This is one of my favorite Asian grocery stores. They're the only place I've found that sells an Indonesian hot sauce called ABC, so whenever I want it, I always have to travel to Catonsville. Their prices aren't the cheapest overall, but they're not expensive either. There are a lot of options for fresh produce, and my favorite thing to buy here is the halal meat and chicken. That said, the store could use some rearranging and a deeper cleaning. The vibe feels a little different compared to other Lotte Plazas, and it seems less clean than the one in Ellicott City. The staff are nice, but they could be a bit friendlier. On the plus side, there are plenty of parking spots available. read more

2 Stars = RUDE PERSONNEL! Although I have purchased decent seafood here, I realized after recent interactions with staff here that several of the Seafood counter Hispanic workers as well as the Asian personnel encountered (who staff the in-store front office) seem most rude when approached and when asked even the most basic of questions! In the past, I have merely selected my items and then proceeded to checkout, so I had no reason to approach behind-the-counter personnel . Today, however, we had questions concerning some fish we intended to purchase and also had to visit the front office. At the seafood counter, the Hispanic man behind the counter was dismissive and twice became snappy! When asked about the bass, he refused to communicate the info requested. Then at the office, the woman snatched the receipt from my daughter and was impolite. Thus, I will refrain from patronizing this market at which we received harsh tones and unnecessary abruptness while shopping and during the manager's processing of a refund for 2 packs of SPOILED, SMELLY "sushi-grade" SALMON that I was forced to return only hours after my purchase. Only when I had opened the packs of salmon did the smell became detectable! The clue should have been the fact that the expiration date was May 21, 2026 and my purchase date was May 20, 2026. Yes, I should've checked the dates before making the purchase, but seafood personnel should've removed the salmon, should have accurately dated it from the start, and should have appropriately monitored the seafood case items to protect public health. Talk about a most serious Food poisoning threat! Indeed!!! The Lotte Market EXCEPTION is the onsite MOOLKOGI Restaurant which consistently provides EXCELLENT FOOD, and A-One CUSTOMER SERVICE! Unlike Lotte, MOOLKOGI is owned and operated by a warmhearted, dedicated, very responsible, expert chef, and professional Asian businessman and gentleman whose dishes are exceptionally good, always fresh, and well priced! But LOTTE MARKET overall FAILS to meet the public expectation and apparently seems to be operated based on a mindset that providing polite and qualitative customer service is optional and unnecessary. How foolish! I will not condone such a mindset by continuing to be a patron of this market as I reject and resent its biased and exclusionary business practices. read more

My visit to this Lotte location was nostalgic and comical. The layout is manageable but steer your cart with caution lol. Someone should really invent sensors for emergency brakes on these shopping carts! Ok, on to my review. Options on the variety of vegetables during my weekend visit was just ok. Taro, Japanese sweet potatoes, vietnamese herbs, and asian greens were looking limp and wilty. I did score some very fresh ginger roots and Keffir lime leaves. A nice find of bulgogi on sale was bonus. Tons of snacks, and yes check those expirations. I searched everywhere for banana essence and only found a handful small bottles of the langka (jackfruit) McCormick brand. If you can, park far! Oh, and come early. read more

Lotte Plaza hosts Lotte, an Asian grocery store in Catonsville. I'm Korean, so Lotte does not deliver the same way that H Mart does. This Lotte is also very specifically in a very Indian neighborhood so there's a lot more Indian items which is really cool. The eggaholic is in this plaza as well as a lot of other different vendors like a sari store. It's definitely suburbia strip mall vibes, but there's a lot of options and a grocery store which friendly and helpful staff. read more

We were in the shopping plaza to check out EggHolic for an Elite event, and Lotte screamed out to us. Jeremy and I absolutely adore exploring grocery stores in general, but Asian markets are probably our favorite. We had been planning on going to the Catonsville H-Mart because Jeremy has started learning how to make his own Chinese foods, and we needed fish sauce and scallions. I had a vague idea that Lotte existed, but sometimes it takes stumbling upon a place to get me to actually clock it. Needless to say, we didn't need to go to H-Mart after wandering the aisles of Lotte. It's a large, spotlessly clean grocery store. It seemed less crowded/busy than H-Mart, but I'm not really sure why. I supposed the Asian community could tell me in detail why they prefer one store over another, but I'm not that savvy. One can hope at some point in the future, as I learn through exploration, to be able to identify the differences myself. I was a tad disappointed in the small selection of beverages. There are loads of anime-themed drinks, but those don't appeal to me. I absolutely plan on buying some for my 12-year-old nephew for his birthday, though. I did get a gummy bubble tea because I love bubble tea. We managed to fill a basket full of things we needed, things we have never tried before, and other lovely delights. I could spend SO MUCH money in this store. It took quite a bit of willpower to not blow through my entire monthly budget. What fun! read more

