Hello Bronx Yelpers! The staff at La Pastora are friendly, quick, and polite. The bakery is somewhat small don't expect to sit doe and eat. The place is clean and there is a lot of lightening. We ordered a bacon egg and cheese on the best bread ever. I strongly recommend that you give this bakery a shot. This is conveniently located near my summer workplace. It seems like most of my train makes a stop at this bakery before moving along. The quality and prices are incredible. I got a small coffee (black with sugar), a guava pastry, and the bread with cheese inside for only $8.45. It's a small place, so you'll have to wait a little, but the line moves quickly. read more

Hands down some of the best pound cakes you will ever find. A very small bakery in the South Bronx, that does a little of everything. From morning coffee before you hop on the 2/5 train, to sandwiches for lunch and school trips, to individual sweets for any time of the day. La Pastora Bakery is a very small bakery that you may miss if you walk too fast or are distracted by your phone but they do it all and they stay busy. The small store can only hold 6-8 customers comfortably while waiting for orders but I have witnessed more squeeze in. Do not let the size or location fool or deter you. I only go for the pound cakes and they have become my go-to contribution for any event (family/work) or potluck that requires me to bring something when I don't want to cook. If I'm honest the pound cakes are my go-to for a "just because" occasion also. They are always so moist and decadent, they will never be a bad choice. They come in Vanilla, Chocolate, and occasionally they have Red Velvet. You can usually get the Vanilla in a loft or large round and the chocolate (and red velvet) in the large round. I already regret sharing this little piece of heaven with the world of Yelp. My mom gets their bread that they bake fresh in the morning and it's so fire I love it. I think it's Puerto Rican bread and it's sooo soft and fluffy and stays that way for a good 3 days before it starts to harden. It has a tiny sweetness to it too. read more

Wooooo! Omg the cakes are Delicious, the Cuban sandwiches are out of this world, and the customer Service is in whole other dimension. This small shop creates such big moments for their customers and I appreciate it all. I'm a teacher and I needed two last minute cakes the other day for an event for my school and they had cakes already to go! The dolce de leche was a hit with all staff as well as the pineapple. Let me also say the strawberry short cake I had personally and it is to die for. I'm literally eating their Cuban sandwich as i write this review today. I went here because a friend recommended, It was the worst mistake. I placed an order for cupcakes a cake and strawberries. The cake was nothing that o had described to her when I placed the order she even had a picture for reference that was sent to her. The elmo you can see she just cut around him instead of being a little more professional and cutting right At the edges of his body. The name we spoke it to be ON the cake not on the board and the "h" looks like a "n". Now as you can see the cake is off the board a little that is completely my fault from the card ride but that doesn't take away all the other things that were completely wrong with the cake. The strawberries were ok They did look a little funny but it's ok. Now the cupcakes again nothing of what we spoke about I asked her for 2 cupcakes for each color just how the strawberries are and they mixed the colors together. read more
