"I've got this need I just can't control and it's A drivin' me insane, I can't take it Because I'm hungry for those good things, baby Hungry through and through" (Hungry - Paul Revere And The Raiders) So when you are at the beach, or the pool, and the heat is getting to you, your lips are parched, or you have the stomach rumbles, this is the place to satisfy your hunger or thirst. These guys work hard, they fill all the food and drink orders for the runners who walk around the beach and pool taking your orders. They have a small sitdown area for outdoor dining- maybe 15 tables or two. The tables are under thatched roofs and the kitchen-bar area looks like a big Tiki hut. We had chips and guacamole, a shrimp and pesto flatbread, a grilled Mahi Mahi, and for me a Shrimp Mille Feuille (shrimp salad with mango, pineapple in a red curry sauce). The shrimp dish was delicious- cold, plump shrimp pieces tossed in a terrific creamy curry mayo with diced mango and pineapple, served with crispy won tons. This is a Royal Service place, so you need the right kind of wrist band to gain access.

This restaurant is exclusive to Royal Service guests. It is open for breakfast and lunch! The staff is fantastic, just like in the rest of the hotel. One of the most wonderful things about this restaurant is that it is very close to the beach and the water. The view is amazing. It is very windy so enjoying a meal is nice and refreshing. Something to keep in mind is that, you can very quickly get burnt without noticing if you have a table in the sun as there is lots of wind and freshness, it is almost unnoticeable. Meanwhile, the food is great for breakfast and lunch. I recommend the Eggs Benedict, French Toast and Omelette for breakfast. For lunch we loved Grilled Shrimp, Shrimp/Asparagus Tempura, Seafood Cocktail and Grouper. Baba Ganoush, Royal Burger and Chicken Baguette were good but not as mind blowing as the rest. I was not a big fan of Pappardella. It's a spaghetti type thing with a specific cheese. This was very specific to taste. Try if you are feeling adventurous!

    Churros, just like in Madrid!

This is a restaurant exclusively reserved to Royal Service guests, the exclusive section of Paradisus. It's a beachfront Palapa that serves breakfast and lunch only. Service is excellent as it is the case for all Royal Service amenities. Being that this is a beach/pool grill, the menu is limited, but everything is delicious and high quality. The breakfast menu consists of fruits, cereals, yogurts, breads, and eggs every style. Lunch menu consists of grilled fish, steaks, and a variety of sandwiches. Pretty straight forward stuff, but the service and the quality of the ingredients make it worthwhile.

We loved this outdoor restaurant right outside the Royal Service side of the Paradisus hotel, so much so that we were here every day of our trip! The food was superb, wait staff AMAZING and the view was breathtaking. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff- my son caught a Mahi on our deep sea fishing trip and we brought it back to these guys and they grilled it for us! It was delicious and they prepared it with sides of garlic mashed potatoes, cilantro rice, guacamole, and fresh pico. The chef, Christian, came out to greet us at the table and we all thanked him for preparing such a wonderful meal for us. The last day that we were there, Christian prepared a full spread with marinated red snapper for our large group- the flavor was amazing- limes, tomatoes, peppers and a spicy red sauce on the side- the snapper was "melt in your mouth" delicious! This was not on the menu but specially prepared for us so when I say that these guys went above and beyond for us, I'm not exaggerating! Phenomenal! (Yes, we tried crispy grasshoppers also- I wouldn't do it again but it was a fun/unusual experience with friends and family! "Tastes like chicken!") Anything we wanted, we got! Extremely attentive, very generous, super friendly and fun! Just a few of the wait staff that I cannot forget to "thank" once again- Moises (always made sure our phones were charged), Jorge, Alejandro, Valeria, Rafael, Josue and Omar! This is a SUPER team of people and made our stay, and food experience, "out of this world."

So Yummy! This little restaurant was strictly for Royal Service guests, and was a great alternative to the buffet for breakfast and lunch. We has breakfast once out on the open air patio overlooking the beautiful turquoise waters and rising sun. It was an amazing way to start our day. You are immediately greeted by a waiter and attended to. Your choices are limited but do offer a small variety, which included made to order omelets, eggs benedict, and fresh fruit plates among other things. Lunch from La Palapa was even better as you could have this either at one of the tables with amazing views of the beach area, or have it brought right to your bali bed or beach chairs around the pool or on the sand. Lunch menu offered more variety including fresh salads, burgers, shrimp wontons, the most tender skirt steak of our lives, and more. Bonus, the guacamole was fresh and always available. Food was good, and service friendly. The only con was that it did take a while to receive your order, but with views like these who cares about the wait.

Excellent views of that turquoise beach.

Royal service exclusive restaurant but the best food for breakfast and lunch hands down. I highly suggest the chilaquiles aand churros for breakfast and the shrimp platter for lunch!

Greasy meat, cold & stale fries, took forever to serve us. But hey, if you got all inclusive then go for it. There aren't many places available during lunch time, especially if the buffet is closed while they switch from breakfast to lunch. Of course it's royal service so you probably won't have to wait long to be seated, plenty of seating with a great view of the ocean.

Definitely try the chips with guacamole and pico de gallo! Got it every day while down there
    Erin P.