You can also purchase typical American products but they would be more expensive Staff are friendly and kind and help as best as they can. The store is well organized and clean. The ambience on a weekday around 2pm is calm, but around 5pm it can get quite busy! Today, I visited during the weekend. I expected it to be busy, but it was still a calm, cozy environment to shop for ingredients. I got to try the authentic Korean dishes at the cafe in the store. The food is absolutely delicious! It's nice to take a break from shopping to sit back, rest the feet, and eat cozy food. read more

The best of the Asian grocery stores in the area, with an excellent produce section and a broad variety of especially E & SE Asian products. There's also a small food court. Lots of interesting imports you may not see elsewhere. Seasonal and holiday-specific products also make a showing. If you're used to bland American middle-class chain grocery stores, the diversity of the clientele may also be surprising and pleasing. And if you're adventurous, the same shopping center has a number of small national eateries that seem to change every year. Many things are well priced. Check out things like sriracha, seasonings, salt, canned beans, bulk containers of cooking oil. The store can be a bit disorganized and the signage is lacking... there's also less of South Asian imports than there used to be, and fewer "hard goods" (housewares and the like) than they originally had. But overall, this is my go-to for produce especially, and generally better than the other local Lotte location. read more

Solid super market. All kinds of Asian foods. Korean, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. They have a BBQ Chicken in the food court which is my go to Korean Chicken Wings in the area. Sometimes they run great deals on lobster and also Korean pears as well. They have student discount but it's only for full price items (exclude already discounted items). An older shop, with a strong smell from the fish market, this might not be the gem you were expecting... until you start wandering the aisles. The condiment section is amazing. Just the variety of fish sauces alone. I managed to find a bottle of sweet and sour sauce (my wife likes it, I always forget to get packages of it when we get take out). Then there's the produce market. Clean, large and with a variety that puts even the largest of supermakets to shame. I bought a 6 pack a lychees at my local supermarket for 6 dollars. I took home a dozen for 1.29 from here. 4 varieties of mangos. Two varieties of custard apples and one hybrid. How have I not known about this place? read more

This is the 5th time we have got nasty, putrid stuff - stuff that was on shelf that we bought paying full price! (I wonder how nasty the stuff on the so called "special sale" would be!!). This store most definitely has storage issues or they really need training on handling stuff. The first two times were the ready made dumplings you can buy by the bags - completely rotten and disintegrated instantly while boiling. Avoid the sushi here at all cost. We asked to increase our order for 8 people for an extra charge which we agreed; however, they did not increase the order and added more garnish to the main order and had less than a normal order. We overpaid for our order only to have it picked up by my son who was unaware. We did not have enough food for holiday dinner for this reason. My son had to drive all the way back to collect a refund. Seems like they want to get away with cheating out their customers to improve their margins. This was an entire waste of time. read more

This place is heaven for fresh produce lovers. You can travel the world just looking at all of the varieties of fruits and vegetables. It is jaw dropping. Dragonfruit, jackfruit , multiple kinds of bananas , coconuts, and mangoes ! Korean pears, at least 7?different kinds of avocados. Mushrooms of every size shape and kind. Greenery and fresh herbs. It is really crazy. Even just to look and smell the stuff. I love it. If you look carefully there are also organic fruits and veggies and herbs but not always marked on the signs. (11/4/2014) Weirdly 2 Lotte Plazas within 4 miles of each other. This one is significantly more difficult to get to traffic-wise, it's at that crazy intersection of Routes 29 and 40, and Frederick Road in Catonsville. Nice wide aisles, fewer people, better (and more) parking. This particular Lotte has a huge Southeast Asian section, almost half the store with it's own aisles dedicated to Indian goods (dry goods, spices, frozen foods, breads, candy, snacks). Also has a halal meat section. More Chinese items than in the other Lotte which seems to be more Korean focused, also means fewer deli/prepared food type items. read more

There's two Lotte's on Yelp with the same address and each with several reviews already. I'm just going to post the same review on both. I think I need to make more trips out to Catonsville now because this is by far the best grocery store in the area. This place offering Asian goods is just a cherry on top of the cake, because even without those goods, Lotte rocks my socks. The fruits and vegetables are fresh, the canned and packaged goods are diverse, the meats and fishes are nicely presented, and the dairies have extended expiration dates. In addition, you can find all sorts Asian cuisine, snacks, drinks, and desserts. Depending on what you're shopping for, the prices here can be significantly cheaper than other markets. Lotte has plenty of self-serve food sampling stations as well as the traditional staff-served ones. Best yet is that Honey Pig Dumpling and Honey Pig Chicken reside within Lotte. read more

