Sat down with a friend yesterday and ordered a delicious bowl of chicken soup. When did it arrived, I couldn't believe the size of those carrots. They were the size of saucers. I've never seen a carrot of that magnitude. I really enjoy coming here on a weekly basis and sit down over a cup of coffee and friendship. What I like about it is the café has several seats for those having lunch. The young women are very busy behind the counter, preparing meals for everyone. Give me an opportunity to say hello and learn a little Spanish Mexican language. The café smells very clean and looks very clean. Terrible. Do NOT buy food here. For one thing, the price is just way too high. Further from that, any produce you buy is going to look like it's been sitting around for a long time- as it has! Finally, my husband picked up hamburger meat for a spaghetti sauce I was making, homemade. The meat looked fine but the flavor when the meatballs and sauce were done was AWFUL. Our children and my husband would not eat these items and I have been making it the same way for over 30 years. I threw away a crockpot full of spaghetti sauce and meatballs. Waste. The girls who work here are so rude and recently, my neighbor told me that she was told her card was "declined" but when she went home to check, she had been charged twice. TWICE! Something is off. Talking to the manager is futile as he pretends not to understand English and then, ignores the complaints. Our problem is that there are NO grocery stores out here. This company does not care about customer service, a cashier who is dipping into the till, or quality products because- in their minds- where else are we going to go??? NOT_HERE!!! We no longer will shop at this establishment- not even for emergency items. If we can't get it at the Dollar Store or the gas station we will wait for our weekly trip to HEB. Save your money. This supermercado has great authentic Mexican products that may sometimes be hard to find in other grocery stores. It is usually clean and the check out lines move quickly. The employees are also friendly and helpful. They also have a bakery and sell fresh, cooked Mexican food inside the supermercado. read more

When this venue first opened last year, 2016, I was curious as to whether or not their deli had whole rotisserie chickens but none were to be found but the asado de puerco caught my eye and I decided to try it. It was so good that after consuming the meal and licking the styrofoam container, I realized that I hadn't taken a photo. I sometimes go grocery shopping here as a quick stop for small items. BUT one day I decided to order some already prepared food(on the left side of the store). I ordered 1 beef fajita and 1 chicken fajita tacos and a side of refried pinto beans. The fajita tacos were discussing, the only thing I was able to eat were the beans. La Mexicana carries all the essential grocery items. The best choices are the fresh foods like fruits and vegetables, meats, fish, and milk. Some of the packaged food items like cereal are more expensive than what you can find elsewhere, but the store does have a selection of all major categories of packaged goods so that you can get what you need here. I'm very disappointed with the pricing associated with their product. I compared their prices with several stores nearby and it's unbelievable. The prices are double and some items are almost triple the price. Price gouging is unacceptable and very disrespectful for our neighborhood. If it could give it 0 stars I would. Every single time we go to their "restaurant" they always mess something up and I'm over it already. How can you mess up breakfast tacos! They over charge to add cheese and they never add the cheese, I had to start checking the order before leaving. Today my husband went to get us some tacos, I couldn't go myself because we have a newborn. He gets home with 1 out of the 3 orders semi right. The one they got kind of right was still missing the cheese that they charged us for. The other two were completely wrong. My husband doesn't like complaining specially in this situation because the ladies don't speak English and my husband doesn't know any Spanish. He said that the lady "wrote" the order down but still managed to get it completely wrong. The last time I was there I complained to the lady on the counter taking my order and told her please make sure you add the cheese because you always charge me and when I get home none of my tacos have cheese and she didn't even apologize or said let me compensate you and not charge for the cheese but instead charged me 50cents for cheese on each taco, I paid $2 in just cheese. They are never polite they never greet me they just ask "what do you want" which I consider pretty rude. I'll never be coming back too many bad experiences back to back. I think I gave them more that enough time to make it up or to give me better service but no they don't seem to get any better just worse. I hate giving such a bad review because the store is great just the people working on the food section. read more

Everything I've gotten from the bakery and restaurant has been good! I grab food here often. Love their fresh made corn tortillas. You get alot for a small price! The produce is reasonably​ priced and wide selection, but sometimes its a hit or miss on how fresh it is. Great selection of meat and it's also very reasonable. Large variety of dry goods and canned goods but that section is pricier for some reason. The staff is always wonderful! read more
