Riviera Maya has several locations but this is the first one I had ever visited. We went around the dinner hour on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait for seating. We took a booth in the bar, this was convenient for us as it was a date night with no kids. The atmosphere is very festive and alive - with bright and cheery decor and carved wood features found in a typical Mexican restaurant. The food was decently priced, especially their combo meals (under $8). I got the #19 and it was pretty good and very filling! I couldn't even finish the entire thing, it came with a enchilada, burrito, chapula and avocado/lettuce/tomato. Honestly not much to say about this restaurant. It is just a basic Mexican restaurant. Had the typical meals and alcoholic beverages that you can get at any Mexican restaurant. I went there with family for my brother's birthday at his request. The waiter was not the best. He was slightly rude but then tried to play it off as a joke. I am a very easy going person and take things very lightly but he definitely was rude. If you had any questions, he almost made you feel dumb. Hard to explain, it was just a little frustrating. I started a review quite a while back and didn't finish it, so we're going to give it another try. My original rating was 3 stars, so they must have been having an off day. When we returned on this day, we had a great experience. Wonderful staff - friendly and engaging. Fast service, and delicious food. Since this visit we have been back several times. We love Mexican food and the fact that they have an outdoor patio went a long way towards our return visits. The chips and salsa are always fresh and delicious. They also serve great margaritas. We went to the Maya location on 60th St. In Anderson. I ordered the chicken quessadilla which was very bland tasting. It could have used a lot more spice. My husband agreed. This Mexican bar and grill style restaurant replaced the Real Hacienda that was formerly at this location. The food is fairly similar. The prices are good and the quantity of food is more than adequate. The chips and salsa taste good, but the salsa is a little too watery for me. The service was excellent. Our server was courteous, fast, and made sure our drinks were filled. The service was the best part of our experience and why I gave the restaurant three stars instead of two. All I can tell you is I am used to much better Mexican food or I am much more used to clean restaurant and a beautiful presentation I ordered the "tamales supreme" Anna had a combination plater with a taco a enchilada and a tamale,It was interesting because the food was brought out so in courses like at first she thought they had left off one of her items from a platter and then about five minutes later another wave of stuff came out and they had brought her out her taco. She and I both agree that the food was delicious it wasn't bad, but it just was a little sceevy dirty inside. I am not a person who gives a negative rating as I understand it's very important to make a living to everyone that works! I am only telling you I won't be back there. If I am eating Mexican it will be in a place that's lively well it using excellent table settings at least minimum of great things need to be employed and you should be able to see your food! We're in Anderson on a fairly regular basis, and this is one of the restaurants we frequent when we're there at mealtime. Service is always prompt and friendly, and the food, while perhaps not 5 star, is well above average for Americanized Mexican food. The spice level is a little higher than many like-minded restaurants, and that is just fine with me. The Salsa has a great taste, but in texture, it's a little too runny for me...I do prefer a bit more thicker Salsa, but I suppose that's a relatively minor complaint. Serving sizes are pretty darn large, certainly enough for the heartiest appetite. They've earned our repeat business. read more

This restaurant gets our order wrong about 50% of the time. I imagine a large part is that many of the staff don't speak English well, so I call back until an English speaker answers. When we say "beans on the side" they put it on one side of the plate instead of separate. My wife is allergic to beans so that won't do. We have learned to be very specific. For example, "Pollo Loco Real" has cheese sauce on the piece of chicken breast. So we are sure to say the name of the dish then reinforce that with "that means that there will be cheese sauce, queso, on top of the chicken, right?" The waiters are too busy to listen. Zip, zip. They need to take a moment to understand instead of assuming. The food is spicy, which is expected in a Mexican restaurant, but they should be able to cook it with less spice for sensitive eaters. I wouldn't complain if this were the only time they messed up an order, but it happens often. read more

This is a pretty good Tex Mex place conveniently located just off I-69 in Anderson. It is in a fairly concentrated commercial stretch. The facility is fine with the expected decor though it has the look of a cookie cutter chain. I think I saw something about the fact that it used to be a Chi Chi's and, if so, that would explain a lot. The seating area is certainly spacious. I came in on a Thursday evening at around 8:30 PM and had no problem being seated quickly. My server waited on me right away and provided excellent service during my visit. The menu offered the typical fare found in a Tex Mex place. I chose the Chili Colorado, which was quite good. It had a nice kick which is so often missing in dishes served in places such as these. The prices were very reasonable as my total cost including drink, tax and tip was $14. This was a good deal, especially considering the fact that I had enough leftover to take home for a future lunch. In all, if you are in the area, this is a good choice if you like Tex Mex. read more

Typical Mexican restaurant in Central Indiana. Food was okay but the margaritas were basically margarita mix and a little hint of tequila. After drinking her margarita, my 89 year old mother said that the margaritas were weak and she rarely drinks anything! My parents came in from out of town and I decided to meet up with them at this restaurant since I have dined him a few other times before. The server who was not busy rolled his eyes at my mother who did not order timely enough for him (who was discussing with me a serious matter). I have been here twice only to hear two of the same younger women cussing in Spanish (one incident with my daughters nearby). My fiancé was eating at the bar once and thank goodness he was done with his meal because a cockroach seemed to come out of nowhere under his plate. Yuck! The service was terrible. The chips were stale. Food was a watery mess. One would think if a server took out two dishes that were barely touched, he might ask how everything was. Generally speaking, I have never been very fond of tex-mex restaurants, as the ones in east central Indiana rarely bother to add any flavor or taste to their food. However, this place has been the exception. The food is actually spiced well and flavored (compared to other local tex-mex restaurants) and the service was prompt, if not very personable.
