The food portions are a rip off. We paid almost $20 for steak and shrimp nachos and most of it was chips, lettuce, BELL PEPPER and onion. I have never in my life seen nachos made like this... when we brought it to the waiters attention we were told everything is "proportioned" So you're telling me you rip everybody off like this? They're paying for the meat not a bell pepper. We will not be back and I will be disputing this on my card. This was a complete waste of money and time. read more

Let's start with the good. The team was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately my call the previous evening and discussion with the manager about food safety/prep for my wife with Celiac disease turned out to be Very inaccurate. Nothing was safe for her except a street taco. Our poor server was triple sat and service was Very slow. Unfortunately the only person who seemed to care was our server. The portions were small, but the flavor of the food was good. Fortunately we get to choose where we eat, and we definitely won't be eating here again. We were driving through Anderson when working in the area and decided to stop for lunch. I ordered from the lunch menu, a special that was an enchilada, rice, and beans. My coworker ordered street tacos. Our food arrived very quickly, before we had much time to fill up on chips and salsa, which was good. We both enjoyed our meals, good basic Mexican food. Food is good.. nice portion size and plenty of chips and salsa... but their take out needs some work. They just stacked all items on top of each other and the lids are not strong so by the time I got home, half the sauces and juices had leaked into the bag and all over the other containers. It was s mess! At least they did the chorizo queso right by covering it in tin foil first then the lid.. it still leaked but was also the only thing in the bag so no biggie! read more

We drove out to Anderson for a trip to Good's for my parents' annual "get-chocolate-for-all-of-our-cowokers" trip and figured we'd stop for lunch as well. We really loved the Nile--only to find out it had closed down, so the backup plan was Lindo Michoacán. I was excited to try it, but the restaurant gods really were just not on our side that day, because they were closed for multiple days for Thanksgiving. So, we ended up eating at Riviera Maya. Had we wanted the same old blah Mexican food, we could have just gotten it at home before driving over. Sigh. I'm sure I've said this about a lot of Mexican places over the years, but this was run-of-the-mill Indiana Mexican food. Y'all know what I mean. I got huevos con chorizo, hoping to drown my sorrow for the loss of the Nile in some good ol' breakfast grease. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Next to no flavor. Beans were not ideal either, and the rice, which is usually the savior even at a "meh" Mexican restaurant, was dry as could be. Redeeming qualities: it was lightning fast, and my mom really enjoyed her chile relleno. Also, the salsa wasn't bad. I'm sure if I lived in Anderson I'd find myself here, but I'm not gonna lie and rate this any higher than "meh, I've experienced better," because I certainly have. read more

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in East Central Indiana - and we lived in Tucson, Arizona for 40 years. Service is efficient and friendly, menu is diverse and creative, preparation is, for the most part, authentic, margaritas are fresh and not to be trifled with. The space is nicely decorated, if a bit cliched. If only they would introduce volcanic rock bowls. We do miss those. read more

My wife and I the beautiful Anna, I've been looking for decent Mexican food since we left South Florida! We've been here in there just several different restaurants and they're great but they were not super great. Then we found out about this nifty place called Riviera Maya I'll be at this one is in the center of town and not the one on Scatterfield Road, this one is on Meridian Street! There is a big difference between the both of these restaurants but I assure you if you can find your way downtown Anderson on Meridian Street a very good Mexican meal Our meal started with of course starter and our typical virgin strawberry daiquiris! We had they're fabulous salsa and we ordered a large bowl of cheese dip. That too was fantastic! My wife ordered a mixed burrito with rice and then wonderful little salad there was also a small portion of refried beans with cheese and something none of us know exactly what it was but it fantastic her burrito had beef seafood shrimp huge variety of items with it in and once topped with a lot of cheese and copious amounts of beautiful and bright colored vegetables. I ordered a beautiful chimichanga which was the large one by the way and refried beans and cheese and very especial a tease of the house and of course a beautiful yellow rice to complement it. We had decided to come here on a date. we are not too old to have dates! Our waiter's name was Raul and he was absolutely on point he had several tables through the restaurant which is not small at all and he gave us absolutely wonderful service we never waited for anything. By the way he also was a gentleman in every way shape and form when everything was said and done we have to tell you not only was the food excellent but so was our service. I want to recommend also if you're thinking of having a party this place certainly has the rooms and while we were there we saw a fantastic load of people coming in! and, I realized it was the birthday party no I don't want to say anything negative about the one on Scatterfield Road but I do believe if you were going to have a party, you would want to come to a place as spacious and interesting is this I know because with my wife and I would is I was overly shocked at the size and the interior decorating of this place exclamation! My wonderful and that is a profound artist she has a very strong musical background when we were there eating they were playing Latin children songs that were just adorable! you don't get that anywhere else! let me not leave you without saying to you, Again, Meridians St., Riviera Maya rocks excellent service supremely excellent food and absolutely gorgeous interior as well as fantastic staff. I can usually tell a good Mexican place by the salsa they serve. The salsa here was clearly mass produced. That being said, the chicken burrito I had was pretty good and came out from the kitchen so fast I thought I must be getting someone else's order. Overall, a decent place to eat. I judge all Mexican restaurants on comparison to my favorite, which is simply a room with a few tables in the back of a Mexican grocery. No decor, just the best food, salsa and guac ever. We got a decent meal here :) You know, it's Americanized, as is most Mexican food in central Indiana. That's not to say it's a bad meal, but after a fair amount of travel I've learned to lower my expectations a bit when I'm back home. Now, all that said...the chips and salsa were good. The Armando's Pizza was good, as was the Carne Asada. As far as food, none of it knocked our socks off, but it was all satisfying and filling. I WILL say the service, from the host to our server, to paying the bill, was stellar and they seemed like they really appreciated our business. That goes a long way these days! read more

