I came to this barber shop , the first time I really like this place the guy was asking 20 for haircut , the second time I came there was a different guy his name was Lee , he did OK haircut , also his smoking inside and display have a smell of strong cigarettes , then he put on me a lot of hair gel by the end without asking me . Great customer service, as soon as I walked in I was welcomed and the barber even made sure I paid my parking meter and also offered quarters if I needed any. I got a fade expecting a quick cheap cut but I got a premium haircut compared to the other small/older shops. I like being able to sit, tell the barber what I want and they take care of it without me needing to ask for anything to get fixed and that is exactly what I got. This shop is close to where I live. They have a sign out front that says, "Senior Haircuts $15". All good. But every time and I mean everytime I go there are four people waiting. There is only one barber. So this means over an hour wait so I just go back home. He must be good or cheap, hopefully both. Getting a decent haircut for less than $25 is a pain. I tagged along today with my friend and I'm glad I did. The first man paid Irwin a nice compliment, "beautiful work," and he was very gracious a humble with his reply giving credit to the other barber (who was not there). The second man was just as pleased and he looked very nice upon leaving. As my friend got his hair cut we were the only ones there and Irwin had some very nice philosophical things to say as he gave another great cut. Two young boys came in and apparently they've been coming to Irwin since they were small....brothers who were about 14/16. The best part of my experience was being able to witness the kindness and wisdom of this man. I've gone to this place several times ever since the initial recommendation from my grandpa. Every time I go, I debate whether or not I should return. The price is very cheap, at $8, and though I saw a sign there that the price is raising to $9 next month, that is still quite cheap. It is also family owned, which is a good thing in my book. I like that I can mosey on in there and feel like I'm just a regular guy stopping by the neighborhood barber back in the days before the corporate take over of everything that has the potential to earn a few bucks. The guy who usually cuts my hair is really nice too, which is cool. The only downsides are that usually my hair does not come out that good. It could be because I lack the ability to communicate to him exactly what it is I want, or that he lacks the ability to do it. I'm not really sure, but for some reason i'm never too happy with the result. At the other place i've been it costs twice as much but I almost always am happy with the result. Another thing that might be a drawback is that sometimes there are a few people in line before you when you arrive. I've only ever seen one guy in there cutting hair at a time, so it usually means you have to wait until everyone before has their hair cut. Not a big deal in my book, but its worth noting cause some people are always in a hurry. Overall, I'll probably go back there lots more times, mostly because i'm cheap. And because I like supporting local/family owned business. My hair usually looks okay about 4 days after I get it cut, so its not really a big deal that I don't usually like the final product. He is always friendly and polite and he even remembered me when I came back! His cuts are clean and pristine that I never left un-satisfied.
