My daughter absolutely enjoyed her time here at Peppertree. The staff was so welcoming during the first few weeks as we acclimated to the new schedule. Every day there was a written and verbal status report to help me know how her day went, what supplies were needed, and how she did during lunchtime and nap time. I highly recommend this daycare/preschool to anyone looking for a nurturing and supportive environment for their child. My oldest son attended a few years ago, and the entire staff showed such compassion and care, helping him grow and prepare for Kindergarten. Wanted to thank Ms. Irma and the staff at La Palma Pepper Tree for nurturing our son River and daughter Rhiannon into respectful and confident little humans. I was hoping this place would be truthful and honest when parents are having concerns. I found this place close to our other daughter's school and thought it would be more convenient to place my 9 months old daughter here. I found out this place was giving me multiple excuses (by the director and her assistant) when I asked about certain things. My little comes home sick every month. Once she's cure (about 10 days) and I take her back to the school the week following, she would then get sick again. The facility doesn't have camera's to monitor the school and anyone can enter the gate. I've seen dirty toys the kids plays with, especially those fabric toys where you can't wipe down and toddlers are stuffing them in their mouth. Below are a list of things that had happens during the 2-3 months she attended there. 1. They said I didn't pay for her tuition on one occasion and requested for me to pay. Once I showed her my bank statement with the images of the check, they then said "ohh, sorry it was a mistake". BTW, they don't give receipt for checks and only for cash. Paid for the enrollment fees with cash and they didn't have change and they said they will apply it toward the first week of the tuition. When first week came, they requested full amount and did not deduct the credit I had that I paid. I told them the credit I had, and they finally changed the fee. 2. Brought little one to school (with not rash on her bottom) and informed the teacher to watch for her pooping since she was pooing more often than usual. Picked her up from school and she had the worst diaper rash ever and took two weeks for it to clear, plus we had to pay for the weeks she wasn't attending (she never had diaper rashes ever until she attended this school). The director accused me of bringing my daughter to school with a rash bottom. What!!! 3. After dropping off my daughter, I came back to the school because I forgot something and saw there was a pacifier on my daughter's highchair which they were offering her. My daughter does NOT have or use a pacifier. Is this how she's been getting sick? Offering some other kids pacifier? The director wasn't in at the time but when I called back later, she said this never happens before and will discuss with the teachers. I'm asking her how do I know this wasn't the first time? 4. Diapers and wipes was always asked to bring more. For wipes, we brought a full (Costco size) pack and 3 days later they said they need more wipes. At home, one pack last us at least 2 weeks. 5. I used to put yogurt snacks in my little one's lunch box all the time and their daily report would say that she finished it, however one day I forgot to put a yogurt snack in her box and when I picked up the report on that day it wrote done she finished her snack. How is this possible if she didn't have one in the first place? 5. Asked about AC being on for the toddler's area and they said it's not hot and noticed the outside door was open on a hot day. Was looking to pull my daughter out but they requested 2 weeks written noticed. I kindly asked if I can take her out after 1 week noticed (even though she was there only 2 days that week) and they said they couldn't do anything (it's there "policy") and she said there's lots of parents who's waiting in line. So I then asked, well that's better that I leave so other parents can get their kids in asap, but the director doesn't understand nor give a shit about their customers. Out of the 2-3 months that my daughter was there, she's probably was there for no more than half of the time. The only good thing I liked was that Ms. Arlean and another Hispanic lady was very nurturing to all the toddlers. I just think they need to retrained and be more organized. read more

