Small ice cream and snack shack, lots of goodies after a hot day on the rocks! They had some souvenirs too. My kid went plain strawberry and I got one of the Garnato Cookie Sunday cup and it had A LOT going on.

We were wanting something cold and sweet and came across this Michocana! They don't have amazing ice cream flavors so we went for some sorbet. The strawberry sorbet consistency was meh. It wasn't like sorbet consistency but rather kind of icy. I wasn't a huge fan of it. We also got the passionate fruit sorbet which was sorbet consistency and tasted amazing! Service was fast and easy and they were really nice!

We stopped here for dessert one day during our trip to Moab. The service is amazing. They were patient as we tried different flavors to make our selection. We eventually went with passion fruit and strawberry sorbet. Both were amazing and they were flavors that you don't see any many other sorbet spots around here. The consistency of the sorbet was a little off, but it wasn't bad. The passion fruit was really the one that stole the show. The location is not on Main Street so it took us a bit to find, but it's still close enough to walk there and then walk back to the Moab food trucks. There's no dedicated parking but it's easy enough to find parking. The wait was negligible to get our sorbet since it's sorbet lol

Walking into La Michoacana Artisan, it seemed like half the hikers in the area convened on this one spot for their after-hike refreshments with the promise of homemade ice cream. A long line snaked out of the shop as everyone sought to replenish the calories they had burned through the day and the outside benches were full of people enjoying ice cream and various treats. Still, the line moved pretty quickly and soon we had our order: Medium ($7.29) - This comes with three scoops (not the most generous of sizes), of which we went with the Matcha Pistachio Cheesecake (MPC), Gansito, and Horchata. The MPC does have a bit of matcha earthiness, pistachio nuttiness, and has small cubes of cheesecake mixed into. It has a major issue though - it isn't completely frozen into ice cream. It's like it just came out from the ice cream mixer, not completely solidified and more like a light custard in texture. I saw that some of the ice cream tubs that were filled over capacity seemed to be on the melty side, but I didn't expect it to actually be melted going in! I have never had the gansito snack cake before, but this ice cream tastes exactly like the description of this dessert. It's mostly earthy/grainy, kind of like biscoff, with a bit of a strawberry swirl, and a small amount of cream and chocolate. It has a bit of that kind of snack-cakey preservative taste, like taking a Little Debbie cake and making it into an ice cream. The horchata tastes nicely of cream, heavy cinnamon, and rice. Flavor-wise pretty good. Unlike the MPC, the horchata ice cream level was all the way to the bottom of the tub, making it the most solid of the bunch. Unfortunately, this results in quite a bit of ice crystals embedded inside. Overall, the ice cream is reasonably thick - not as low overrun as a typical super premium, but much better than any grocery store ice cream. There's a bit of a light stretchiness, indicating the possible use of some stabilizers. I hate to give this business only a 3 star rating, but they have some major issues that should not exist in a properly run ice cream shop: the tubs that are overfilled are melted while the tubs that don't have much left are icy. I went in expecting to visit this shop multiple times, and came out not wanting to go again. As a side note: As one of the employees was scooping more ice cream onto the ice cream nachos for another customer, I saw her bangs getting into the ice cream. Seems like a safety/sanitary concern. Bathrooms - None that I could see Edit: After seeing the owner's response, I think I might have been a little too harsh on La Michoacana Artisan. The fact is, it's homemade ice cream in a small tourist town. Yes, there are problems, but comparing against standards for an artisan ice cream in larger cities isn't really a fair comparison. Considering most other options in the area serve commercial ice cream, it's definitely a business worth supporting, even if it's not up my alley.

We visited here for an evening treat. This is a wonderful little establishment with homemade ice creams including the most imaginative sundaes such as those including Flaming Hot Doritos. We had the Cookie Monster Cup & the Ice Cream with Croffle (a waffle & croissant blend...but like a Belgian waffle). Both were amazing. They had traditional Mexican desserts too. The portions were big. We could have shared. The service was great. The employee was friendly & gave us tastes & helped us make decisions from all the options. He also talked to us about the Moab region. They have a super cute store & nice environment to come in, shop & eat. So cute!

Cute shop with delicious ice cream. I had the matcha pistachio cheesecake and chocolate abulita. Hubby had a large cup of coffee ice cream. Quick service even with just one sweet girl behind the counter.

The gentleman who served us was very kind and offered to let us try multiple flavors as we made our decision. Ice cream is priced reasonably and if you get a cup you get a lot of ice cream and other treats as well. Super tasty, lots of fun flavors. I got gansito but loved the blackberry cheese and the sweet corn.

Service- they were fast and friendly. Food- we tried their tosti locos, I've never had it with carrot and I was very impressed on the taste. I also had a taro ice cream, I could taste the taro with every lick!

