Whenever in the area, we visit La Mexicana Taqueria, and it is routinely very good. The three taco combination with rice and beans is my go to entree. They have all of the favorites here, such as tacos, tortas, and burritos; all of which can be prepared with the meat of your choice. Some of the meat selections include carne asada, chicken, pastor, and carnitas. The quality of food is very good and consistent. The well-stocked salsa bar helps top off your entree. They even have french fries, and they are the best! My last visit was during tamale making season, and they had masa prepared for sale. I picked up thirty pounds at a reasonable per pound price. That evening the tamale production line in my house was in full force. It wasn't long until I had the opportunity to try the masa. I must say it was the best masa I have ever had. Food was great, portions pretty good, but the prices seem a tad high for this location. The to-go service was quick and the to-go packaging was good and doesn't make a mess like a lot of other taco shops. The items and prices on the online menu are pretty confusing. I didn't go inside but I heard it's clean and has pleasant ambiance for a taco shop. 4 stars is an appropriate rating based on this experience. Love this place. We always dash in here while on our road trips through the area. They recently changed their menu- it is all the same stuff. My family and I went to have breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. I work customer service and I know how busy a Sunday could be. For my surprise, the ladies in the front were extremely calm and friendly. We ordered our food and sat down to wait for our number to be called. The problem was when the food arrived. This older lady brought us our food and she was EXTREMELY and I mean EXTREMELY rude to my table. (Note: There was only 3 of us) In a rude tone, she tells us, " I saw you guys! You don't have to keep calling me! I see you! I have other things to do!" We just raised our hand to let her know where we were, " We did not yell or were rude. We simply waved our hand. The second time was, again, the same lady. We decided to give her a second chance and this time ask her if our menudo had "pata" (pigs feet) and once again we were extremely courteous and friendly and she, ONCE AGAIN EXTREMELY RUDE replies with "I don't know why don't you stick the spoon in there and see." I've been to La Mexicana several times, but that lady ruined the vibe. All of their employees are always welcoming and friendly. The food is always great. All I could say is if that lady does not enjoy customer service she should NOT work there. Love coming for their homemade tortillas. Food is good here and have only ordered one dish that did disappoint. Just beware of hidden charges when ordering certain dishes. We ordered a mojarra and the carne plate with rice and beans and the cashier never advised us of the extra $2.00 fee per dish when ordering. I had to get up and ask what that was for since the menu does not have that fine print she said it was for ordering the mojarra al mojo de ajo and the other fee was for ordering tripas. Just make sure to ask if it's extra. Recommend this business to train your cashiers to advise customers of those extra fees.
