Ate here about 5 times, i swear i left a review each time, must have never went through. I owe this place a amazing review probably a 4.7 out of 5 (they only allow a 4 or a 5). So ill try and incorporate what i recall in my stay in Dec -Jan. Absolutely loved the exterior perfectly situated in a corner where probably the most popular area in Zona Romantica for restaurants. There are about 6 amazing restaurants seemingly within 50 feet of each other. I was blown away by how inexpensive some of my selections were. Had the Fettuccine Alfredo 5*, Linguine and clams 4.6*, Lasagna 2x 5*, and Pizza 4.5* not a good leftover pizza cheese is different then American cheese. Excellent attentive service, the ambiance and energy, vibe is incredible especially at the bar met some good folks. The thing that got me was in Phoenix/ Scottsdale anything like this atmosphere and food is easily 35-45$ with a cocktail, i was consistently around 20$. Also loved that it had a fell of upscale but you could fell comfortably in casual attire. Definitely my first stop when i return to Zona. read more

I've been coming to Puerto Vallarta for 25 years. I've always had decent calamari. Actually, most of the time it was excellent. The calamari here was the worst we have ever had. When we told this to the way it or several times. There was no reaction. The rest of the meal was mediocre. The service was averaged to below average. read more

I have a tendency to sit at the bar and eat and have done so twice now at la Dolce Vita. Food is so so, it is obvious there is not an Italian running that kitchen. My biggest issue, however, was with the bar service. First time I ended at the bar the bartender made it very clear he was very unsatisfied with the 15% tip. I left. Second time just the other night the bartender figure. I left 150 pesos on a $250 check for him as a tip as he immediately pocketed the money I had hoped he would have broken down into smaller bills for a more reasonable tip. But that money went straight into his tip jar. Will not go back to the restaurant again read more

Ensure you are at the one in Zona Romantica - this review does not speak to the other locations. Dined here twice in July 2022. Once at a table for two enjoying the Fettucine al Salmone and the Spaghetti alla carbonara, both absolutely fantastic. The second night sat at the bar, shared a peperoni and mushroom pizza ordered crispy. Came out as ordered, friendly bar staff, everything was extremely clean - and the place has a great vibe. I don't quite understand why this restaurant doesn't have five stars. It is absolutely fabulous. Italian food is one of my favorites and this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to regardless the fact it's in Puerto Vallarta or whether it would be in the United States it is absolutely authentic and delicious. Had dinner at the counter. Love the counter and love this place (to which we've been several times) but tonight, in particular, felt like we needed to be coming here for 15+ years to be truly welcomed. Had the fried fish with salad and shrimp with/in garlic and oil. Fish was good (tartar sauce super yummy) but pounded extremely thin. Breading separated in a way that suggested to me it wasn't done in house. Partner's shrimp was tasty but came with steamed veg and rice that seemed more fit for an aging boomers crowd. Rice pilaf, anyone? 1989 called and wants it back. Server was friendly at first (especially when we mentioned our recognition of him from prior visits) but then felt super ignored throughout our meal. Ordered drink was forgotten and empty glasses yielded no inquiries. Had to ask another server for the bill. Football (soccer) game was an obvious distraction. Gave a 10% tip which was much lower than our usual but generally acceptable for good-ish service in PV. Server went cold as ice when he realized the amount, virtually slamming the credit card reader down. Super disappointing for our last night in PV. A server at a place nearby confirmed the same -- the one up north is much better. And their shrimp looked damn good. read more

This is a very efficient restaurant. The spaghetti pomodoro was very tasty however I wish it was a different type of pasta. The bruschetta was good, but a bit off to what I am used to. ...A little subtle than my liking. The pizza was surprisingly good with generous toppings. Could have used more sauce. ...These are all preferential opinions however. All professionally and classically served in your choice of bistro style atmosphere on the sidewalk or in the covered patio style seating. Overall, this was a solid dining choice. read more

For starters, the margarita was strong - in the best way. The bruschetta came with 6 pieces. The bread was warm and toasted and the tomatoes were perfect. Add the oil and balsamic for extra flavor. The fettuccini + shrimp and zucchini entree was tasteful and delicious as well. Overall, great food for a good price. read more

After eating at several Mexican restaurants during our trip, we wanted something different. We passed by La Dolce Vita during a stroll down the Malecon and it smelt awesome, so we stopped in for a delicious dinner. We shared a fresh salad before each grabbing a pizza. (I had a pepperoni, and my partner had a spinach and mushroom.). The pizzas are made fresh and cooked in a brick oven, giving that extra bit of char on the crust, which I love. We boxed up the pizza to take back to our condo so we could each get a dessert. The chocolate ice cream cake was amazing! The wait staff was welcoming and attentive during our dinner, and the price for everything was very reasonable. (The only thing I would avoid getting again was the glass of wine I chose... but they have a whole menu of others I could have chosen from...) read more

