One of my friends recommended that I go here and I've been hearing good things about it. It was a walk in appointment and after 10 minutes, I got seated, I showed the technician what I wanted, nude french manicure with think black tips (Just exactly like the picture). The whole process was fine until she freestyled the tips with the brush, I wanted the tips to be thin but it was my fault for not saying anything. I thought it was too late to fix it since it was so thick. I think I will stick to Glowin Nails instead. There's more interaction with the tech over there and prices are lower. read more

I found out about this place from someone I saw with beautiful nails and she told me about La Mer. I had my nails done a week ago and the place I got them done at did a terrible job. CC took me in last minute and fixed my nails and made them beautiful. I'm always told "no you can't do that" or "your nails are too small" when I ask for special designs but CC never said that which was refreshing. Just because my nails are smaller doesn't mean I don't like prettier nail designs. I'll be doing back in for a fill soon! Thank you CC! read more

Landy and Clair (I believe they are the new owner ) are warm, attentive, and fun. Landy did my facial and Clair did my Brazilian (pretty much painless ) and lash extensions. My friend got her eyelashes done at this salon and i thought they looked absolutely stunning! i was warmly greeted and showed them a picture of what i wanted to done to see if they're able to and she assured me they were. it was my first time getting eyelashes extensions so i was super hyped. they had an amazing set up and with blankets and it was super relaxing i even fell asleep. i noticed unfortunately when the lashes were done they weren't what i wanted, but i had a good experience so i let it slide and tipped 18%. after two days my eyes were still itchy and a bit swollen, but on the third day my eyes broke out into a complete rash and were swelling so i had to rip them all out.(keep in mind i didn't wet them for 5+ hours after being done and everytime i washed my eyes with unscented face wash they burned and i couldn't open them.) i called them to see if i could get a refund and a lady stated no unless i had a doctors note to prove it's the glue from their eyelash extensions . so i proceeded to go to the doctor get my eyes checked out and they confirmed that this does happen often with eyelash extensions and they should warn you of this possibility when getting them done. i paid for my note and when i got to the salon she claimed my note was fake and refused to compensate me anything. she even called my doctors office to prove it was real and claimed i told the doctor to say it was the glue and eyelash extension. she told me i'd have to sue if i wanted some sort of compensation. i broke down and after that happened she admitted that she didn't want to believe or trust me because "people like me" (im black) always scam. i told her i understand her position but i would've never showed up if she didn't tell me prior that with a doctors note i could be compensated. i found the whole situation prejudicial and racist. jasmine (the actual lady who did my lashes and was burping in my face while doing so) refused to refund me, but the lady who made the racist comment did and we hugged it out and she compensated me half the price of the lashes which was $120 so $60 and $20 for the doctors note out her pocket which did make up for the situation and apologized for being defensive. personally i would be cautious going there if you're a person of colour but im glad this was solved this one time. read more

Lack of customer service. They react bothered when you ask for advice. I had asked for post pedicure advice for cracked heels. She stared blankly at me and told me it's not curable. I looked up my own info online and after a week of moisturizing daily I have baby soft heels. They are extremely understaffed and can rarely take walk in appts. They did not honour a repair that happened within their 7 day policy. I was told that my nails were too long and not included in their policy, even when the one gel nail with tip popped off perfectly. She examined my nail and then returns to me 15 mins later to tell me there is a repair charge. They are cold and borderline rude. read more

I am a regular at La Mer. My go to girl is CC. Shes definitely the best technician at the shop. CC has stayed back countless times for me (as I finish work only an hour before closing time and seeing as I live in Richmond Hill, it takes a good 30 minutes to get to the salon) and never has she ever made me feel like a burden nor have I felt like she rushed the job. CC is a perfectionist who pays great attention to detail. She's great at shaping and making your nails look flawless (I always do the UV-gel over my natural nails). The only reason I gave the salon 4 star is because I don't think the salon overall is anything outstanding, just CC. If i was rating CC alone I'd give her 5 stars. I've been to other technicians before settling with CC to see who's best, and the other technicians are very mediocre in my opinion. Also, the colour selection is nothing exciting and they don't seem comfortable doing nail designs, which is a bit of a bummer. If you do decide to go to La Mer nails, go to CC! read more

First time going to this nail salon. The technician complained that it was difficult to take off my existing shellac polish. And she clipped too deep into my nail bed that it hurt. I have long nail bed. She didn't know how to clip my nails and I offered to clip them myself after she hurt two fingers. She proceeded to comment in her native language with her colleague about people having long nail bed was a result of leaving their nails long. She didn't know I could understand the language and I was offended. My nail bed shape runs in my family. I found it rude that she made the assumption and commented in a language she didn't think i understood. When I took my hand out from soaking for a moment while I was showing a photo of a polish that I was hoping to get, my tech complained in her native language to her colleague about me not soaking my hand. Very rude!! My tech did a sub par job in cleaning my cuticles. The polish ended up on my cuticles and skin as shown in the photos posted. Very disappointing. And the place is very dirty. I was asked to sit at a table that wasn't cleaned off of previous nail file dust when she soaked my nails in acetone. And she didn't change the towel from the previous manicure when she did mine at her station. All the files were pre-used. The base coat bottle had hardly anything left in the bottle and she had a hard time getting any on the brush. Her colleagues seemed nice though. Perhaps they might be better nail techs. Would I go back? No. I would not recommend this place. read more

I have been going there for years now but the last few times I went, I felt like they were rushing me and they were filing so hard it hurt. When you put your hands in the UV light the bottom where your hands sit is all dirty. You can feel all the crud that hasn't been wiped off. I am so disappointed as I used to love it there. Also we had an appt and they were 25 mins late which I know can happen but it just has gone down hill now which is sad! Will have to find another place to go.... :( read more

Not a very good salon. I came here as part of a birthday party with 5 other girls and we got regular polish. We came in and the tables and the cushion where you put your wrists were dirty. My friends and I were joking about it and we were swiping our fingers along the cushion and our fingers were literally black. They were chinese and kept speaking in mandarin and I think they didn't know that I understood them because they kept complying about the other ladies getting a pedicures who said that they miscommunicated that some jewel was 50 cents and not 15. It was a terrible feeling atmosphere. And when I was drying my nails, I accidentally hit a corner of a table and I told the employee and she said she would fix it. All she did was paint over it, and before I even went back to the drying section, the polish had sunken in and her "fix" had done nothing. Do not recommend at all. Go to any other place. And while we were choosing nail polishes, and comparing colours, they told us to hurry up and it was incredibly rude. Do not go there. read more

I found this salon to be clean and modern. The chairs for pedicures are new and wonderful. I got shellac nails and mine lasted 3 weeks. I have visited several salons in Newmarket with my nails lasting 10 to 12 days. I would definitely recommend La Mer Nails. read more
