Baked beans were a little sweet for my taste, but still good. Coleslaw is also sweet, but it's flavorful. Really enjoyed the jalapeño cornbread; again it's slightly sweet but also has the jalapeño spice. They have three BBQ sauces available - sweet, spicy and Carolina mustard based. I found the spicy to be my favorite. It's a food truck so there's no indoor seating but they do have some covered picnic tables (the breeze helps but keep the temperature in mind when visiting). With all the food being ready ahead of time, it doesn't take long to get your food. The lady taking orders at the food truck window was very pleasant and delivers your food to the table if you're eating there. Getting a plate or two to take home is also a popular option. Definitely give them a try if you're passing by and like BBQ.

However, every now and again you come across one it is so good. You have to let everyone know. The sausage was flavorful, the brisket was tender and juicy, and the chicken was smoked to perfection. The green beans and coleslaw were both nice additions, but they were beat out by the jalapeño cornbread.. It was moist, sweet, but just a hint of spice to live in it up. I enjoyed every last bite and was left wanting more. I will have to stop in the next time I am through and try some more options off their menu. If you were in Key Largo and looking to have something delivered, I highly suggest you look up Mike's.

The food here was very good. See below why I took off one star…read more I'd read about this place. It's off the main highway. It looks a bit ramshackle from the outside. But it is worth the detour. We sat at the bar, inside, with a view of the kitchen and cook, but I'd recommend sitting outside if it's not too hot and weather permits. That's a much better view. We started with their fried asparagus appetizer. The stalks were quite thin, and the portion small, but what we had was delicious. Especially tasty when dipped in the horseradish sauce. I'd get this again! After that we shared their fish dish. Two scoops on a plate with chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, and chopped green pepper. The cutest heart shaped crackers came with the dip. We had leftover dip so we took it home with us (in our cooler). We enjoyed it on toast later on. So the very good? The food. The not so good? The kitchen looked grungy and the ladies room was a mess. Would we come here again? Yes, but we'd sit outside.

Gravel parking lot is shared by other marine businesses but easily accessible. We decided to eat inside at the bar. A friendly greeting and menus delivered. I chose a draft beer to go with whatever we decided to share. We had an order of their fried Asparagus which had a sweet horse radish dipping sauce and was great. Next up was the in house smoked fish dip, two large generous scoops, crackers, diced green bell peppers. Tomatoes and onions. A tasty combination. Rustic atmosphere and smiling bartender makes you feel at home. If you sit at the bar, just try not to look into the kitchen.

The place is small and we sat at the bar. It's a cool, dive bar vibe with memorabilia on the wall. There were only a handful of others there, but the service was slow, especially considering it wasn't very crowded. It seems like the waitress was distracted and forgot about us. Eventually, we were taken care of. We all got one of their sodas and thought h they tasted good. We tried to order their award-winning fish dip, listed on the specials board, but the waitress said they were out of chips. Ok, fine -- we said "forget it" and moved onto the main course. We all ordered some variation of the Fancy Nancy, their namesake burger. It was a good burger but not the best in Florida. Not even close. The fries were frozen and nothing to write home about. Others in our party ordered the "award-winning" potato salad, which tasted pretty good. As an aside, I ordered my burger medium well, and it was cooked as desired. Everyone else ordered their burger medium and two were very pink, more like medium rare or rare. It seems like most of their awards and accolades were earned pre-COVID. We wanted to like this local spot but I have to imagine it's not what it once was.

We were seated right away with no wait, and it had the feel of a small local restaurant instead of a tourist trap. I had the mahi mahi tacos, and my wife had the lobster and shrimp po'boy. Both were excellent, and the portions were generous. If you go, don't skip the crab and artichoke dip--it was easily the best appetizer we had on our trip. The food had that authentic Keys flavor that makes you feel like you're eating where the locals do. We sat outside on the covered patio, and the fans kept it comfortable even in the Florida heat. Prices were a little higher than some other places we visited, and our fountain drinks from the outdoor bar were a bit flat, but that's something I've noticed at a lot of outdoor bar setups. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and local charm made it well worth the stop, and we'd definitely come back.

Not sure if it's because we are a large party 10 or more, or what? Our last visit was a Sunday evening in early July . We ate outside. Waiter was good at getting water out to everyone. But when it came to drink orders we must have waited 15-20 minutes for him to take our drink orders. I had to ask him to take my appetizer order. We had to ask several times for our drinks - soft drinks- not alcoholic. They were not good at cleaning our dirty appetizer plates away after delivering dinner leaving the table crowded. I think what I found most annoying was watching our server and another server standing around while we were waiting for drinks, for order taking, for refills, etc. There was just no attention being paid to us. Maybe the guy was new? Not sure. The restaurant wasn't very busy so that wasn't the excuse. I've heard it's difficult to get good help in the Keys. Cost a lot to live here. Most commute from Homestead. Anyway- good for the food - don't expect great service. Ironically I did over tip. I was a server in college so I try to be generous.

Having arrived at 4:30pm, we were immediately shown to a table and informed about the happy hour specials. Not normally ones to drink much on vacation, my wife and I instead opted to live in the moment and enjoy the island life, especially since it was 30 degrees when we left Ohio that morning. As such, we each ordered a rum punch (pictured), while my best friend ordered a Bulliet old fashioned and his wife a house margarita. With drink orders out of the way, Deja, our absolutely delightful waitress, took our food orders: sauteed seafood combo (for my wife), backyard BBQ burger with coleslaw (for me), burger and fries (for my BFF and his wife, who -unlike us- were smart enough to save room for dessert). While waiting for our meals, we took in the ambiance of the restaurant, and wow was there a lot to take in! First off, we loved how the old Pizza Hut building had been repurposed and transformed into the embodiment of the tropical island lifestyle. From the display tables showcasing seashells and historic Florida Keys photos, to the license plate light fixtures, to the ceiling-mounted blue sky and clouds panels, to the fish hanging in front of each distinctively Pizza Hut trapezoidal window, we loved it all! When our food arrived, it looked fantastic and tasted even better. My wife described her seafood combo as being excellent, with the Caribbean lobster "almost as good as the ones we get in Maine." Likewise, her fish was fresh and delicious, while the shrimp were succulent. My burger was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was topped with expertly caramelized onions and bacon with just the right amount of crispness to it. My coleslaw side was also excellent, with the perfect balance of creaminess and zing. Our friends also said their burger and shoestring fries were fantastic. To round out our meal, each of the four of us ordered pieces of Key Lime Pie, which was some of the best I have ever had in my life (and I have eaten a lot of Key Lime Pies!)! Throughout our meal, Deja checked on us often without being overbearing, and kept the drinks flowing. All told, for 5 drinks, 3 entrées with sides, and 4 slices of Key Lime Pie, our bill before tax, tip, and credit card surcharge was $163.93. Considering the excellent food and outstanding service we received, the four of us universally agreed it was well worth the price! Pros: outstanding service, fantastic flavours, great atmosphere, and the 2-for-1 drinks during happy hour were a great deal! Cons: none! Overall we rate Mrs. Mac's Kitchen as being Excellent and cannot wait to go back!

Not like, they didn't wipe it down, but more like it had never seen a deep clean and stuff just kept accumulating. I had the shrimp and corn chowder. It was very watery. We enjoyed the desserts. I'm not sure if I would come back though. I'm just wondering if the whole restaurant is dirty like our table.
