Great spot for good food in Moab. We came on the recommendation from a friend and we weren't disappointed. Cute decorations with a casual atmosphere. We got the Gyro Platter and the Chicken Shwarma Platter. The portions were big! We took home leftovers. The gyro meat was very tender and flavorful. Came on a weekday night and was seated immediately. Honestly I was impressed by the quantity but also the quality. We shared the "two appetizers" order for the table, and they served it on multiple plates with three bowls of pita--I even double checked with the staff that it was just one order because of how much it was. The hummus was so good, baba ganoush was also good but the hummus definitely stood out as a favorite in our group. I got the gyro platter--it was huge. And the gyro was freshly hot and tender, not dry at all. It was definitely my favorite. Everyone in my group enjoyed their dishes--the sultan platter, lamb shawarma, and salmon artichoke. Ended up sharing dessert--the basbousa cake was lightly sweet, faint coconut taste with pistachio bits, and the huckleberry ice cream reminded me of blue raspberry flavor--maybe a little too sweet for me but still good. One of the few diverse and halal restaurants in Moab. The food is a bit overpriced and ok at best, but then again this town is in a pretty remote area. Don't get the calamari. It's overfried and the breading is too heavy (same type that is used for fish sticks). Not good. I had the sultan kebab which comes with two skewers, rice, and salad. It was ok, but not great compared to what I'm used to having in NY. We asked if we can order kababs individually but they are overpriced ($12 for a single chicken kebab). read more

I had been deprived of Asian food for 24 hrs. Needed something quick and this was the closest we found. The lunch special came with either fries or rice. It is Christmas day and Sultan was open! We were so grateful for that, after a whole morning of hiking. The place is very nicely decorated, not big but the tables aren't crowded. Service was fantastic! And the food totally hit the spot. We ordered two appetizers: olives and pickles, and traditional za'tar. We enjoyed both of them very much. For entrees I had the stuffed eggplant and my husband had the lamb chops. The lamb chops were absolutely delicious and my stuffed eggplant was really tasty. We even ordered dessert. The baklava is homemade and is served with vanilla ice cream a looots of crushed pistachios. We were hungry and the food was really good! We had a very nice time at Sultan Mediterranean this evening. Our appetizers were delicious - hummus and babaganoush, and the pita bread triangles were fresh and warm. The roasted artichoke salad was amazing! The stuffed eggplant was nice - but the ground beef was very oily and the oil seeped into the eggplant, leaving a greasy texture. The restaurant is on the north end of town. It's nothing special in terms of the ambience and decor, a bit dated and uninspired. They make up for it with the food. The best humus and pita I've had in a long time. Same with the grape leaves. The lamb kebobs were perfect. The Tucson shrimp was a bit of a miss, didn't really care for the sauce. All were delicious. The baba ghanoush was smoky and fantastic! The hummus was silky and shawarma grilled to perfection. The grape leaves were a little denser than my preference, but had good flavor. We stayed in Moab for a few days and drove by seeing a large amount of cars consistently every night, so decided to try them out. And were they tasty! We ordered their gyro platter, side of grilled chicken, and hummus appetizers. The food was very tasty and flavorful, from the soft pita bread to the gyro meat, we were satisfied with our meals. Ambiance is nice and busy, parking can be somewhat tough so we parked in the back. Service was basic, but the food made up for it & came out quick. The chicken shawarma platter and the gyro platter were standouts and so much good, fresh food. We've eaten here on other trips and this restaurant has definitely improved with time. Fast and friendly service, updated restaurant decor and large portions of fresh food, made to order make this a win. This town crushes local restaurants at dinner time and if you aren't staffed or don't have your food game down, it' can seem paralyzing as a customer. Wanted to try this place since the reviews were good and we love Mediterranean food. However, this place was a HUGE let down. We got the gyro sandwich and lamb platter. I placed a pick up order via phone. The gyro sandwich was the worst item in the order. The lamb meat tasted terrible, and I'm not exaggerating. We took a bite each of the meat and said we couldn't eat it anymore. It was not great quality meat and the pieces of meat seemed old and not seasoned well. We ended up just eating the fries and eating part of the pita bread it came with. The lamb platter was pretty decent! Didn't come with enough tzatziki sauce so it was a bit dry to eat with the rice. The lamb gyro tasted good. Fries were meh, not seasoned well at all, they just threw a bunch of sumac on top of it. Will not be back here and I hope they check their lamb meat quality and improve. We are so glad we found this place while we were in town visiting Arches National Park. We love Mediterranean food and this place has so many delicious sounding options. We started with the calamari for an appetizer. It was very tender and yummy. I ordered one of their newer creamy dishes--alpino chicken. The chicken was on top of a creamy, cheesy base with some triangles of bread around the outer edge of the plate. My husband loved his generous gyro platter, once again it had great flavors. I ordered the Mediterranean bowl with lamb shawarma. The lamb was tasty. A few of the slices had fat and were chewy. The beets were diced and delicious along with the quinoa. I enjoyed the hummus with the pita slices and the falafel was deep fried. It also had fresh slices of avocado. Instead of the house salad I got grilled vegetables that contained carrots, zucchini, squash and broccoli. The vegetables were cooked el dente in a butter sauce and they were delicious. We were greeted by a friendly host and we chose a table on their patio. The host was also our waiter and we received excellent service. They have parking right in front of the restaurant. Food is really good! We got the Manakish, Alpino Chicken, and the ribeye plate. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is interesting - they have a neat esthetic. I wish the chairs weren't just the standard stackable metal chairs, it's very lowkey in terms of tables/chairs. The parking up front is a bit cramped and there isn't a lot of it. There is an open, unlit gravel lot behind it. Parking there at night was a little confusing because of the lack of lighting. Overall I would absolutely go back, the food was great, I just wish the parking and chairs were a bit better. read more

Mediocre food, quick service, nice decor Our family of 4 stopped by Sultan Mediterranean Grill for an early dinner after visiting Arches park in Aug 2024. We like Mediterranean cuisine and picked Sultan based on good reviews and recommendations. The restaurant was nicely decorated and had an ok atmosphere. We were the only visitors at the time. The service was quick and polite. The food unfortunately was somewhat disappointing. Selection was good, presentation excellent, but somehow they managed not to do the food right. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm making it 4 hoping that the owners read this review and make things better. See detailed dishes description below. I'm hesitant to recommend this restaurant but it seems they have potential. I would give it another chance. Appetizers Two appetizers combo: Hummus and Babaganoush - Babaganoush was good. Hummus was tasteless :( Falafel - this was one of the worst falafels I had. Not much taste and it was dry. Presentation was gorgeous though :) Entrees Sultan Kebab - this one had an excellent great flavor created by a perfect combo of spices. However, they managed to overcook it badly so it was completely dry. It felt sad really that such a flavorful dish was ruined. Chicken Kebab - this one was the best of 4 entrees we had. Chicken was done perfectly, was tender and flavorful. Beef Shish - this was also very flavorful and the meat was done right. Unfortunately, it was somewhat over salted which made it less enjoyable. Cute little place, ambiance is very Georgian, nice ethnic decoration and music. We came at 7 and had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. They do not take reservations like most places in Moab and do not serve any alcohol. After we were seated we ordered tzatziki and the falafel, both were pretty good. I ordered the Lamb chops with truffled fries and OMG the lamb chops were absolutely amazing and worth coming here just for that!!! My husband got the chicken shawarma and he liked it. I tried it and I didn't like the spices so much but he liked it but their garlic mayo was delicious. My lamb chops were still the best.