Awful experience. Not even bothering with a full review. No comparison to the one on 116th the new location at 96th. Awful chips and salsa. 10$ for mediocre queso. My quesadilla mazatlan had undercooked veggies and flavorless beef. Best part about it was the tortilla. Our third requested chips and salsa to go for herself...$1.99 on the bill. Haha. Ordered to go & were told 10-15 minutes. We were there in less than 5 minutes & the food was ready & screaming hot. Like you couldn't touch the bottom of the bag & the plastic bag melted to the aluminum foil to go container. Ummm, can you say microwave food ? I get making bulk beans & rice in advance. But chicken fajitas, enchiladas & Chile rellano should not be microwaved to the point of a rubber texture. Nice decor & very friendly staff. But neither of those would overcome the terrible texture of the food from over microwaving. Might try them again & eat in, but wouldn't ever get to go again. read more

I was looking forward to my visit to this restaurant based on the reviews, unfortunately, I've had much better. The server approached and I asked him what he recommended, "Everything is good," he said. Finally, he recommended the Carne Asada. I was enjoying the chips which were fresh and crispy, then my food arrived. The meat was really, really tough, and not tasty at all. The beans were not very good either. Stopped in for lunch this week, very beautiful decor and the staff are friendly and nice. Of course the food is not exactly authentic but it was still good. It is more made for the American palate. But like I said it was still good I got the chicken taco salad and it was definitely filling. Ate here for the first time last night. It's now called Riviera Maya, although it's been under the same ownership and same location for years. The service is good and the food is even better. Although I wouldn't consider this authentic Mexican food, it was still very good. Served hot and fresh and wasn't cold and had a good temperature. The attention to detail in the architecture, all the way down to the chairs and booths is amazing. Very colorful, airy, open and bright in this restaurant. 4th time..... I've always sat in the bar, because sitting in the family dining is just not my thing. Tonight with my fourth time there. You have to demand service, menus, drink orders, silverware, the employees walk through the bar and into the back and just stare at you. Nobody comes to ask you if you need anything if you've been waited on do you need water do you need a drink. We had to keep asking for things over and over again. Once they bring you something they never come back to check to see if you need anything else. We had to get up and ask for to-go boxes and for our checks. The only reason I went 1/4 time is because that's where my friends wanted to go. I let them know my first three visits were absolutely horrible. The fourth was no better. Delicious. I have been searching for our Mexican place, and sadly, Noblesville doesn't offer a lot. (I really wish I could say that El Camino Real was a good place, because the people who work there are SO nice, but it was rather bland...) I'd heard about Real Hacienda from a friend at work, and we decided to go out of our way to Anderson one Sunday afternoon, and give it a try! I am SO glad we did. Definitely worth the 1/2 hour drive! The building is beautiful inside...great ambiance. I loved the colorful chairs and the high ceilings. It was really fun. And I can't wait to come back when it gets a little warmer and we can eat outside on the patio! On to the food... Chips and salsa were good...the salsa especially. Didn't taste like someone poured it out of a can or a jar...it was perfect - not runny, and the tomato chunks were big. I just hate runny salsa that you can't even scoop up...this salsa is very scoop-able. My husband and I both had huge Cokes (seriously, the Cokes are enormous!!!), and the combination that included a taco, an enchilada, and a chalupa. I ordered my enchilada with cheese sauce instead of red sauce, because I'm a little cheese-obsessed. :) He ordered a side of rice and beans, not realizing how large the portion of beans would be on his chalupa...and I ordered a side of sour cream. (I really like dairy, okay?) The food was HOT, and very flavorful. I just about ate everything on my plate, and the side of sour cream was more like a little BOWL of it, instead of a tiny dollop that most places give you. (Granted, I only used about 1/4 of it, but it was nice to have the option of using more if I'd wanted it.) This place uses the real white cheese...mmmm!!! The lettuce and guacamole were noticeably fresh. The meat was seasoned to perfection. I kept saying to my husband as I stuffed my face, "I'm so in love with this place!!!" I love to eat, and I love authentic Mexican food...so I was in heaven. :) Bonus: a friend of mine told me that the owners are opening another restaurant called Riviera Maya, on East 116th St in Fishers! We'll definitely go once it opens since it would be much closer to home. But until then, I'll gladly make the drive to Anderson to enjoy a delicious meal @ Real Hacienda! I love going to Real Hac when I'm home for the holidays. The queso oxaca is the best queso I've had while in Indiana (it's the only one that's not the fake yellow nacho cheese). They do not skimp on portions, and the food is always delicious. Arroz con pollo (chicken with rice and queso oxaca) is a big hit with my friends. The carne asada and burritos are also very good. The guacamole is thick with chunks of avocado (not thinned down with sour cream like other guacamoles). Be sure not to fill up too much on the chips and salsa or you won't be able to finish your dinner! read more

The decor was really nice and the place is really clean. I really appreciated the fresh chips. The food was good, a little better quality than most Mexican restaurants and our server was very attentive. She even asked when she first came to our table, "if we'd been waiting long" which we hadn't. I was surprised that you pay at the register. That was the biggest downfall of this place. The three male hosts were rude and acted if they were doing me a favor to take my money. It was weird...it was almost bigoted and I was being snubbed because I was an Anglo. One of the first places I tried in 09 when I moved here. The locals love it. I'm from Denver and having Mexican food from farther out west, I just don't see it. I don't think the locals have ever had good Mexican food. I can make better Mexican food at home and since I've lived out here this is what I have done. I prefer Taco Bell a little bit over the Real Hacienda, but TB isn't real Mexican food . To each their own but this place isn't for me. read more