Pre-K Graduate 2018! Thank you for an amazing ceremony to all the teachers. My son was 4 years old and he started with Ms Midi, then at 5 years old with Ms Dyana. My son is a very super active boy but Ms Dyana has a system where she uses color cards for daily discipline and to my amaze this actually worked with my son. My son was assessed for Kindergarten next year and passed the assessments from learning how to write his name, knowing his alphabets and sounds, numbers, shapes, homework's , months of the year, days of the week and so much creative projects with his pictures (I always wonder what he is doing) and songs! If your looking for child care DO NOT take ur kid/kids to La Palma Pepper Tree Preschool and here is why the director (Irma) is very rude, They let people they never seen before and also not on the list to come see the children they request to see which is very illegal it doesn't matter what a person says if u have never seen them before and they are not on the list and on any paperwork they should not be able to pass the office to visit/play with kids They also didn't notify me about it I found out seeing a post on fb ,when the original girl that has worked there over 10 yrs in the baby room quit (arlene) my daughter started coming home every day with diaper rashes and even when my hrs changed to Thursdays and Fridays each day she still came home with a rash...The director would always tell me my daughter is sick when she wasn't everyone knows when babies are teething they are not only irritable but they also can get clear runny noses and rosy cheeks, when it was my daughters last day she's said "take it over there and shewed her hand at me " referring "it" as my daughter she also always changes her rules she says one thing and then goes back and changes it all the time now for the 4 yr old room before he was placed there he was in another teachers class that also worked there over 10 yrs (ms. Dyana) and they did science projects, art projects and My son was learning a lot I always saw pictures of my son having a blast in class, he was always excited to go to school and to tell me what he learned or what he did in class when I would pick him up , he also ate most of his lunch after she quit he was placed in the 5yr old room with ms Rebecca he began to come home with full lunch pales he started loosing weight and he told me the teachers don't want to open stuff for him and that he's not aloud to drink his juice during lunch time when I confronted the director about this she said " do u believe everything your son tells you" and laughed at me when I said yes and said"he's 4 he lies ", and my son would tell me every morning that he didn't like to go to school anymore since the 3 yr old teacher left I asked him why and he said because the teachers are mean and they don't do fun things anymore he also started forgetting what he learned in the 3 yr old class which was was more then he was learning in the 5yr old room and never had anything to say to me when I asked him what he learned today it's unfortunate that schools like this are still able to be up and running but they are just a heads up for anyone thinking about placing there kids here that I referred don't do it not worth ur time kids time or money . read more

Being a first time mom and having to return to work was a difficult process. It was important to find childcare that I could trust. The staff at La Palma Pepper Tree Preschool are amazing caring individuals that ensure the wellbeing of the whole child. Ms. Arlene and Ms. Maria are wonderful and so attentive to every babies needs. Ms. Irma (the director) is so accommodating to the families and has a special relationship with all the children. My son has now transitioned into the 2 year old classroom. I have worked in education for many years and I feel confident that my son in a safe loving environment. The children are always happy and clean. They truly love their teachers as shown through their respect and affection with Ms. Rebeca and Ms. Michaela. Ms Dyana is also great running the before and after school program. We are so lucky to have found La Palma PepperTree Preschool. Both my husband and I work full time so finding a good place where our kiddos (ages 1 and 3) would stay was very important. This place is the best for care, value, education, etc. My oldest started at 10 months and we felt nothing but love and care from the beginning. Our son was an early talker and we attribute this to what he was exposed to at PepperTree. They also helped potty train our older son at 2 years old which was amazing! Our younger one has been with the infant side since 2 months old and he's now 16 months. He's always happy to see the staff in the morning. I love the excursions, seasonal parties and performances they put on. I'm amazed at all they are able to do for the kids. We're moving out of state so we're very sad to leave this school. This is a great preschool/daycare. They have watched my child from diapers to kindergarten. This is more of a preschool in my opinion in which they actually teach your child. Because of peppertree my 5 year old will be ahead of her class socially, and intellectually. They even pick up kids in the nearby schools for after school supervision. We will definitely be bringing our child back during summer breaks so she can visit her friends and the teachers which I consider our extended family. If you cannot stay at home with your child, this place in my opinion is the next best thing. read more