La Dolce Vita is now a chain of three restaurants in PV.  This newest location is across the street from Margarita Grill and right next door to Joe Jack's in Zona Romantica.   ATMOSPHERE: Brand new and contemporary with indoor and outdoor seats.  A huge bar sits up front with an impressive all-glass wine chiller in the center of the restaurant.  The vibe was very lively and energetic.   MENU: Italian everything.   FOOD: Minestrone Soup - $6.00 USD The semi-hot bowl was full of chunky carrots and celery but man, there was no flavor!?  It lacked that savory, tomatoey taste that minestrone soups should have.  I hate adding salt to food but I was forced to here.  Sorry to say but canned Campbell's does a way better job.  Half of it went to waste.  Pass.   Spaghetti alla Bolognese - $7.25 USD Talk about a parched dish.  While I can forgive the just-past-al dente pasta, I can't forgive the sauce that lacked flavor. The volume of sauce and ground beef were miniscule compared to the amount of pasta it had to coat.  Adding obscene amounts of cheese didn't help and I wasn't about to add salt to it.  Another dish left half-eaten.  Pass.   SERVICE: We had a short 10 minute wait due to no reservations, so we grabbed drinks at the bar.  Our server was professional and friendly.  Food delivery time was average.   OVERALL: Not a return for me as my two dishes lacked flavor.  Too bad as they have a prime location and swanky digs. read more

In my many years of spending the winter in Vallarta, this is by far amongst one of the best meals I and my companions have ever had. It was prepared perfectly and the flavor was exquisite! The service was very very good and the staff attentive. Kudos to the chef. The ambiance and decor are very comfortable/contemporary. I will return again and again. The pricing is great as well. It was nice to have an option to not have Mexican food in PVR. We settled for this Italian place on the main drag as we often walked by it. It did not disappoint. They have nice patio seating and it was not overcrowded. You might even be joined by a stray cat. The food and service were good. I had a pasta dish and it was cooked perfectly. read more

My husband and I came here two out of the four nights we stayed in Puerto Valllarta. They have really good pizza and pasta! We ate on the patio both times. The patio is right by the road but is covered with foliage so you still have some privacy. The service was prompt and friendly. Large menu with tasty desserts! Everything seemed to be very fresh. The pizzas were similar to what you would get in Italy. If you like Italian food, I highly recommend La Dolce Vita. read more

Came here just for drinks because of the restaurant's location right in the heart of PV. BEWARE of FRAUD here Upon paying the bill the waiter tried to take our credit card away... My girlfriend had minestrone soup which is very tasty. Also she had the raviolis, which were excellent, and I had the fettuccine in a cream sauce and shrimp very very good!!! A sh!t show of incompetence. Astoundingly poor performance by the kitchen. Food arrived cold and had to be sent back twice to be warmed up and by the time it finally got back the third time it still wasn't cold but it looked like dog food. I left it on the plate untouched when they finally picked it up. In any first world country they would've taken it off the bill since I didn't eat it. Servers are quite good but the bottom line is the lack of food quality - all premade way in advance and they can't seem to heat it up adequately to serve. If you want good Italian food in Zona Romantica try Ortensia Funiculi, which is only a few blocks away. Food is delicious, service is good, ambiance is WAY better than Dolci dogfood, and your food might even arrive hot! read more

Excessive noise, will not eat there again. We have dined at this restaurant twice, the staff, service and food are fine. The noise is offensive. When a customer celebrates a birthday the staff sing a song and bang pots and pans together, the noise is so loud and offensive we could not talk, most of the other customers stopped their conversations and were shocked at how loud it is. Located in the bustling nightlife hub of the Zona Romantica or Old Town, this gem has indoor and outdoor seating with a comforting menu of Italian classics, sure to please the hungry traveler. We happened to eat here two nights in a row and weren't disappointed. Brian and the welcoming staff treated us like regulars and we tried to sample a variety of items from the menu. On both nights we had both soups (both broth based) the minestrone and the tortellini in brodo. The portions were generous and the flavor was bountiful! For entrees we each ordered a pasta: one spaghetti carbonara and one tagliatelle bolognese. The carbonara was rich and creamy with a savory bacon flavor. The bolognese was also hearty and full of flavor. On the second night, we decided to split a margherita pizza which was really good. Not the best I've had, but respectable. Attentive service, great atmosphere, very good prices. I had a glass of pinot grigio (about $5 USD) and then had prosciutto and melon (about $8 USD). Nice little lunch. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, including an indoor bar and wine cellar. The food had great flavor and cooked to perfection. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I had to continuously ask the waiter for freshly grated pepper, and we weren't offered grated cheese. - I know this is not major, but I enjoy both these items on my Italian meals. Hit or miss in this place. The bruschetta was pretty tasty, we ordered lasagna and filet of steak. The steak was grilled lightly and marinated in salt and pepper. The lasagna was too cheesy and rich. Had a great flavor but just too rich for my taste - 5 layers of cheese. Nice atmosphere, great venue to people watch. They are across the street from a bar that has loud music. So you benefit from that unless of course you don't want the loud music. read more
