We were greeted on arrival in spite of the restaurant being incredibly busy. The dining area was beautifully appointed with bright colorful and COMFORTABLE seating. So nice to easily get in and out of a booth! Absolutely amazing food! I had a Carnitas and shrimp fajita- absolutely delicious. Shrimp was perfect- not over cooked but incredibly sweet & tender. My DH had a combo plate. Neither of us were able to finish so we will enjoy the leftovers today! The flan was an added delight! All I can say is we waited far too long to find our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Anderson! They have so many more options to try on the menu so we are going back! read more

This new Mexican restaurant is next to the Anderson University campus. It's just off of Scatterfield Road. It's definitely worth a visit. The place is clean and airy, and can accommodate a large group. I tried the enchiladas that were covered in a brown enchilada sauce. I'm used to red sauce, but this brown sauce had a nice spice to it and was very tasty. My daughter had the chicken and chorizo tacos which is one of her favorites (she's a student at Anderson). My wife had enchiladas with grilled chicken and a cheese sauce that she enjoyed. The service is very friendly and fast although it was not a busy time of the day. My rating includes their customer service, which seriously impacted by this decision. First of all, they cook really great food. I absolutely love their menu. Secondly, their salsa tastes like crap. I'd find plenty other Mexican restaurants that would serve better salsa than theirs. But their food is really good for me to overlook this minor part. Thirdly, their phone service is really lousy. They really need to improve their phone connection somehow. They also were rude occasionally, but I'm not quite sure why it happen. It could be because English may not be their primary language or that their phone service is really choppy that it got disconnected several times. It can be frustrating to me. I am a Native Houstonian. When I am in Anderson Indiana, I eat at La Nueva Charreada. I had a good impression on my first visit. I asked for Verde Sauce, and they know what I was talking about. I nearly always get something different from the menu each time I visit. They don't take short cuts when they prepare the food, and it always comes out so good. I can only hope they are able to have the dinning room open on my next visit. read more

I have gone here dozens of times over the past 3 or 4 years. I love the guacamole, it is not too far in any flavor direction. The beans are vegetarian which is a great thing to put on their menu as most places do not use vegetarian beans. I believe the rice does have chicken broth but the vegetarian options are plentiful. I do go to other mexican restaurants from time to time but La Nueva Charreada is my go to and the restaurant to which I compare all others. The waiters are friendly and attentive. It's close to the nearby university, so there is a good-sized lunch crowd, but not overcrowded. I ordered the Fajita Jalisco. For Anderson University in close proximity, I hope they take note. While this wasn't the cleanest table I have dined upon, my fajita came out sizzling and properly tasty. For a college town, I find this a good place, but with my experience, I find it mediocre. The service was great, bit cleanliness needs to be more up to par. read more

They really need more help or better help. Took us 15 minutes for someone to come over to us to even get our drink order. The food was good, but the portions aren't that big. It doesn't take a lot for me to get full, but I left still hungry. It felt more like a portion for a small child. read more

This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had ! The salsa tasted very blan and looked like tomato juice with cinnamon in it yuck! My favorite in the Anderson area, this restaurant has an exceptional staff, delicious food, and it is clean. I highly recommend it. Because they have different cooks, the food is not always the most consistent, but it is always good. They are very good to replace/correct anything if you have an issue, and their cheese dip is the best. Mild salsa, usually, and the mildest (yummiest) cheese dip I've tried. Over 12 years & 3 different locations, we have become friends with many of the servers, and we know each other by name. It's super fast for a lunch hour during the work day, I always get there & back to my downtown office and still have time to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch. Busiest on Sundays after church and Friday nights, and during special events (Colts Camp, evening events at Anderson University) but still great quality. Their sodas taste good too, and the water is cold from the machine, so it tastes better (doesn't melt down the ice so fast). Parking lot has plenty of space even for the busy days, but I have seen it filled to the max inside. read more
