Not sure where the "fine" comes in, I didnt think the menu was all that fine. A couple of large parties were there that night so that slowed down the process and wait times were long. So what happens endlessly baskets of chips and salsa. I had the fajitas, other friend carne asada and my sister had tacos. Again nothing special. I love Mexican food and I don't think the food lived up to the name of the restaurant. It is a table service restaurant that hands out a fork wrapped in a paper napkin. Again, I am confused with the name of the restaurant. The server was very nice and alerted us that the food was coming. Value wise, at $110 I would have expected more. Lastly, I mentioned they had some birthday celebrations going on, they have something going with that, but one party had these sparklers going off and it was a nuisance with all the smoke as we were eating our meals. Zero stars. Came with a party of 4, was sat down at a table immediately. 4 workers were observed helping other customers and waiting on their tables. No servers ever came after about 15-20 minutes-No drinks, no food, no service at all. We got up and walked out in front of 2 workers and no acknowledgment at all. I returned last night (went for the first time in Jan.) 15 min before 9 pm on a Tuesday and wasn't sure if we'd be seated but thankfully did. Tesoro is an upscale Mexican restaurant. The space is nice, furnishings are nice, the strip mall it is in is a bit sketchy and the overall vibe is that they are trying hard. Service is good, and about average for this level of restaurant. Prices are on the high side in relation to the 400+ other Mexican places in this area - BUT - the food is great which brings the value home. We have had several things on the menu, but our go to is the sol y mar. This dish is thin sliced chicken or steak filets (or both) with grilled shrimp, rice, beans, garnish and fresh tortillas. The thing that sets it apart is the sauce. You can choose between a few, but the Jalisco sauce is one of the best sauces of any kind I have had. It makes the flavor of everything pop. The sauce seems to be butter based, perfectly spicy and has a lemon pop to it. Kind of like a spicy Hollandaise sauce. The chicken is tender and spiced perfectly. The beans are standout. The rice is good. The shrimp were well prepared. Salsa is really good. Chips are average. Sol y mar with one meat will set you back $23 - add 5:for both meats - but the chicken is the standout. Try it. One of my favorite dishes anywhere - the Jalisco sauce makes it incredible. read more

I placed a takeout order and went to the counter to pick it up. As I arrived, the server realized she had accidentally handed my order to a DoorDash driver who was leaving the restaurant. She ran outside, retrieved the bag, and attempted to give it to me. I declined to accept the food since it had already been in another person's possession. The staff repeatedly insisted that I take it and questioned my decision, even asking if they should "just throw it away." I calmly explained that I was not comfortable taking the food and requested it be remade. After speaking with multiple servers and some back-and-forth, they eventually agreed to remake the order, but the interaction felt argumentative and unwelcoming. Even though the staff acknowledged the mistake was theirs, they made it seem unreasonable to ask for a remake. I understand mistakes happen, but the way the situation was handled especially regarding food safety and customer service was disappointing. read more

Went to Tesoro's for the first time yesterday and they greeted me very warmly like a home, they sat my family and me right away. The waitress recommended the Para de Tesoros which was an amazing chicken dish with shrimp on top with a nice kick to it, they also offered us homemade flour tortillas and they were delicious with the meal. Food was decent, drinks were just as expensive and watered down... bummer, server clearly couldn't have cared any less about our party... it was quite clear we were in for a mess when they pointed and said head to the back and didn't seat us, we had to ask for drink menus and they legit brought one, to one table, for our party of 15 people... so we each got to ask for more and they brought a few more out after awhile... Chip baskets & salsa were constantly empty, along with our drinks... (we had a 3 baskets for our 15 person party size and when we asked for more, again they brought them one at a time)... at the end of the night, we had to get up and ask for the check, the server had me wait for her to close out another table and take them their check, and then came back and printed ours. I would NOT recommend this place, that's a BIG NO. It was a mess, two thumbs down. And if sucks cause there was so much potential... but the young lady was quite clear she could care less... as her tip was already included due to our party size, so she didn't need to work for anything in her mind... what a trainwreck. Took our order and we received our food 30 min later. We were told the plates were hot. Mine was cold so I'm assuming it sat in kit he. For a while. This place is a vibe!! It is very cool inside. Surprisingly lots of seatings. They give you yummy chips and salsa.. and yes, the salsa is good! The menu is super good as well. I was deciding between two items. I ended up choosing the chipotle enchiladas and I was not disappointed!! I'm really weird about my chicken.. if I get a chewy piece I'm like done. We met with our good friends here for late lunch. It was everyone's first time which was good because no one knew what to expect. We got there at around 230pm and there were several tables that were occupied. We got seated right away and ordered our drinks and food. I ordered 2 flautas (Carne asada) from their Ala carte menu. My boyfriend ordered the wet burrito (pollo). I was expecting a small flauta but here at Tesoro the flautas are HUGE. I should have ordered just one. My order came with green sauce, Pico de Gallo, sour cream and guacamole on top. My order was flavorful and had the right balance of everything. My boyfriend said that his food was good too. The serving was a lot as well. The prices here are reasonable. The service is superb. I forgot our server's name but she went above and beyond and made sure that we had everything we need. We came to this restaurant yesterday for dinner we were told we could sit in the bar area. It was open seating. We sat in the bar area at a table a waitress came over and told us that we had an hour and a half because they had a big party that was gonna sit in the tables. We said OK we'll be out of here before the hour then a second waitress came over and said no that we had to leave because if the party came early, the tables wouldn't be available for the party miscommunication between two waitresses so we got up and we decided to go to the dining area we had dinner there. We picked this place because it got lots of stars on yelp. You cannot blame a place for the strip mall that it is located in. That's on the ownership of the building, but we almost wanted to keep going. The outside of the restaurant is the best thing for entire strip mall, and that's the end of my positive review of this restaurant. Flies flies flies, we had to fight them the entire time. The staff walked around like they were not bothered by them. We had not ordered and had to constantly shoo them away, should have gave us clue to leave. The Black Diamond Margarita is one the worst over priced drinks I've had in a long time. When the waiter came and asked me if I liked the drink I told him it was terrible but I drank i anyways as it was so expensive. When the waiter asked me did I want something different, I asked for a beer since they were not replacing the drink complimentary. I will say that the Black Diamond Margarita was tasty , like a soda, but you could not taste the Don Julio. I thought the black salt made it a sexy drink and will find some of that to use on my drinks. I wanted to order the crab enchiladas, I asked the waiter if it was imitation and he said he thought that it was. So I ordered the Alaskan enchiladas with shrimp and green sauce. I meant to order the black beans but he never asked if I wanted something different so I did not want to deviate from the menu. My shrimp was slightly chewy and some had the tails on! Not a great way to eat an enchilada when you have to pull food out of your moth to take tails off the shrimp. My husband ordered two steak enchiladas with red sauce and one chicken enchilada with green sauce again he wanted black beans it was never asked for an option. Said it was good but portions was too small. Overall the aesthetics is very nice bathrooms are fairly clean and staff is very friendly. I love love love Mexican food as much as I love fried chicken and do not mind traveling to have something worth the drive. This was not worth the drive. read more