My 2 girls have been with Peppetree over 2 1/2 years. The academics that is provided at Peppertree is exceptional. Both my children have grown socially & academically since their enrollment at Peppertree. My 5 year old just entered Kindergarten and her teacher was "Blown Away" at the knowledge she showed when they pre-tested her for placement on her academic levels. She tested in the 95th percentile. I have to say that being at Peppertree from 9am - 5pm Mon-Fri, had A LOT to do with her "Pre-Education" coming into the OC educational system. As for my 2 year old, she has been enrolled since she was a little under 18 months and she is still enrolled at Peppertree. The staff members who took care of her in the infant rooms were caring and patient. I fully entrusted my daughter's care with the staff members at Peppertree. She absolutely enjoys her time at Peppertree with other children and staff members. She is always eager to "go to school". She too has grown socially and academically. :-) NEVER have I seen inappropriate behavior from her teacher or any other staff members at Peppertree (and I DID come "unannounced" at times) On a personal note, I do not feel that ethically by professional or personal level that people should provide names of the staff members, for I believe this constitutes SLANDER. My two sons have been a part of the Peppertree preschool for the past 3 years & I couldn't be anymore happy & satisfied with the staff and the amount of love & care that they demonstrate not only to my children but to all the others as well. My oldest Son Mace amazes me with his level of vocabulary and how proper he speaks & I owe a lot of that to His Pre-K teacher. I am very sad to be parting ways with Peppertree preschool, but my son, who has been attending this school since he was one is now moving on to Kindergarten. I would just like to thank all the teachers for taking good care of him in every aspect, from loving him to teaching him educationally and teaching him respect and discipline in a good way. My boys have been going here for 2 years and we love it. After having along day of work, the last thing you want to do is homework. They do one on one homework time with the boys and have activates that the boys enjoy. Example basketball, handball, four square, baseball etc. They provide before and after school care, with transportation. This preschool is great. We have been bringing our daughter here since she was two, she now goes to another program because I moved but I still bring her here for their summer program. I don't mind driving the extra distance. My daughter had no problems learning her letters numbers and colors. When I speak to my coworkers with kids the same age and hear their frustrations about their kids not learning these basic concepts it sounds strange to me. I would have to thank Peppertree for making school enjoyable for my daughter. She loves the staff and the other students. I've had the best experience with Peppertree Preschool for the past two years. It wasn't easy to for me to place them in a daycare center, as they had been looked after by my husband and a nanny all their lives. When it came time to transition, we felt the welcoming support from Ms.Irma right away. My 4 year old son just completed his first week at Pepper Tree Preschool. It typically takes a while for him to warm up to new places and people, but he seems to be doing well and he has told me he is having great days there so far. Ms. Irma, the director, has been nothing but friendly to us. My son's teacher, Ms. Dayana, is really nice as well. My son was previously at a different preschool for 2 years and had made lots of friends and loved his teachers, but a move to the area and job change is what prompted the school change as well. I was really nervous about how my son would adjust, but he seems to be doing well! Only one day out of the whole first week he had tears at drop off. My 6 month old daughter starts here in the infant program next week. The tuition rates are affordable and the school looks very clean. I think it's a great option for those looking for childcare. They are on Summer right now so I know it's pretty typical for the program to be more play based. I am excited to see when the new "school year" starts to see what new things he learns in their pre-k curriculum. Hoping that my infant daughter enjoys being there as well! read more

I called on a Thursday and scheduled a tour for Friday morning at 9am. When I arrived, the assistant director hadn't been expecting me (whomever I had spoken to hadn't told her I guess). The facility's windows were open even though it was already in the 80s outside (the high temp was over 100 the day I visited) plus none of the windows had screens. It was pretty warm in there, although the assistant director did turn on the air and start closing the windows while we were present. The door to the office had a window with no glass in it, just paper covering the hole where glass should be. The assistant director showed us the infant area from outside of the little door that led into it. Upon requesting to go in I could see why she didn't walk us in initially. The lady there was supervising 5 infants (though the stated and *legal* ratio is 1:4). There's no way the assistant director was acting as a second teacher, since when we arrived she had been in a different building. Once I see a childcare blatantly going against licensing regulations, I know I won't be sending my kid there. read more

