Especially love to be able to select my own fresh fish! And the guys who work there are super attentive when cleaning your fish. It's a great experience. I'm a chef so I can always appreciate being here especially for the fresh produce and the coconut water which is all 100% coconut water! The prices aren't bad either and of course that really helps in today's economy. I also love the fact that I can get my miscellaneous items as well and the prices are pretty reasonable. I cater a lot but sometimes I don't need bulk items such as sternos and so I can buy them from La Mart for $1.50 a piece and get exactly the amount that I need versus having to buy 30 or 40 pieces at one time from a larger restaurant style store. So that is extremely helpful to me as well. read more

A bit scruffy and not in the greatest neighborhood, but a really good selection of Asian and Latin foods.

This used to be my favorite store, but lately it has been quite the disappointment! Fish not so fresh, expired items on the shelf, meat colors were gray-ish. I could go on and on. Tge worst part is, I know they know these things and just looking the other way. The Columbia location is 10x better! It used to be the complete opposite, but I guess demographics play a role. The Health department needs to pay them a visit. Be careful with that meat! read more

So, I finally went to LA Mart to check them out. I have been getting the Food Rite circular forever, with LA Mart's name plastered all over it, but the market was not on my usual routes so it took me a while until I saw a sale there that I wanted to buy - and Guess what?? LA Mart is not a Food Rite location. Notwithstanding their name plastered all over the Food Rite circular every week for years, they do not honor the Food Rite sales, or maybe just the ones they don't want to honor. I had the circular with me. I pointed at the advertised sale. I pointed at their name printed on the circular. They would not honor their sale price. This was not them, address and all. That is straight up fraud. I am sorry I had other items in my cart that I continued and bought. I should have just walked out and left everything. Just bait and switch to me. read more

Didn't expect what I saw. I'm glad I went on a whim with a coworker. We went just to get plantains and left with enough items for several meals. It's your typical type market with fruits, veggies, produce meat, FRESH seafood(meaning some live crabs, live fish live octopus...overall good selection, etc)...the extras of LA Mart was the clothing and jewelry sections...I would venture here to get items that sometimes can not found at local chain markets as well as for the experience...check out my pictures for a glimpse of what you may encounter...check it out and post your review read more

YAY... I'm first to review this spot... First of all its in the GHETTO...lol but... it is a good spot for International grocery goods. I come here frequently when I need to get those HARD TO FIND ingredients for my Dominican, Cuban and Jamaican Dishes. I would be lost without this spot...Seriously!!! read more

A foreigner's dream... I LOVE LOVE LOVE this grocery store. Giant doesn't quite have what I need to make my ethnic dishes so I was thrilled when I stumbled on this place. Hooray for having a faulty GPS! I go here at least twice a month to stock up on my goodies, jerk seasoning, kimchi, dumplings... Mmmm... Be warned however, its not your average grocery store. Don't come here looking for a well run operation, and don't come here if you don't know what you're looking for because English is no one's first language. read more

In a seedy and sketchy area, I tried to step out of this area because of my interest in international food is hard on me so there I came here. Not the best supermarket for international food but interesting. The store has mini latina cafeteria and bakery but I did not try it; I just bought some basic grocery food. If you shut your eyes and have some bravery, you may find that LA Mart has something to offer too but not for me, I doubt LA and I will go to Lotte next time instead. So no thank you. read more

The market isn't bad for the neighborhood it's in. It smells.... and not good.... when you first walk in the room. But I would NEVER EVER EVER use the phone stand their again. I took my sons phone to get the screen fixed and yeah he fixed it BUT he never called to say the part was in I had to call, said it would only be a few hours and when we came to pick it up it still wasn't ready had to wait another hour. Again like I said he fixed the screen but now when you call someone the screen goes black so you have to push the power button to see if it's dialing ok not a big deal but the volume button doesn't work so when my son watches videos it can be so soft you can't hear it or it will be so loud you can hear it through the floors and we don't have a choice and it's the same if he uses headphones. It's so many things wrong with my sons phone I now have to get him a new one just because of the damage done to it just to fix the screen read more

It smells when you walk in the door. Seafood area dont look clean. If it's not in a can i wouldnt buy from here.

Great customer service, fresh meat and produce, I come here all the time for my groceries and so should everyone else! They will get you what you need and situated as soon as possible! Great for fresh seafood! Got a live, whole, cold water lobster for 8$ a pound and 2 pounds of fresh mussels for 3 bucks. Very cheap and fresh. I've only really looked at their seafood department which is very extensive and self serve (other than the live lobsters and a few other items). read more

LA Mart is a great ethnic grocery store, focusing on the Hispanic and Asian market segments. The fresh produce is fantastic, the best quality you'll find anywhere. The prices on produce are good, staples like eggs and milk not so much. They have a lot of cuts of meat in their butcher shop you don't find most places, like beef tongue and goat, as well as a great selection of chorizo. They have a huge fish market, and my advice is to pick out a fresh fish and ask the fishmonger to prepare it based on the pictures above the counter (unless you are fluent in Spanish.) They have one section of prepared fillets where you can serve yourself with tongs. That section however, is barely covered with plastic wrap and since it is open to the public I have a hard time believing the health code allows it. But that's their business and there are plenty of other fish to choose from. The aisles are worth exploring for items you don't find elsewhere, such as a selection of mole sauces, hot sauces, frozen Asian pot stickers and more. read more

I went here on Sunday. The store is not as large or as extensive as H-Mart which is almost across the street but it does have a larger selection of some things such as kim chi, at much better prices than H-Mart. It is definitely worth it to check out both places for the interesting things LA Mart has that H-Mart does not and for their great prices on some things (not all). read more
