We decided to make tacos one night and wanted some fresh, homemade tortillas so we stopped in here after seeing it in passing. The girl working the counter was friendly and helpful as we had several questions. We picked up a pack of corn tortillas as well as an order of rice and some of their red salsa. All of our items were delicious. I snagged a picture of the menu so I could remember what else they served. I look forward to coming back soon and having a full meal.

Had for lunch, their brisket tacos taste like roast beef tacos. And if you're from the 956 RGV like me, you know that just won't cut it. Why the 3 stars? Well, their corn tortillas taste amazing. You can tell almost everything is home made. Beans. Rice. Tortillas. It's just irritating that they advertise bistek and it ain't that.

I'm from Houston and I'm in town on Business. Came to have breakfast this morning and for one the place is small and they do not show the prices. Money is not a issue but it's more convenient to know there prices. Then I order Menudo and they only sell that on the weekends which should say on the menu on the wall. Then I order 3 different types of meat for gorditas and tacos and they don't have it, which is disappointing. So I order breakfast tacos, 3 out of 10 nothing special. Then the worse this place charges like an upscale restaurant. Not good definitely won't bring my workers here to eat anymore.

Now this is good stuff. Is it as good as the original downtown, I have to go back and check as it has been a few months (how is that for an excuse). This is more of a restaurant setting than the one on downtown, but still only has about 8 tables. I had two tacos for breakfast; egg and chorizo and a potato, bacon and cheese, both on corn tortillas. A few minutes later l had a Barbacoa de Lingua on corn and called it lunch. OK, at least that was my excuse. They do not have Barbacoa Hogs Heads. That is really sad that the city has sunk to not letting places serve that. Those days may be gone, but not forgotten. Make no mistake, this is still a blue collar workers' place where where crews get a load of tacos so there may be a wait as they are made to order. I came in about 8:45 AM and there was zero line. While I was there, only one other gringo came in for an order. All the rest were locals for the area and foremen picking up orders. Is this a date place? I would say absolutely. The lovely Lady of the house would say no. However, I sure was eyeing that 1 lb Barbacoa de Lingua plate listed on the small menu. Friendly staff, clean, and I have now switched from another place in the area to here. I will be back!

Really good comfort food! My first time having gorditas and the rice and beans were especially good. My family members love going here for gorditas, as well as to get fresh chips for salsa! The sauces available are also really good.

The gorditas are the real deal here!! Have tried the tacos and the tortillas are made in house so the are delicious but the gorditas have that unique flavor you just can't find at any regular place. The barbacoa ones have to be eaten.

It's a shame that tortilleras aren't ubiquitous in Austin. Rio Grande #2 (#1 is up on Braker Ln) is one of the rare ones, and they serve very good antojitos to boot. I had a fantastic gordita with nopales and pork in red chili sauce, and a good taco with guisado verde (and I usually don't like guisado). They've got fresh tortillas and fried chips and salsa for sale of course, as well as churros, buñuelos and paletas.

Real Mexican food in south Austin. Tacos and Gorditas are fresh, hot and only $1.99. Last week I had two fantastic chicken Gorditas and was completely stuffed. This morning I had breakfast tacos overflowing with egg and potato on a fresh made tortillas. There is a nice assortment of Mexican sodas and pastries. The girls working behind the counter all speak English and couldn't have been nicer. I noticed they also do catering and sell homemade tortillas and chips in bulk. Looking forward to trying some of their speciality dishes next. Tasty food for a great value!

Yummy authentic breakfast tacos. No frills and inexpensive. Amazing flour tortillas - so glad I checked this place out this morning!

It's a legit mexican food spot. They take forever though, like 20 mins if not more. Not worth the wait.

Arriba Abajo as you walked in just gave me all the vibes of a happening place when you want to hang out with friends and have a great time. We ordered the braised ribs rolled tacos for appetizers. It was so fresh and kicking' with all kinds of flavors. I wish I had ordered another one. The avocado sauce layered on the bottom was just enough to keep wanting more. For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance. Our server was a delight and took very good care of us. We didn't order any of their alcoholic beverages since we were both working, but definitely we will be back to enjoy more food and try out their beverages.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Next time I will try some other delicacies since I always get tacos tacos burritos or quesadillas: time for some new items on the menu! Enjoy!

I've only been once and it's definitely not gonna be the last time. In fact, we've got an upcoming reservation that's been on the books for quite sometime. They've managed to remain delicious, relevant and in demand 50 years! That's saying something. I'll tell you what that says...it says they rule! Reservations can be tricky to get but oh so worth it. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of the Nojito. My boyfriend loves the Mexican martini (it's primo). Let's talk about food. Wow-wee is it everything and then some. This is the kind of Tex-Mex flavor that sends your tastebuds into a tailspin of goodness! On our visit we did a salsa flight (we did 3 salsas), the queso (melted muenster and Oaxacan), Wagyu beef tacos, and chicken verde enchiladas. We did a spread like that in order to share everything. Food so good I'd give ten stars if I could. I can't put my finger on it but there's just something so special about the food, the taste of it, and the quality. It's just incredible flavor explosion bite after bite. If I had to guess, I'd say the food has been made with love, skill, and attention to detail all these years. Hence, their amazing reputation. Service is beyond compare. Hands down some of the best I've experienced in all of my worldly travels. Fonda San Miguel (Tzintzuntzan) is a dream come true!