I enrolled my daughter shortly after her third birthday September 2016. She spent 3 months in the 2 & 3 year old class and then got moved to the 4 year old/preschool class. The staff is friendly and very structured as far as their daily schedule and curriculum. The facilities/equipment is not necessarily the newest but it isn't unsafe which is the important thing. I'm not a huge fan of the meal plan but I'm picky when it comes to food so I send her with a lunch as often as I can. My daughter has learned A LOT. After 6 weeks in the preschool class she was reciting 40/50 states, counting to 100, reciting months/days. The school is very diverse which I think has a lot to do with the fact that it is one of the only secular preschools in the area, which is something I was looking for. The pre-k teacher has already let me know the the pre-k curriculum for 2017-2018 has been updated and will be more challenging including things like a science table. The play area is in a sand box so my daughter's shoes and clothes get wrecked quickly. read more

My 2 kids were here for less than a year: Miss Dyan yakked on her cell phone with her back turned on a classroom of noisy kids (she'd have this witchy tone with kids if they refused saying "You said NO to ME?!")--very disconcerting to witness both behaviors. Miss Maggie is crabby--I'm convinced she does NOT like her work and it shows at drop off and pick-up. Her sister is a sweet, lovely soul. The owner is of questionable character too and communicated with me that she was a VICTIM and the parents were trying to get her in trouble with the child care licensing agency. In court, ALL THREE lied, lied, and lied to the judge (Miss Dyan wrote a whole letter of pure fabrications to be presented as evidence of my depraved harrassment of the personnel). My husband and I were aghast, insulted, sick to our stomach, that these people who we had entrusted our children to behaved so uncivilly. But a contract is a contract and we had to cough up over $600 for pulling our kids out last minute w/o giving a 2-weeks notice (we feared these people would bring harm to them--on the day of the child care agency's visit to look into a refusal of care for my daughter by Miss Maggie one afternoon, that same daughter was screaming, not crying, screaming at pick up and the care provider couldn't explain the reason; I couldn't find any physical proof of harm but that sound she made was not at all normal for her). I was not paranoid, not overly-reactively. (My girlfriend, who's like an aunt to my kids, had negative comments about the care she observed at the only encounter she had with them at pick-up 2 months prior to this freaky episode we experienced.) We should have put the pieces together and pulled our kids out before it escalated to a blatant red flag. Maybe it just happened that we were there at a rare bump in their operations. Maybe they didn't want to stay till 6:00 PM per the contract (and my work caused me to rush there by 6:00; I was a few minutes late 3x in almost a year). Most did come across as caring, calm and collected most times. Many parents had positive remarks. Regardless, when their character and professionalism were tested, they failed us miserably. So many times, I had wished I had a hidden mini-video camera secretly rolling to record questionable behaviors (ones that the gut says "hmmm, that doesn't sit well")... Check their file at the childcare licensing agency before you enroll your precious munchkins. Remember that "sting" visits by licensing agency staff don't catch most of the violations because the staff sees them coming, alerts the others, and they do lots of scrambling around to make things seem up to code. Do your research. Sit in on the classes at different times of the day. Tune in on their attitude about any queries you have and your presence. May you have very positive encounters with these people. (Oh, I've bumped into Miss Maggie shopping and she actively avoids looking at me.) read more

For anyone that is looking for a trustworthy school I strongly recommend this facility. My son has been attending this school since he was an infant. The teachers there are very caring,understanding and mostly of all they truly take the time to take care of your child. The facility is imaculate and clean. The children are taught to sing,dance,and most of all to be independent. They help them with homework and read to them everyday. The children have many activities throughout the day in which help them become independent. I thank the teachers there for doing a great job in assisting me to raise my child to be a great student in school. He truly enjoys going to La Palme Peppertree everyday. read more
