This place does quite a bit of morning business with coffee and breakfast items and they have numerous seating options sitting directly outside their door. They consider themselves the best grab and go place around. They do have a limited craft beer selection along with a decent wine selection that sits and 10% to 20% higher retail than your average H-E-B. However, the traffic in the area and the parking have gotten increasingly more hectic and chaotic. Because of this, I have been using a location out in the 'burbs. I would give 5 stars but because of the chaos, I have to give 4. The store itself is chaotic inside but can still navigate, employees are that TJ-friendly that we all know and love. Well, I ended up buying ice at a higher price from a gasoline station...don't remember the name. Am I raging about the difficulty of finding ice? Nope! In retrospect, it is rather humorous that so many places were out of ice simultaneously. If all of the ice went to fun pursuits, I'm good with the icecapades (case of the missing ice). Lesson learned: Buy ice in my neighborhood before heading downtown Austin.

Ok now that is out of the way. Review time: I really love this location so much. The store is huge with wide aisles making it easy to navigate compared to the smaller stores. Even if it's crazy busy on a Sunday afternoon you can still get to the items you need with ease. The store is still very clean and of course modern since the rebuild. Employees are friendly. The shelves are stocked fully 99.999% of the time. I live extremely close to the East 7th Street store (5 min away) and opt for this location time and time again.

They have sandwiches and other prepared food (e.g. giant $4 burritos) in the cooler. One time I had to ask for toilet paper and the guy brought it out from the back room. I suppose it took up too much space on the shelf. This is the alternative to Royal Blue, which has even higher prices, although Royal Blue makes some food in-house. On the whole, I prefer Second Street because Royal Blue has a weird vibe and some weird brands and this place is a regular store.

That might be due to so many people being in town that week but they seemed to run out of drinks fairly quickly. It's also no fault of the store but it's worth mentioning right in front of their doors seems to be a popular hangout for Austin's homeless. I don't think we managed a single visit here without being asked for change. If you need a quick snack they are in a great location, just don't expect an overly pleasant visit.

I picked up a tea and a muffin, both of which were absolutely delicious. One of my favorite parts of the experience was sitting outside at one of the iconic blue tables and enjoying breakfast while taking in the atmosphere. While some items can be a bit pricey, the quality of the products, the cleanliness of the store, and the excellent customer service make it well worth the cost. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in Austin.
