Hux Family Farm in Durham is a small family owned farm that offers tours of the farm and goat yoga…read more I signed up for the goat yoga but ended up just snuggling with the goats and sheep. I was told that was ok too! Reservations must be secured ahead of time as space is limited due to COVID guidelines. After you park, you need to wash your hands and the sanitizing station. Someone will turn on the water for you and give you a squirt of soap. You cannot take anything in the yoga tent area besides your yoga mat and towels. Purses, bags, jewelry, etc need to stay in your car or put on the picnic tables as the animals could get tangled in the handles/straps. We were also advised to put our hair in buns as the goats like to nibble. This was a very good tip! My session had twelve participants and we made a circle around the edge of the tent. Since we couldn't be six feet apart masks must be worn the entire time. I'm glad that was enforced. I had no idea there would be so many goats. I think there were at least 36 goats and two sheep and two dogs. I enjoyed watching them file into the gated area in a parade. They were all lined up one behind the other and just kept coming and coming! Some of the goats had a lot of energy and wanted to climb and nibble and others just came and laid down. There were a lot of the cute baby goats too. The time went by very fast as it was such an enjoyable experience. Washing hands must be done again at the end of class and if you want to support the farm you can buy duck eggs, goat milk soaps, and t-shirts.

You have the option of buying inexpensive buckets of food for them, but you get plenty of attention no matter what. The staff are great about making sure all people get a adequate attention from the goats, and everything is well-run and well-organized. They also have a huge dog who may be cuter than all the goats combined. Tickets are affordable and very convenient to purchase online. They also have some very nice goat milk soap for purchase - I kind of regret not buying some. Definitely make a trip out here. It's worth the drive!
