Great set up for swim meets. One of the best facilities around. Really good coordination for large meets

What exactly am I paying for?…read more Seriously. I purchased a membership for lap swimming, but the reality is that members are constantly competing for access to THREE lanes. Not an entire pool. Three lanes. And apparently the expectation is that up to FOUR adults can share a single lane. Four. There was a day when a third person joined my lane and that was RIDICULOUS. Four people sharing one lap lane is not a quality swimming experience. It's overcrowding disguised as a membership benefit. Then there are the limited hours. Which I was initially fine with until everything else. There are the swim lessons and you will be removed from a lane if the instructor needs the lane you are already in. Then there is the jacuzzi, which seems to spend more time closed than open. I swim three times a week and I honestly can't remember the last time it was available. At this point, why advertise it as an amenity at all? And today I find... the facility is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a swim meet. The only notice given was a piece of paper taped to the door. A piece of paper. In 2026. Members provide phone numbers and email addresses when signing up. Why collect that information if you're not going to communicate closures that eliminate nearly half a week's worth of access? No email. No text. No notification. Just drive over and find out when you get there. The most frustrating part is that none of these issues exist by themselves. It's the combination of all of them. Limited hours. Limited lanes. Overcrowded lanes. Frequent jacuzzi closures. Priority given elsewhere. Unexpected facility closures. Poor communication. Yet the membership price suggests you're paying for a premium aquatic facility. You're not. For less money, I can join a gym with a lap pool, a functioning jacuzzi, longer operating hours, fitness equipment, and significantly better availability. City of La Mirada wants to charge premium membership fees while delivering a consistently limited experience. The entire operation feels incredibly cheap. Cheap communication. Cheap availability. Cheap member accommodations. But somehow not cheap membership prices. If members are expected to share three overcrowded lanes, lose access for entire weekends, receive no meaningful communication, and watch amenities remain closed for weeks at a time, then management needs to answer a very simple question: What exactly are we paying for?

Come a year later, I have been auto charged for lessons that I never agreed to. When I called to inquire about these charges they said it was because I had a lesson that had not been paid for within 8 days so they automatically purchase on your behalf. That's funny because I still have 6 paid lessons that I have to use. Secondly, they set me up for reoccurring lessons for one of my daughters without my approval. I have never signed up for reoccurring lessons and now I have to reach out to them to cancel because they warned me that if I don't pay for these in time they will automatically charge me again. So, now I have to contact customer service twice to fix things that I never agreed upon or approved or signed up for. What a waste of time and energy. Lastly, I was never planning on renewing lessons due to the fact that they do not have lesson slot availabilities for what I need. They hold lesson availabilities and prioritize times for private and semi-private in a group. So, when I want to use my semi-private lessons and do not have a group designated to that, my availability reduces drastically and I am not able to get the times that work for me. In addition, you are not able to use the gym's locker room facilities to shower, change or hold your belongings. You are supposed to share a one person public shower and change in small pop-ups where the floor is wet and you don't have anything to hang your items on and you are dealing with small children. They even frown upon you if you need to use the restrooms. This does not work for me. This is not sanitary and not convenient by any means.

There are two pools. One is used by adults for lap…read moreswimming, as well as swim practice for the older kids. Itʻs in the shape of an L. In the summer, the pool is 50 m, that runs from shallow to deep. There are also a few lanes in the deep end (13 ft) that are 25 yards. In the winter, they reconfigure the lanes so that they are 25 yards (shallow water) and 33 yards (from 7ʻ to 13ʻ). Overall the pool ranges in depth from 4ʻ to 7ʻ and 13.ʻ It is open year round for lap swimming. The other pool is a shallower pool, used primarily for family swim, and swimming for kids in the summer. They also use it for lessons and swim practice for the kids. They have designated hours for public lap swim in the big pool from 12 - 3 PM, M-Sa, and also include Sundays in the summer. Be sure to look for the FAST swim program website in order to reserve and pay for a lane for lap swim. In the summer, the community summer day camp programs come and use the pool, usually from around 11 - 2. There are lifeguards. If you are doing lap swim, itʻs recommended taht you know how to swim. Lap swim tends to be very busy, and most of the people swam in high school or college, many of them during 12 - 3 are older. Basic swim equipment: fins, paddles, kickboards, goggles, are allowed to use as part of your lap swim routine. Swimwear attire. Overall, itʻs a very nice facility. It could use some facility upgrades, like shaded areas where people can towel off in the hot summer months, and where others can wait. It could use more regular cleaning of the locker rooms especially in the summer, when there should be restroom/locker room attendants. It could use more signage, and graphics, and the check in for everyone using the pool should be located near the entrance -in its own building, or a ticket booth. Itʻs a great place.

From our very first interaction, it was clear that this wasn't simply about reserving a venue. The team genuinely cared about helping our family create a beautiful space where we could gather to celebrate an incredible life. Because of the timing surrounding my grandfather's passing, we needed to secure a venue quickly. Alma and Alex graciously expedited the approval of our requested date, allowing our family to move forward with confidence during an already emotional season. That simple act of kindness removed a tremendous amount of stress from our shoulders. Throughout the planning process, Alex became our primary point of contact and was exceptional from beginning to end. Every email, phone call, and question was met with prompt communication, professionalism, and genuine compassion. Alex consistently made us feel like our family's event mattered and worked diligently to ensure every detail came together exactly as we had envisioned. I'd also like to recognize Noah and Franky, who were our very first points of contact. Before we were introduced to Alex and Alma, they immediately made us feel welcomed, supported, and cared for. Their kindness and willingness to help established the tone for what would become an outstanding experience from start to finish. On the day of our celebration, the entire staff continued to serve with the same level of professionalism and grace. They were attentive without ever being intrusive and quietly worked behind the scenes to ensure everything flowed smoothly. Their support allowed our family to focus on spending time together, honoring my grandfather, and welcoming the many friends and family members who came to celebrate his life. The facility itself was beautiful, clean, and perfectly suited for our needs. It comfortably accommodated our large gathering while providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for a day filled with remembrance, laughter, tears, and stories. Looking back, what stands out most isn't simply the venue--it's the people. Alma, Alex, Noah, Franky, and the entire Fullerton Community Center team demonstrated empathy, professionalism, integrity, and genuine care throughout every interaction. Thank you for helping our family create such a meaningful celebration of life. Your kindness allowed us to focus less on logistics and more on celebrating the life and legacy of an incredible man. If you're looking for a venue for a Celebration of Life, memorial, family gathering, wedding, or another special event, I wholeheartedly recommend the Fullerton Community Center. We would gladly return for future family celebrations and will always remember the care your team showed our family during one of life's most important moments.
