    French onion soup
    Linda F.

This was our first fondue meal in Paris and it exceeded our expectations! The pot of cheese fondue for two came with two plates of salad, potatoes, charcuterie, bread. The cheese was so delicious. We also ordered French onion soup which was superb!

Yum! After visiting Sacre Coeur, my companion and I stopped here for some raclette. The place was cozy, warm, and cute and a perfect sanctuary from the drizzly and chilly day outside. We each got a plate of salad, meats, gherkins, and onions to go with our raclette as well as a basket of fresh bread. It was quite delicious. I was a bit envious of our neighbors who ordered things to cook on the 'pierrade' - hot "stone" where they bring you raw meats that you cook at your table - but the cheese was really delicious that I couldn't be too jealous. The staff was friendly and attentive but the place was also relatively empty.

French onion soup - those little broiled, cheese-covered, baguette pieces on top, yum :)

It was my first time in Paris I was staying two blocks down at the Andre Gill hotel and my friend and I decided to walk up towards Sacre-Couer. It was late and we were hungry and jet-lagged. Around 10pm if I remember correctly - they were the only restaurant still serving food! We didn't care what we ate, so long as we could eat something. We were pleasantly surprised by this place. We both ordered the three course special. I don't remember the price, but we are grad students and were traveling on a budget, so it must have been reasonable. The French onion soup is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten in my entire life - that is not an exaggeration. I couldn't believe how good some onions in broth could taste. It was great though. Then the beef stew came - tender meat in the tastiest of broths, just the right amount of veggies, fresh baguettes for dipping - yum! The dessert wasn't as memorable - a chocolate cake of some kind. I'm sure I was just too full to enjoy it as much as the first two rounds. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the Montmarte area of Paris. Great food (even late), good service, and reasonable prices.

If you want to ensure…read morethat you're able to enjoy, a reservation is absolutely obligatory, and you must confirm it the day before (don't worry, they will email you--just be sure that you check!). The staff is amazing: they are all polyglots. The hostess who welcomed us this evening spoke at least three languages (in the two minutes that I was within earshot): hashtag rockstar, hashtag goals, hashtag color me impressed. They are friendly, helpful, polite, and all about making sure you have a great evening. The menu is set: a welcome drink (they do offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options: kir) with a small charcuterie board to whet the appetite, followed by fondue of your choice: cheese with bread or a meat fondue (with four sauces). This comes with the famous biberon de vin--rouge ou blanc, comme vous voulez. After that, it is dessert: take your choice. When I was there, it was île flottante ou mousse au chocolate. J'ai pris l'île flottante et ma mère a pris le mousse au chocolate. They were both delicious. Alas, they didn't survive long enough to be photographed. RIP What really made this evening special for me was the camaraderie of the patrons: I came with my mom, but I met so many nice people. You will be sitting shoulder to shoulder with people who hailed from Italy and another traveler from the U.S. Everyone immediately became friends and shared travel recommendations. It was really quite nice. In case you are wondering, yes, they do sell the biberons, and yes, I did buy one. Absolutely worth it.

The fixed priced menu includes an appetizer, a fondue pot (either cheese or meat) and a baby bottle full of wine. The seatings are all at the same time, and the place gets packed. You actually have to jump over the table to get to your seat . the food is great and the experience is fun. Everything is in English and it is very geared towards the tourists. It is a fun dinner and activity thing to do at least once while visiting Paris.