I bought 2 pomegranates there on Thursday, and went to cut one open just now (3 days later) and it was rotted inside. So I threw it away annoyedly, & decided to cut open the second one... Same thing. Nicer and cleaner than h-mart and old Lotte. There is a wider selection of other Asian, non-Korean, food in both refrigerated and freezer sections. The fresh produce will be the envy of Safeway where their prices are so high. The sushi stand is made fresh and better prices than Wegman's. I stopped by Honey dumpling on the side of the store to observe the dumpling making. What a great deal! $2 per bun. You pretty much get an on-the-go meal. The bun is thin with lots of filling, Kimchi, bulgogi, pork or red bean paste. Too bad there is no place to sit and enjoy the foods. I heard they will have a food court coming up soon. read more

I like this place because they're super clean, less crowded than the other Lotte, and have a lovely little food court! This Lotte carries fare for more Indian cuisine than anything, but there is a small food stall on the far end of the store selling delicious Korean cuisine. The dining area is casual, and you order at the counter. Everything cane out piping hot and super fresh! Prices were about the same as the other Lotte. Some things were reasonable, some things were expensive. Their produce and fresh sea food remains the best deal. read more

I have been coming here for years and I continue to love this place. When you step in here, it's like being in another world. You will be able to get asian/indian foods here that you haven't seen anywhere else, they even have durian fruit. They have some prepared foods and sushi in the back which is delicious. They've done a much better job at keeping the place clean and stocked. I'm happy with the service and the prices are extremely low. I will say that they have cut back a little bit on their sushi grade fish but I think that's because they now sell sashimi, which is inexpensive, at the sushi stand. BIG. CLEAN. CHEAP. LOADS of VARIETY! What else do you want from a grocery store? Granted the parking lot is a bit small and there isn't a single employee who speaks English (we had to ask five people if they carried red curry paste). But besides the language barrier, I think I found my new grocery store in town! Of course that doesn't mean this place is without its flaws. As another Yelper recently points out, the isles are very confusing, the seafood department is more like a fish market in Pyongyang, and some of the veggies are totally rotten. However, this place still has it all! An entire isle dedicated to the art of dumplings... more Mochi than you could possibly ever want... dried shrimp... about 20 brands of frozen Samosa's... bright bottles of syrupy exotic sodas...an isle of paste/curries... there's even a Honey Pig stand in the back! Now I'm not from Asia and I didn't recognize half of the items I saw in the store. But in the end, Lotte is the only reasonably price grocery shop left in town. I can't tell you how awesome the prices are here. Everything from the fresh seafood to the fruits, veggies, cheeses, nuts, and even bottled Galab Jamon, is priced far more reasonably than your nearby Safeway, Mars, Giant, Wegmans and Harris Teeter. I have a feeling Lotte is going to crush the competition once word gets out. I've never been to the old Lotte or H-Mart in years... but I do know that this place is larger, cleaner and better stocked. They just need to re-organize a bit and teach English to their employees so that they can answer questions from customers. And as far as employees are concerned... I must say that even though the people who work here don't speak English and have probably only been in this country for a short while... they still have better work ethic than the "Canadians" who have zero. read more

Lotte plaza recently opened this location very close to where I live, and it has quickly become my go-to grocery store for perishable foods. I tend to buy all the nonperishable over the weekend, but pick up things like fresh veggies and fish more often, and Lotte Plaza has some of the freshest, cheapest produce around. This includes everything from Thai eggplant and banana flowers to apples and celery at prices that are better than other grocery stores in the immediate area. They also have a large seafood section with reasonable prices, although the majority of fish is prepared in simpler ways (just cleaned, head on), and I prefer to cook fillets or other boneless preparations. The seafood I have gotten there so far has been fresh and high quality. Prices are a little steeper and selection less impressive for some items that many people consider basics, particularly dairy products. This store is extremely clean, bright and spacious. Unlike some local Asian markets, there is more than enough room to move around, even when the store is crowded (which it often is). The employees are friendly and helpful. With a good mix of English, Spanish and Asian language speakers, nearly any shopper can find someone who is able to direct them effectively. There is an great variety of foods and ingredients from various countries and cooking traditions available, including a large selection of Indian, middle eastern, south american and Halal choices. Some foods are grouped by country of origin, while others are sorted by category, which leads to a somewhat unintuitive layout. For example, there are at least 3 places in the store where you can find tea, depending on if it is considered American, Asian, or "Special". It sometimes takes me a long time to find basic things when I'm not sure if they are considered 'American' or not. The designation is pretty arbitrary as far as I can tell. If you visit at lunchtime or want a snack while shopping, check out the Honey Pig Dumpling shop on the left side of the store. Cheap and very, very tasty! read more