Ice cream Very good ice cream. I liked the pistachio matcha one the best. Very thick and flavorful, you actually taste the matcha. The pistachios provide a nice crunch, They have other unique flavors and, I sampled about 4 and that was totally okay which was very nice. But pistachio matcha had the strongest flavor and best texture to me. They have chocolate rocks! Awesome topping. 2 scoops cost me a little over $5 which is affordable compared to ice cream places in New York. And good size too. The owner was very nice. Such a cute shop and there is a gift shop attached. I came back a second day and got the pistachio Marcha cup $8.50 and added chocolate rocks to it. Very very good with the sauces, whipped cream, pocky and wafers they add. Thank you for being open in the winter for those who love ice cream anytime!

What a gem! There's a lot of options for ice cream in Moab, but nothing as unique as this place. It's about a 1/2 block off of main Street, but well worth the detour. They make everything in house and you can taste the difference. The amount of unique options they have is just amazing. They also have quite a selection of non dairy treats that looked amazing. Best ice cream in Moab at the lowest price. All the flavors are handmade and totally delicious. My favorites are the matcha cheesecake, tamarind, gansito, and avocado. The girls are really nice and happy to give samples. Just off main street so it's quiet and not rushed but still close enough to walk around while you eat your ice cream. read more

Yeah I wish I had the willpower to stop and take a picture of what I ordered to share here because their presentation is very much on-point, but I couldn't help but dive in immediately. Look every place in Moab advertises ice cream, but this is the place you want - this is their speciality and all homemade. Their sundaes are decadent and artfully arranged. The croffle is DANGEROUSLY good. Very wonderful people behind the counter and prices are really reasonable for the quality you're getting. Very sad to be leaving Moab as I've enjoyed treating myself here after long days of big hikes. read more

Amazing flavors and creativity! I had the lime, cucumber spicy "split ". My kids had prickly pear, matcha pistachio, and chocolate caramel and they were out this world ! It is tiny and the line can be long but it's worth the wait. If you're just looking for basic ice cream go to the Moab diner but if you're looking for flavor then La Michoacana is your jam. read more

It's tucked into the side of a building and off the beaten path. Very small shop with room for about 4 people inside. I waited outside for the group ahead of me to clear out. There was only one worker when I went at 8:30pm and she was swamped. I had to remind her that I still needed to pay as the next group started giving her their order. I had the strawberry sunday (can't remember what they call it), and it was really good. Homemade strawberry ice cream, strawberry syrup, cream sauce, and garnished with strawberry candy. I would give them 5 stars if they would get another person helping behind the counter. Maybe they normally do, but they didn't when I was there. It took 15 minutes for her to make 3 desserts. read more

Don't miss this tucked away gem of an ice cream place. They have some many yummy looking ice cream creations, it was hard to choose. We ordered the blueberry and cheese creation. Very good! This is all home made. Do not go anywhere else! Some unusual flavors but some standard ones as well. I had coffee and coconut almond. Both were delicious. Just bummed we didn't find this little gem until our last night in Moab. read more

Water was brought to our table before I'd even put my purse down. Our ordered drinks arrived shortly after. The menu is great! I got the Hot Bird with a side salad and I'm not kidding when I say it was one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I've had. The chicken breast was moist and there were no weird bits. The sauce was delicious, pickles crunchy, and the mini, tomato, and lettuce were great additions to an incredible sandwich. My side salad was big and fresh. It hadn't been sitting in a fridge for hours. The Mister got Bahn Mi and we were both very pleasantly surprised at how good tasty the sandwich was. The meat was warm and flavorful, the veggies were bright and crisp. It was excellent. The real surprise of the meal was the French fries. Think fair fries only thicker. They were so freaking good. Crunchy outside, piping hot and tender on the inside. Perfectly salty. I can't believe I'm raving over French fries but they were legit delicious. Cute space with indoor and outdoor seating options. The attached bar area also looked inviting. I would 1000% come here again.

I had a chance to meet the owner, Zinzi, and we chatted about our shared connections to Cape Town. The dining room is very nicely decorated and comfortable. I stopped by La Michoacana Artisan and tried their cranberry strawberry special drink with popping pearls--and wow, it did not disappoint! The fruity mix was perfectly refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness, and the popping pearls added a super fun twist. The drink was beautifully made and totally Instagram-worthy. The staff were really friendly and helped me pick it out, which made the experience even better. Definitely recommend trying it if you're looking for something unique and delicious. This spicy mexican snack was what i needed for the night! it's made with mayonnaise, cabbage , tomato, cuernitos (pork skin , but i asked without it) sliced avocado, sour cream and valentina sauce which is spicy. Service was good. so many options to choose from !! read more