As an update to my previous review, I'd like to say that this quickly became our every day lunch spot. He always grabbed the burger (they were cooked better other days). I tried to change it up a bit. The Thai chicken salad was good but small. I really enjoyed the chicken wrap but ask for Pico de gallo to amp up the flavor. The French fries were consistently delicious. Guacamole was amazing every day. No matter if you want to eat at their tables, a cabana, or down at the beach, these guys will bring you anything with a smile. As I said previously, I tried more drinks (for science). The pina colada was very milky and sweet. I strongly suggest a peach or mango daiquiri. The strawberry margarita is much sweeter than the mango. Electric lemonade was delicious but also very sweet. Just ask and you shall receive. Whether you want frozen drinks or basic cocktails they will make them well. Just don't ask for ginger ale. They don't have it. They'll just mix coke and sprite.

All-in-all it was worth the inconvenience. Very eclectic menu, warm atmosphere and outstanding service. I started withe the Mango-Tamarind: Lettuce, Indian walnut, mango, blueberries, Cotija cheese, mango-habanero dressing and tamarind billet. Unique and tasty. "Swiss Chicken Enchiladas" for the main course was not what you get at a local Mexican joint -- Four tortillas stuffed with chicken, bathed in a creamy tomatillo sauce with melted cheese and a base of refried black beans. This was a 5-star dish! I couldn't resist ordering a side dish though I didn't need to because the enchiladas were really enough, so I indulged myself with fries: these were not your run of the mill French fries. Porfirio's Potatoes -- French fries with chipotle pepper aioli, parmesan cheese and parsley. Finally, if you like ice cream I highly recommend that you order BOTH offerings: 1) "ICE CREAM TASTING" - Strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream from Metate, marzipan ice cream and vanilla from Papantla. Served with grated coconut, chocolate grain, M&M's, Oreo cookies and ice cream cones; and, 2) "PORFIRIO'S MOLECULAR ICE CREAM" - served with cajeta Worcestershire sauce in an ice cream cone. I took some notes and this is what I thought of the dishes. Xoajacan Imoladas - The mole is perfection. The flautas, superb. Everything in this plate is a symphony of what I would expect from Xoajaca. 9.5/10 Barbacoa Bonemarrow - Barcacoa is on point. The Marrow is Sublime. Together with the accompaniments is superb. I dream of Marrow everyday. This is a 10/10 Yellow fin Tosatadas - Superb!!! One of the best tostadas I have ever had. The microgreens, the sauce and the square Tostada works well all together. 8.8/10 Salmon - Cooked perfectly. The corn is a great accompaniment. The fish is impeccably seasoned. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak. Needs a little more zip, some citrus or vinegar would give this salad some justice. Its a little uninspired 7/10 Service is impeccable and attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.

But, after debating and reading some reviews, we decided to call (at 7pm) and see if La Buena Barra had any open tables for 7:30. Since Cancún dinner culture generally ramps up after 8, we were in luck and headed to the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the host team and escorted promptly to a great table outside, overlooking the lagoon and the last bits of sunset in the sky. The ambience of La Buena Barra is amazing, great lighting, ceiling fans to keep a light breeze going, and music that is loud enough to prevent you from hearing conversations at other tables, but still allowed us to talk just fine. Our servers Jonathan and Estefany were the sweetest and most attentive that we experienced during our trip! Excellent food recommendations, even advising against getting a second dessert (due to their size) instead of just letting us spend more money there. Absolutely worthy of 5 star service! Ok- the food: very good, probably some of the more distinct flavors we enjoyed in Cancun. Also a very unique selection of cocktails, delivered in all sorts of unique glasses. BUT truly the best thing we ate was the corn ice cream! It's molded ice cream that looks exactly like an ear of white corn with a ribbon of dulce de leche in the center- honestly the best ice cream I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Prices per person can easily exceed $1000 pesos here depending on what you get, but it's possible to enjoy the experience on a budget. We shared an appetizer (empanadas, highly recommend), shared a large entree (ribeye tacos, comes with 7), a cocktail, side of corn, and dessert- ended up being around $1200 plus tip.

Once we stepped onto the deck overlooking the lagoon, the whole experience elevated even further. The scenery was stunning, soft lights reflecting off the water, a gentle breeze, and live music drifting through the air like the perfect soundtrack to an already unforgettable night. Then came the food, each dish was its own little masterpiece. The bread service alone set the tone: warm, golden rolls with just the right touch off salt. The wedge salad followed. It was crisp, cold, and generously dressed, with smoky bacon and bright tomatoes adding all the right contrasts. The dry-aged steak was the star of the table, cooked perfectly with that deep, rich flavor only dry-aging can create. The roasted peppers and silky sauce on the side made every bite feel intentional. The octopus was another standout, tender, beautifully charred, and plated with a vibrant puree that balanced the dish with a touch of sweetness. One of the best plates we had. The table got more entrees since there were 8 of us but didn't get pictures. Sea brass was another favorite. Even the lobster soup arrived with flair: a velvety bowl paired with a seafood-topped toast that brought texture and richness together in one elegant bite. The beef tartare with fries was classic and fresh, refined without losing its fun. Dessert turned into a full performance. The liquid-nitrogen ice cream came with swirling clouds of cold vapor, dramatic and delicious. The birthday cake arrived crowned with berries and a sparkling candle that lit up the whole table.
