We went here last night and had a great time! The staff was very friendly and we can be more than some are used to having a very active little two year old. I had the Audrey' combo plater and everything was very tasty not knock was the cheese inside the Chile relleno was not melted yet. The salsa was very tasty and the pickled vegetables were a nice bonus. We had a booth and it was very comfortable. The restaurant feels very family friendly as it is more laidback and we were not the only family with old kids and no one gave us weird looks. We will very likely return! read more

Delicious food, good service, lengthy wait. We got there before a large party, but the party was seated before us. We went on a Sunday after church. Chips, salsa, and cabbage salsa were on our table ready for us. Our waiter took our drink order quickly, but took a while to bring the drinks. Once we ordered our food, we had to wait at least 15 minutes before it came, but it was worth it. Everything was delicious, we were so pleased with the flavor and quality of the food. And the portion sizes were very generous. The kids menu items were perfect for my kids, and they had multiple options for them. We went in last night 1/6/23. Yes it was busy and we had to wait a little bit for our drinks and food. (They were training a new bartender and it was FRIDAY night) The service from the staff was great! They made sure to keep the chips and salsa refilled while we were waiting. The cooks have been there for a long time and are passionate about sharing that authentic taste with others. The staff is friendly and the service is great. The place is clean and has a good atmosphere. If you like spicy, I highly recommend the Chile con carne with garnish. A lot of people like the wedding chicken. It's good but that's not my style. First of all, when you enter a rather usually busy place, but you go at an "off hour" & they are not busy....you should be seated by someone , anyone , quickly. I think for some reason it's just not the same as a while back when I used to eat there a lot more. So, I walk in and it's not busy at all. Hostess was on phone w/back turned to anyone entering. At least you could make a motion or something that u will be right w/me. Waited about 5 min. And finally another server sat me. A smart server because they want to work and make tips. Salsa taste like tomato sauce. No spice or heat at all. I asked for a spicier salsa, they got me Tapatio!! Oh m g .... I can do that at my own house. LOL Chips were greasy. I normally can plow thru an entire basket before I get my dinner when Chips and salsa are good. Well, saved some calories I guess. But when it comes to good food, I don't care about calories. Then we got our main course had a three combination course there was a burrito that was super nasty, enchiladas was nasty and old chicken and the sopas was hard to eat and just tasted nothing of a fresh meal. We decided to go here based off some of the higher reviews, which was a terrible idea on our part. If I could give zero stars I would. We ordered the chicken nacho platter to start and the chicken tasted like it was old, had been cooked from frozen and microwaved, it was extremely dry. There was a ridiculous amount of cheese and the cheese type was not good for the nachos. We ordered the Quesadilla Supreme which was absolutely not Supreme, a tiny half quesadilla which was overfilled with cheese and had the same chicken as the nachos. We also ordered 2 combo meals all of which were just as bad as the starter and the Quesadilla "Supreme", the rice was dry and starchy, the refried beans along with the rest of the food all tasted microwaved and was not at all enjoyable. When we told the waitress that we didn't like the food she just gave us a dirty look and walked away. All in all, I would never recommend anyone to eat here, from start to finish, the whole experience was awful, we paid for meals and took a photo of how much food we had to leave as it was all inedible. Quick service, server remembers all my 5 kids orders, and the food was bomb! I ordered the molcajete and by the time I got full it still looks like they just served it to me. No dents at all. My husband ordered the chicken plate with wedding sauce. It's a special creamy sauce they have with the perfect Suttle kick. It reminds of chilly but as if they added sour cream to it. If you want a kind, friendly environment, with decent food, where you don't get judged by your color, this is NOT the place. From the moment you walk in, there is a hostess that is very rude - not welcoming at all. She gave us a wait of 20 minutes, we were okay with that, but she sat 3 other parties (who were White) in front of us, even though they arrived after us. I asked to speak to the supervisor, Yesenia came to talk to us. She was a but more polite, but still condescending attitude. I don't even think she was a higher up? I think they just brought her up because they wanted to shut us Mexicans up. They finally decided to sit us, but the hostess we originally speaking to went to the bar and had the bartender sit us, I guess she was that disgusted with us. I came here for 2 reasons. First, I was craving Mexican food to my core. Second, I heard about this wedding sauce. We both only had water to drink; & I was struck by the fact that our waters arrived in 2 ginormous cups. They were larger than pint glasses. I was a huge fan of La Morenita on Dale Road. Unfortunately they are no more. I kept hearing good things about La Morenita on Coffee Road. Finally we decided to give it a try. Verdict? Very tasty. THIS is a family owned restaurant, and if it's not Gloria(owner), it will be Jordan or Brityn (adult children)who will be there to make sure everything goes just right. You can't go wrong when family or philosophical values are involved. With that being said, my favorite dishes are... Steak Chile Con Carne (hot enough to make your nose run! ) Double order of the Garlic Prawns Latin Cobb Salad Chicken Wings (MUST ASK FOR BRITYAN STYLE. They are double fried so the taste is sealed in! ) The "Sue burger" it's a secret menu item. The shrimp cocktail...its also a secret menu item... just make sure you ask for chilled shrimp. Rule #1 at La Morenita? Do NOT eat the chips! Why you say?? Because you will fill up on them and not get to enjoy an incredible meal! We started with the shrimp poppers - not greasy, light and crunchy and filled a nice sized prawn and a sauce that has cream cheese in it. It comes with fresh guacamole, sour cream and a verde dipping sauce. There were three of us eating dinner. I ordered the Jumbo Camarones/Prawns with the red sauce, it had a smoky flavor and I believe the waitress called it a Ranchero sauce. It was filled with red and green peppers, and yellow onions. Pretty darn tasty. My favorite part was the refried beans and red rice. When I have a bad day this is my favorite comfort food and La Morenita does a great job of alleviating my work stress blues! Mom ordered the Verde Shrimp enchiladas - this was a serious mistake on my part! This was hands down the best dish of the night. The verde sauce is excellent - a nice balance of savory and slightly spicy, with a touch of cream. The boy ordered a spicy beef dish - too much for my tastes but he enjoyed. Since this was a celebration of my latest orbit around the earth - we shared a deep fried ice cream. The coating on the ice cream sort of reminded me of Tony the Tiger's sugar frosted flakes... but once the ice cream melted into it, it softened the texture. I am just very disappointed with my food, The healthy burrito was not what I usually get the chicken was so hard and tasted old the burrito had no flavor I usually get guacamole or sour cream with it it got no guacamole the inside was very plain no flavor , rice was very watery . I've been going to this place for decades and unfortunately had a really bad experience today. I know the covid situation has created all sorts of stress and frustration but when I called to order dinner for my daughters birthday (I live out of town) the person I spoke with told me I couldn't use a credit card. I understand that this is a decision that is difficult for businesses to have to make but when I hesitated trying to figure out how to handle buying my daughter a nice dinner from a distance the person on the phone became impatient with me. I requested that the order go ahead as planned anyway but the person taking the order didn't seem to have paid attention. I said a second time to go ahead with the order then was told I was being rude. I really don't have the energy to deal with that sort of thing. This was what my daughter had requested for her birthday but I don't think I'll go out of my way for this ever again. I was contacted by the manager after the original post, I was accused of using "vulgar language" with the person on the phone. I can state without reservation that this was not the case. I can only assume that blaming patrons who speak out is the way they try to hide poor service. I'm really upset by this truly unfortunate turn of events.
