tried to make a reservation on their website reservation. Left a contact name and email as per questions and they never got back to me. Went there at the same time as the reservation had been requested and there were lots of tables available. Food is good. Pizzas are great with a great crust. Service is kind of lackadaisical. The waiters are attentive, but seem bored looking out on the street at the passing scenery while they were taking your order. We were hit with a strong craving for Italian food while visiting Puerto Vallarta so we asked around and La Piazzetta was overwhelmingly recommend. So maybe our experience was a "one off" The food was very bland and tasted like a processed meal; like out of a can or a frozen TV dinner. The pasta was cooked nicely, but that was the only impressive part of our meal. The service however, was abhorrent. When the servers weren't "serving" they were gathered watching some sort of sporting event near the sidewalk, while some were trying to pull customers off the street. And to no fault of the restaurant, the street was loud and chaotic. This made for an equally chaotic dining experience. We have walked by many times! The vibe felt so good. FINALLY the timing was right. We were starved and wanted everything! The server recommended the ravioli and pizza. We split both. Gave it a 2 Star as 2 of the 4 entrees were good. The Calzone was awful, full of un-cooked mushrooms. What was worse was the total lack of service. Our waiter took our orders, more on that later, and brought our check, period. No follow up, check in. Plus, when asked how large the pizzas are, he insisted that they are "personal size". Which might be true for a 300+ LB person. To add insult to injury, the staff encouraged the obnoxiously blaring loud and not very good mariachi 'band' to make the experience even worse. Seeing all the positive Yelp reviews on the pizza For this establishment its like we must have eaten at a different restaurant than everyone else. There was a party of three of us where we all ordered different pizza's, the Quattro Stagione pizza, the Hawaiian pizza and the Ligano pizza. Based on each persons individual taste there was a general consensus amongst us that the pizzas were well cooked but quite bland. It is almost like they were missing the necessary seasonings that would give the pizza the flavor pop they so badly needed. Pizza aside, the restaurant has a lot of positives going for it starting with the facility which has a nice traditional Italian charm too it. The covered outdoor seating is also quite nice and adds a lot to the dining experience. Another huge positive is the restaurant has a fairly large wine list which was a bit surprising (in a positive way) as I had not expected to see this. Lastly the service was quite good with friendly wait staff and excellent follow up. As this was our first time here we all agreed with the three star rating based on the bland nature of the food and will adjust the rating if we have pizza here in the future and the flavor is there to justify a better Yelp rating. read more

I love Itaian food, and pasta especially. When it comes to pasta, this place rocks. Comparable to Italy. The pizza is not bad. Never tried the meat entrees. Mix of tourists and known locals who the owner greets with handshakes & hugs. Slightly higher-priced than La Dolce Vita a few blocks away (which is not bad) -- but comparing identical dishes between the two restaurants, the edge goes to La Piazzetta. The beautiful sunken under-roof patio in front is the place to be. Only open for dinner. read more

Seems odd to have Italian in Mexico right? We had no idea what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The setting is nice and spacious and the service is very friendly. We started with prosciutto and melon, nice but nothing to write home about. My husband and I could not decide on one of the many, many pizza options but the one we did choose was excellent. My daughter had stuffed ravioli, to me this was better heated up the next day. That was a slight sweetness to it but all in all a decent dish. read more

Got a pizza to go. Ordered at the bar, waited about 20 min and it was brought up to me efficiently and correctly (they weren't very busy so timing seemed as it should). The pizza itself was a personal size thin crust margarita. It was mediocre and stuck to the bottom of the box so had to pry it off the cardboard. This is one of those places I walk by all the time and it appears to be very touristy and never had much appeal to me but since I decided to stay in figured it was worth a try to pickup. Back again after 2 years and it did not disappoint. The fried zuchinnis and the salmon carpaccio stole the show, they really are amazing, with all the right seasonings and textures. The sor michelle pizza with Roquefort, artichokes and olives was great, thin and with that hi t of strong esa from the blue cheese. They now also have fresh pastas that I want to try as well. The chairs have these weird straight backs that aren't exactly comfortable. And the food is just OK -- which is really why the rating. Caprese salad is unremarkable. Melon and prosciutto was good -- but hard to F that up. Lasagna -- which I was told used to be this amazing platter of sizzling goodness smothered in meat sauce -- was a square that had more mushrooms than meat and was neither sizzling nor delicious. It's located in a bustling area of PV with literally dozens of restaurants, which can make choosing one very difficult - especially with a group of 7 like we had. We were able to get seated here very quickly during a busy time. The service was superb, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. I had a pizza, along with a Caesar Salad.
