While in town for the weekend, a local recommended this sandwich shop. While online notes say they serve breakfast they don't do this any longer, but they do make their delicious sub sandwiches from open until close. The staff are friendly and the service is quick. I was listening to my police scanner yesterday and heard that the Monroe County Sheriff's at the Overseas Highway checkpoint were getting Meat Ball Parm submarine sandwiches for lunch. Well deserved! Shortly thereafter I heard one of the Deputies radio back asking for the rest of the Meat Ball submarines to be cut in half. Hearing this really perked my interest! I couldn't resist and called in an order. The Meat Ball Parm sub is delicious! My wife could only finish one half of her sub. Two smaller kids could easily share one submarine. The bread is local, oh so soft, fresh and toasted. We are now planning on having Avenue Subs for dinner tonight. I've got my eye on the Italian Combo. I called here late on a Thursday to get sandwiches for our fishing trip the next morning. The owner was very helpful and patient on the phone with my order. We asked for the condiments and other trimmings on the side so the bread would not be soggy. When I arrived at the shop, the sandwiches were wrapped separately and the trimming, condiments and napkins were placed on a waterproof styrofoam container. He even asked what we were fishing for and threw in a couple cookies while wishing us good luck. The next day the sandwiches were a lifesaver. The was he had them packaged kept them from getting wet in the cooler and they tasted awesome. Great food and great customer service, definitely recommend. read more

One of the best Tuna sandwiches I have had in a long time. Their bread is fantastic and the sandwiches are really big. All that being said, I'd go out of my way to grab a sandwich from avenue. You can get to them from either side of the Overseas Hwy. two sandwiches are four meals. And your not eating this in the car, its a two hand rating. read more

I've lived in the keys for 2 years and I stopped by Avenue yesterday for the first time. This place is a hidden Gem. Amazing sandwich and even better customer service. When the owner or manager found out it was my first visit he threw in a free cookie just because. It's really nice to see an affordable sandwich and great customer service. Excellent place for subs with very friendly staff. It seemed to the place where locals go. The owner seems to know so customers that were coming in by name or order. They were busy even for it being "slow season" so I'd suggest calling your order ahead of time. Even with me not calling ahead I did it have to wait too long. We got the meatball parm sub and the baked beef sub. Both were hot and delicious. The only size the have is 12" so come with your appetite or save for later. One suggestion if I could would be to add a few more selections on the menu or have 1 or 2 daily specials. The menu was more limited than other sandwich places but was still great. The cookies were a nice treat too. Definitely worth 5 stars!! read more

Great sub shop in Key Largo. We had a reservation to go snorkeling and didn't have a lot of time to sit for lunch so we found Avenue to grab some sandwiches on our way. We tried the turkey and the Italian. The order came out 5 minutes after we got there. Both subs were huge- I mean over flowing with meat and veggies, and the bread was nice a dnd fresh.
