I was put on to this place recently and all I can say is that the spot is poppin. Open 24 hours with it's large signage right on St Nicholas Ave and from what I hear, also the spot to be by some celebs and alike, you just have to stop by. We grabbed chicken sandwiches and an orange juice concoction here and barely paid $20 for a monstrous amount of food. An absolute recession special, if you ask me personally. The bread on the sandwiches was pillowy and appropriately crusty on the outside. The mayonnaise and condiments were generous. The chicken was flavorful and so juicy, as if it was ripped right off a dripping rotisserie chicken. They definitely did not skimp on the meat and every bite was a juicy, tender mouthful. The sandwich is quite large and for those of us who actually have to watch our diets, the other half made for splendid leftovers the next day. The orange juice was A-okay. I'm not latina so perhaps it is an acquired taste but I found it to be a bit on the sweeter side and the texture due to the orange juice curdling the evaporated milk is kind of grainy. There were several other offerings at the bakery with endless rows of baked goods, flans, cheesecakes and pastries as far as the eyes can see. Service was efficient and friendly and effortless. It's definitely a take out spot as there is no seats or even counters to stand and eat your food. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and treat yourself to an epic meal here. read more

Horrible bakery, poor customer service, I asked to speak with the manager, and the ladies that work in the cashier were being very disrespectful and didn't want to provide the mangers name or the bosses name. I grew up in Washington Heights, my whole life, and that was my go to childhood bakery, but ever since they changed modifications in the menu you're paying more and getting low quality food. + lack of developing skills in Listening to respond rather than listening to understand. The first time I had ordered a tostada they had clarified to me that it only provides one full slice of ham and that if I wanted more ham, I had to order a sandwich so therefore the next time I ordered from them, I ordered a sandwich instead of a tostada so I can get more ham and they failed to let me know that it's only one and a half ham in a sandwich which to me is ridiculously not worth investing $5.50 for a sandwich for half a piece of ham extra besides the point of that I only received the sandwich with one long piece of ham and they called me a liar and told me I needed to go back to the store and I had let them know that I couldn't go back to the store right then and there because I'm at work on my 15 minute break so I don't have much time to go bring the sandwich so they can add more ham when I wanted to ask to speak with the manager, they did not want to help me getting in contact with the boss, and they did not want to provide any names. read more

