Cozy little Italian restaurant in the Zona Romantica area in Puerto Vallarta. Tasty bruschetta served as appetizer. Extensive wine menu a bit pricey but nice to have w/our pasta dinners.. Small. Outside patio with distant ocean view.Italian dishes were all enjoyed especially the pesto & bolognese. Lots of ground beef in the lasagne Attentive waiter..

Lovely outdoor sidewalk dining. We all had pasta (pesto, bolognese, and lasagne) which was expertly prepared and delicious. Bruschetta appetizers were delicious, though quite minimal. Bread would have also been a welcome complement to dinner. Very nice change from the Mexican food we've been eating most of the week. Sauvignon blanc was refreshing, and kept chilled on ice, table side. Wine selection is good, but a bit pricey. Service was prompt and welcoming, never overbearing.

We loved our dinner. The service and food were excellent. The environment was perfect: quiet, peaceful and delicious.

We came here with a friends recommendation. The food was great Italian food with pizzas too. The pizza smelled amazing and so did the pasta dish my friend got. My food was great too ! service was efficient and quick. Our server had great recommendations and would definitely come back here again. It's right around the corner from the Cabaret show which is a great area to eat before the 7 PM show. The ambulance is casual with some light string music in the background which added perfection to the experience.. not to be confused with the Funicula, which is the cart that takes you up to the top of the hill around the corner lol

Fabian and others are excellent staff! The food was also excellent.. bruschetta, meatballs pomodoro, fettuccini, tiramisu, cocktails and espresso all top notch. The view of the ocean from our table wasn't bad either! Will be back!

After eating so much Mexican food, we decided to switch it up and go Italian. There are a lot of Italian restaurants to choose from in the area. We ended up at Ortensia Funiculi mostly due to hotel convenience and viewing the menu outside. While Yelp reviews averaged 4.5 stars, we were mostly disappointed in our dinner. The Meatballs appetizer was pretty but had an usual texture and we couldn't tell what kind of meat it was made from. The balls were pretty tasteless as was the red sauce. Our Margarita 1/2 cheese pizza looks amazing, but tasted just ok, nothing special, and surprisingly arrived luke warm. Dinner's saving grace was the Linguine Vongole which came with fresh clams in the shell. The linguine was nicely cooked al dente. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, so that's a plus. With so many Italian restaurants in the area, next time we will try a different one.

    Lasagna! So good.

After eating tacos for the majority of our vacation we were ready for some Italian food! The views from the outdoor tables here are spectacular. We ordered calamari, pizza and lasagna. Our favorite item was the lasagna. The staff were friendly and helped move our table very quickly once an unexpected shower came down.

Great outdoor sidewalk seating. The table arrangement is unique (tiered) as the restaurant is located on a steeply sloping street. Comfortable seating & plenty of overhead lighting yet almost leaning towards a romantic atmosphere. The menu has a selection of appetizers as well as many options for various traditional pasta dishes. The pizzas are large & with a thin crispy crust. Complimentary bread with oil & vinegar. Extensive wine list (pricey) Full bar. Efficient service. Credit cards accepted.

Excellent food, solid service, an indoor/outdoor, candlelit ambience provided the perfect, intimate setting for dinner our last night in PV. We wanted to eat somewhere walking distance from where we were staying. By this point in our vacay, we had come came to expect such high quality from the food in PV that it seemed like we should just be able to pick the closest place and it would likely be as awesome as every other restaurant we'd tried. This one was literally just around the corner and we loved it! Seating is fully outdoors, with an awning that provides protection from occasional rain here. But, no air conditioned space was available. Weather was not a factor on the evening we dined. We sat out on the edge of the space, above the cobblestone streets of the Romantic Zone. The open air was soothing and traffic through this area minimal, making for a relaxing meal. She ordered a pepperoni pizza and I tried the Spaghetti Frutti De Mare: a seafood spaghetti dish with mussels and octopus. Both were flavorful and arrived warm. The pasta dish in particular was robust and tomatoey. A tomato covered Focaccia came out before dinner along with some moist garlic bread and butter. The food overall was exceptional. Would definitely repeat on future visits to Puerto Vallarta!

I noticed right away that the kitchen is tiny. It made me wonder how they manage to put out so much food. Service was standard. Nothing to complain about while we were sitting there, but the aftermath was a disaster. My partner and I both got extremely sick a few hours after leaving. It was pretty clearly food poisoning, likely salmonella based on the symptoms. It is very disappointing since so many people talk this place up. I will not be going back. Would really caution and avoid if older or immunocompromised.
