Bought the dry hot sausage, marinated shrooms, meatballs and loved every mouthwatering item! Son behind the counter is the most friendly man you'll ever meet. He shared that Adam's IGA in Terryville carries some of their dried meats -gtk I highly recommend this place!!!!!! read more

Lovely hidden specialty shop which brings me back to my Waterbury roots. If you want to assemble a quality antipasto plate- stop here for homemade marinated mushrooms, eggplant and stuffed peppers not to mention their sausage (duh!!!). Just picked up some things for thanksgiving. Seeded loaves of bread, rolls, sweet and hot sausage, soppressata, pickled mushrooms and mixed olives. There was so much more. Beautiful facility. Nothing but the best quality sausages around! We are particular to their dried sausages however all their meats are delicious. The staff is very knowledgeable of their products and helped me with several cuts of meat. Ample parking, very clean and well stocked storefront. I love that you can buy their dried sausage at several local stores but nothing beats going to their location in town plot! read more

A true meat market right from the pages of Italy. Rob the owner is no less then awesome. He makes you feel like family. Every time I go, one smell of the cheeses and meats I feel I am back in Italy. The meats, cheese and Italian groceries are also fresh and delicious. They also dry cure all there sausages on premises. They staff is helpful, friendly, what beautiful people. This is one of the few true Italian stores that actually make their sausage on the premises. You really should try their chicken sausage which is not only healthier for you, but delicious.They usually have it on Friday's nice and fresh. Both hot and sweet sausage are also delicious. Braciole which is a staple in Italian sauces is nice and fresh offering both beef and pork. If you love to make fresh meatballs they sell the typical ground beef meatball mix of beef, pork and veal. Cheses are another fantastic item to buy and they offer such a great variety. The dry sausage is something to just devour. I LOVE this place. Stock up while waiting on the canned tomatoes (right from Italy) and dry staples like pasta. If you are lazy or just want to take a shortcut, they make their own meatballs sold frozen and they are honestly just as good as mine which takes me a few hours to make. It is located in a small area but has parking for about 10 cars. read more

Hands down the best dry sausage I've had. (Tried the hot one.) Firm and dark with a hardly detectable casing. The fennel-garlic flavor makes it unique. Disclosure: I'm told that the founder was a close relative's protégé. So we may share a learned taste for this type of salumi. Also tried the stuffed cherry peppers. Your average, high-quality variety. Huge peppers, though. Not mind-blowing, but definitely not disappointing. (It's hard to see how you can experience a mind-blowing stuffed pepper anyway.) read more

I've been a regular customer for 3+ years. They have the best sausage at the best price. Even their cheeses and cold cuts are great prices and believe me I am an educated consumer who loves great food. You should see the Italians who regularly come to this store. Family owned and run. Every cooked food is made at this location. The best Italian restaurants in the area buy their sausage from them. During Easter, XMas and New Year, they make specialty festival foods and to get it, you need to place your order in advance. This is the real thing!! Their prices are extremely good too. Checkout their brown X-large eggs at less than $2.00 a dozen, normally same price of white Medium eggs at other grocery stores. Best part is they are very friendly! read more

Let me start by saying this place is great: their sausages are fantastic and made on the premises. You can stock up on various Italian imports while waiting. They also have a great variety of cheese. The products are a five star review. But beware as not to order from the website; customer service is non existent. I placed an order via the website on December 30, 2016 and still have not received my order. What is worse is no one will respond to my many phone calls or emails. I have been charged $80 with no product, update, or response. Customer service review - zero stars. I am highly disappointed and will not return to the store based on this experience. read more

La Molisana is a great place to find fabulous Italian specialty items. They are known for there excellent sausage that is distributed to numerous local and other restaurants around the country! I have also discovered that they make the best meatballs and homemade sauce that you can buy as well as fresh breads. Get there early in the day the bread goes quickly. It's a great way to enjoy a homemade spaghetti and meatball diner without spending half the day in the kitchen. read more

The company is two parts - Italian deli and grocery in the front and commercial sausage production in the back. Sausage, fresh and dried coppa style, is their specialty. They've been doing it commercially for ten years now. If you like Roma, La Tavola, D'Amelio's - then you like La Molisana because they all use our product. They've been favorably reviewed by the New York Times and have earned "Best Sausage" by Connecticut Magazine for two years in a row. I ordered mine on what was described as a "hard roll," but there was nothing hard or crusty about it. It seemed to be ordinary soft bread shaped into roll form--fluffy, nearly tasteless, and without the character or soul of a proper Italian roll. It detracted considerably from an otherwise generously made sandwich. The retail-brand white and wheat bread displayed for customers who wanted sliced bread should probably have been a clue that authentic Italian loaves were not part of the deli selection. Since it is tomato season, I was also disappointed that the tomato and all produce on my sandwich's. They tasted as though they had been nearly frozen - bought cheaply as commodities. Like the bread, unimportant to the sandwich experience ? Two stars overall: two for the genuinely tremendous people and one for the history, authenticity, and wonderful old-school character of the store. There is a great deal to appreciate here, and I will gladly return--but next time, I'll explore the prepared foods and specialty items rather than the deli sandwiches.