If I could give zero stars, I really would!!!! 3 weeks ago, my family and I ordered a baptism cake from this bakery to be picked up today and honestly, I'm appalled at how horribly this cake was done. First, if you're not able to execute what a customer is asking you to do, then be honest. Secondly, if a customer is not satisfied with the work that wasn't done, then you should offer the customer a refund. Thirdly, why lie to the customer that you didn't have a picture to go by, but clearly when you compare the original picture to what was actually executed, you could tell that they were taking elements from the pic that was submitted when the order was placed. I'll make a Confession out of this review... All I have ever came to this bakery for is their delicious, huge, cheap sandwiches. They sell these "arm long" sandwiches, full of delicious meat (chicken, pernil) or ham and cheese for about $4.00 top and no less than $2.50. I will try to take a picture of them next time I buy them because as soon as I get the bag I go crazy with the smell of the deliciousness and devour them like a wild animal does. I didn't give them 5 stars 'cause I can't rate anything else but their sandwiches, but they are worth way more than 5 stars. Cheap and delicious desserts and coffee but make sure to bring cash if you're not buying over $10 worth of items. My favorite dessert here is the tres leches, soooo good. The flan and carrot cake were okay, prob wouldn't get them again. Great bakery! The sandwiches and tostadas are delicious, and so are the empanadas and rellenos. They have a good variety of natural juices and the avena (oatmeal) is very yummy. There's usually a line, especially in the mornings but it goes fast because they have several ladies behind the counter. The tres leches here is THE BEST in all of Washington Heights. They also have a really good chocolate cake. Outside of these, the others are just okay. Only thing I tried from here and never liked was the flan, which tastes too much like eggs and not in a good way. On my third return trip here, I got three empanadas: cheese, chicken and beef. The cheese although not melted inside, was warm and tasted good. The chicken was a bit dry but it could've been worse. The beef was good. The dough was descent, sort of like a cross between bread and pie crust dough. If I remember, they were around $1.50 each. I also got a tres leche slice. Really good and not overly sweet. It only cost me $2.75. I also got a pineapple upside down cake slice and good as well. To wash it all down, I got a large cafe con leche. Piping hot, I expected it to be latin strong. But it wasn't. Hey it was only $2.50 and passable. If you like Mcdonald's coffee, then you'll like it. Like other reviews, the service is fast and pleasant. They do speak English, so don't hesitate to stop by here if you're nearby. The prices are right, the items are descent and the cakes are yummy! The cakes are super dry and tasteless. You can tell they are not fresh. Cheesecake is pretty bad too, overly sweet and again no flavor. The person who helped us was also not friendly. I do my cardio walk from Fort Lee NJ into Washington Heights/Bronx on a regular basis and I know Washington Heights would be able fulfill my Dominican Cake fix lol The service was friendly and even with a little English barrier the woman was sweet and helpful when I entered. She even let me sample Tres Leches Cake because I told her that was one of my faves which was also Great OMG !!!! Horrible experience. Came over to get a ham and cheese sandwich, after waiting 30 mins which I didn't mind I was hungry. Second lady pops out from the back and tells me "you ordered jam cheese pernil sandwich" I answer "no just ham and cheese" well sad to say I got the ham cheese and pernil sandwich. This is one of my favorite bakeries in the heights, it's always busy! And the best time to go is during the night time. I come here almost everyday to get myself a batida which is the hispanic version of a smoothie. I always choose the lechosa flavored one. Lechosa is actually the papaya fruit itself. They only have one size, and it's 3$. It's amazing, I also highly recommend to buy sandwiches from here. They make your bread very toasted with lettuce ,tomatoes,ham and cheese for only 3.50$. On the other hand, sandwiches in deli's go for a good 7 bucks. So hey! Why not? This is the best place to order "orejitas" from, very fresh but they usually make it around 12:00 a.m. So it's good to slide by at night when everything is done and fresh . Uhmm, why is this delicious bakery right across the street from my gym. Im trying to get this belly fat down but cant help stop coming in here before or after the gym for a quick bite. I usually order their soft, bread with ham and cheese (yea yea I know, thats why I will have a lifetime gym membership, LOL), I am not a big coffee drinker but their coffee is yummy and hits the spot after working the overnight shift. I've tried their chicken sandwich which was just okay and a few slices of pastry. The place is always crowded but the lines move quickly. So I ordered the chicken sandwich. The lady askes " With everything"? I'm like yeah everything but cheese. She then says "with ham"? I'm like no it's a chicken sandwich. So apparently ham is layered in this massive Sandwich. It's loaded with chicken,lettuce, ham tomatoes and this delicious sauce. It does get soggy and messy so don't go on a road trip. I was getting picked up around here for a hiking trip, and I popped into this bakery to grab some breakfast. I didn't really know what anything was, so I just looked around to see what others were eating. I ended up getting a breadstick that had ham in it, and it was really good. The bread was really fresh and the ham was of good quality. I also got a cinnamon round bread and a cinnamon rolled bread. I didn't want the round one but the lady helping me misunderstood. Got our baby shower cake from here it was honestly a really good price for the size of the cake the flavor was also very very good but i will say the decoration just felt boring we were given a book with baby shower designs and they were all gender reveal which wasn't what we needed so we had to make it work if the cake had been smaller it would've been fine but for the size it was the topper we added on just got lost lol that being said I would still come back I've never had such delicious cake I like that it's not overly sweet like other dominican bakeries and everyone that works there is very very nice and patient we have to get a cake soon and will definitely be coming back this time more knowledgeable read more

This bakery is awesome not only do they make really good pastries but their fresh bread is delish. So far I've costumed order 2 cakes for my daughter 1st and this time her 2nd birthday and they have executed well.
